Finished off The Fall last night. Enjoyed it very much. Only 5 episodes and wish there was more. It might be a little slow paced for some and the accents can be tough to understand at times but overall worth the watch. My only issue:

I wish they would have resolved the storyline by doing 8 to 10 episodes. Is the same thing going to stretch over multiple seasons forward? The secondary story with the cop killer was a little confusing.

Bailed on Lilyhammer though. I made it about 4 or 5 episodes. It wasn't horrible, but just not enough to keep me coming back. I thought Steven Van Zandt was a weak link in the Sopranos and don't buy him as a tough guy here either. The supporting cast isn't all that good.

Just watched London Boulevard, a British crime drama with Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley. Nothing groundbreaking, but I really liked this one a lot. Ray Winstone was awesome as the badguy. And I don't dislike Colin Farrell as a lot of people do, so I was digging him as the protagonist.

Oh, one drawback is I did need subtitles for a more than a few scenes...this one is very British.
Been meaning to watch this one but have yet to. Im with you on not hating Farrell. He had an action/thriller early last year that I though was definitely worth the watch called Dead Man Down.
I always thought Farrell was pretty good. Didn't realize a lot of people disliked him. If you guys haven't seen In Bruges you should check that one out.

I liked the supporting cast. Jan is one of my favorite characters in any recent tv show.

I thought the same exact thing.

who was in White House Down?

now I can't remember which one I saw. :hot:
That was the Jamie Foxx one.

I saw the other one...liked it.
So many "let's blow up the White House and kidnap the black President" movies, so little time.
Everytime Morgan Freeman get to play the president, there's another identical movie out at the same time.
Deep Impact>>>>Armageddon

Lots of stuff happening. I complained when I initially saw the February release, I usually am under whelmed at first glance but the truth is there are 125 titles in my cue, I can't watch it all but I somehow feel robbed that I didn't get 3-4 new releases from 2013…it's still a basement bargain for $8 a month and then hit Redbox 2-3 times to fill in anything I missed a the theaters.

Hannibal-Season 1…the new season will start Feb 28th on NBC, I want to watch this so I can follow when the season starts, I watched 1 episode during last year and was impressed but couldn't ever be around the TV when it was playing so I missed out. Season 1 is up and streaming.

In the same vein, Dracula is streaming and that's a show I missed on NBC as well.

New Season of House of Cards will start in about a week, been meaning to watch this series, now might be the time to jump in.

Just those 3 shows right there could keep me busy for a while.

Still working my way thru Dexter which I did not want to like but I have gotten caught up in it. Season 1 Great, Season 2 was good, Season 3 was alright but Season 4 with John Lithgow as Trinity, I'm getting towards the end of the season, it's outstanding.

People talk about Deter and many say after Season 4 it goes down hill, funny that this coincides with the marriage between to 2 leads who play brother and sister but ended up getting married in real life, anyways their marriage dissolved while still filming this series…you talk about tension on the set. I can't imagine the crew having to deal with this the last 2-3 seasons, could have impacted the show. My wife loves this show and can't stop watching. I'm a little worried about the notebook she keeps with pointers on how to kill

30 for 30: The Price of Gold-Winter Olympics is starting and this is an ESPN film about Kerrigan-Harding, I have not seen it but it is supposed to be fabulous.

Lots of documentaries and some stuff you all might not love but many of them were critically acclaimed.

Cutie and the Boxer-Story of 2 artists who have lived in NYC for the last 30 years, it's pretty cool and I think you will like it if you are into visual art.

The Act of Killing-Disturbing is the word I would use but a fascinating psychological study nonetheless.

Mitt-It's good, doesn't make me like him any better, in fact it affirms we voted the right guy in but it's fun to watch.

Deceptive Practice:Ricky Jay- I would say 3 out of 4 for me. It was good though and fans of Ricky Jay should really watch it.

Drew:The Man behind the Poster- Drew Struzen who has done countless album covers and movie posters…you'll like this. 3.5/4 for me

Big Star:Nothing Can Hurt Me- This one is pretty amazing. I liked it but I like old rock stories. A little over hyped the first 5-10 minutes but once you get into this it takes off. Highly acclaimed by critics, you should really watch this before you forget about it.

Room 237- If for some reason you missed this a couple months back, grab it an and it in your cue. Fans of The Shining will have an orgasm watching this.

Bronies- It's kind of like one of those things you just cannot believe as it is happening. My wife loved this, I did not love it but I found myself mesmerized by these males who are into what is largely a female line of children's toys. You almost gotta see it to believe it.

And finally I have another Mads Mikkelsen film called The Hunt and I think many of you would like that film.

Everything I mentioned would take you a long while to watch, and be on the lookout because an incredible film from 2013 is getting ready to be released on Netflix. Blue is the Warmest Color is truly something to behold. And the girl-girl scenes are pretty off the chain. Yes you can see more explicit on the internet but when we are talking creative art, this takes the cake for eroticism in my book. There is a lot more going on in the film than just 2 women going at it but that might be the ticket to get some of you to watch this. It's not a short movie and not something I would just toss on. I believe it will be released Feb 25th, critics ate this movie up, you should see it.

I love Jan. I want to buy a similar hat just because of him.

Yeah, pretty sure everyone knows In Bruges is the ####, but always good to inform those who dont know

The (massive) problems are Season 4 are with the writing, not the acting.

Really looking forward to this one. Perfect timing Netflix.

Assuming you mean after season 4, I agree*. The cast does a good job with the #### material they're given, and I'd say Jennifer Carpenter is significantly better than she was the first couple seasons.

*I still think season 5 is good.

Finished "Top of the Lake"

Disappointed.

I knew the cop was dirty.

And I don't think Matt was the father. I think the Cop fixed the DNA reports to show Matt as the father. Could have been the cop who was the father.

Tui is not going to take care of the baby. It will fall to Robin and Johnno. Tui will run off to ChristChurch and do porn
Matt definitely wasn't the father. I think Tui's explanation of not knowing how she got pregnant and the scene where Al was meddling with the parenting test papers makes that clear. Al or one of the other pedo's is the father.

Couple things I didn't get:

Why did Matt steal the baby and aim his gun at it? Was he just that crazy of a dude?

Why did Tui's friend Jamie have roofies on him?

Was there some significance to the very last scene that I missed? Given the long take I felt like they were trying to imply something, but if they were it went right over my head

Its a nice 2nd level show. I watched them all straight through and hope they do another season. I enjoy the not-so-smart assistant and Jan - hope we don't lose him.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here yet...just watched "The Summit", about the K2 expedition in 2008 where 11 climbers died. Very well done documentary. I would highly recommend.

Watched that and another reality show streaming about Everest. Amazes me how they prepare for months then the day of it's like a free for all. Like people may have survived if they just had walkie-talkies or all agreed to use the same channel to communicate. Or hey let's try to time departures based on speed or perhaps have enough rope.

It's hard to have sympathy for any of these people that try to climb K2.. Like 20% die trying. Many of these people have spouses and children. It's rather disgusting. Bored and boring rich people.

Has anyone recommended "The Returned" yet? It's in French, season 1, 8 episodes. It's awesome. Really intense.
:goodposting:

Really enjoying this so far. Gave me chills once or twice.

I do fear, though, that this heads down some crazy, never-ending, confusing path like Lost did. I hope it doesn't.

This along with Spiral are two really good French shows.

Loved them both

Just finished spiral, spectacular show

Just started House of Cards, 2 episodes in and I'm hooked pretty hard. Spacey is on his game and perfectly cast. I would really like to know what was going on in Robin Wright's mind as she was buying her cup of coffee at the end of S1-E2, there was a lot happening inside her head for almost nothing going on in the scene. Couldn't tell if it was affirming her decision in her mind or if guilt trickled in. I'm thinking neither he for Spacey have much guilt in their emotional scale in this story. Both seem ruthless if you cross them for even a second.

There's an actual House of Cards thread, FYI.

Also, House of Cards will no longer be a Netflix exclusive.

Netflix' $100 million didn't cover the cost of the 2 seasons and only bought them the rights to stream the 1st 2 seasons before anyone else could have it.

Media Rights Capitol made the show and Sony has distribution rights, which they can now start selling.

Namely, they've just made a deal with Comcast. Others are sure to follow.

Watched the first couple episodes of Continuum. I think I'll stick with it.

Rachel Nichols -
Anyone else watching this show? I like it quite a bit but I'm wondering about...

The death of agent Gardiner. After he's killed, the next episode continues on as if nothing has happened. I don't like it when shows do that as it messes with the flow a bit.

Started watching Heroes, I'm 6 episodes in. Have to admit it has much more gore than I would have expected, especially the cheerleader. Its a good plot buildup so far and definitely enjoyable.

Watched Olympus Has Fallen last night, and while I enjoyed the gratuitous violence, I think I liked White House Down better. Still a solid action flick. 3/5
