Perfect Sense - Ewan McGregor and Eva Green: a global virus slowly eliminates the human senses.
Was just coming here to post about this. My wife was looking for a romance movie last night and put this on. I thought my night was going to suck. Turns out this is a really good movie. Another reminder that when people complain about Hollywood being out of new ideas, they're just not looking in the right places.

Really intriguing and well-done plot, great acting/chemistry, and really good atmosphere and music.

The movie is more about two people and their relationship amidst this crazy phenomenon (they can't tell if it's a disease or something else) than the phenomenon itself, but there is still a lot about how different parts of the world are handling it and whatnot.
The music for Perfect Sense was phenomenal. I am a movie score/soundtrack collector and a big fan of Max Richter's sorrowful, minimalistic and epic work. There are several truly beautiful tracks in Perfect Sense including On a Turning World, Sorrow Atoms and Luminous.

i've kind of given up on Jessica Jones. it just doesn't work for me somehow. meh, it happens.
I get what you mean, I was in the same spot but I stuck with it and it ended up being satisfying. Given where it starts and where it ends, it was worth the ride.

not sure if it's amazon prime or netflix, but we watched the pilot of Fortitude. strange, disjointed but compelling enough to give it an episode or two more... unless somebody says to avoid.
My wife binged this show so I caught quite a bit of it while playing on my tablet. It has a sort of Fargo meets Twin Peaks design to it but it takes itself more serious than either of those shows. The characters are done well and the actors are great for the most part. The plot, subplots, and side stories definitely need your attention and I was drawn into some of the human interest setups. For my money it's a pretty good watch but it does take a commitment.
We're six eps in... Really good. Keeping us guessing still, which I appreciate. Lynch is a good comparison... Strange, dark things afoot. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

Bounty Killer - so glad I didn't turn this off after the first couple of minutes.... it's campy with below-average acting, but the campiness is intended and it ends up being a pretty fun ride. Has some Mad Max in it it, is bloody, and has some eye candy. Certainly worth 90 minutes of my time. 7/10

I know I'm very late to the party but just watched the Swedish "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" last night. I've never seen the American one. Very good. Looking forward to the next two movies.

Loved the sweedish versions. Didn't bother watching the American
Saw the American version first, then read the books, then watched the Swedish version.. Thought they did a pretty good job with the American version. Normally "remakes" of foreign films fall flat but they did a good job here.

Too bad that Daniel Craig got so busy with James Bond and other films that he didn't have time to get back in the roll for the next two books.. :kicksrock:

Sounds like they are going to skip books two and three and do a "Reboot" starting with The Girl in the Spider's Web..

2. Why crack down on this? Why wouldn't they easily give you the option to view or search by these categories?
There are just so many titles that I think users would just be overwhelmed by all the options. They want you to quickly find something that you'll enjoy every time you fire it up (thus, more likely to keep paying your $8/month). They must think they can lead you there better than you could lead yourself looking through standard TV/film genres. In most cases, I'd bet they are right.

Just my guess. They seem to know what they are doing.

For me it appears as if they have a total of about 150 movies. The "newly added" lust appears to be the same since October.

It's awful.

Half way through four falls of buffalo. T. Thomas a bad man.

15/130 rushing vs nyg. Geez, what a missed opportunity. Belichek genius.

Watched Constantine again. So underratted. Nuts. Could make case for 2nd best comic book movie ever.

The scene where he flips off Lucifer as he floats to heaven. Gold.

a few episodes into Broadchurch and I really like it. but seeing that they're in season 3, I'm not sure if I should keep going or cut bait. I'm afraid of getting strung along with no payoff.
Just watch it!

Do the pretend like you have something better to do!
Sooooo much payoff.
man, I dig this show. I'm through 8 episodes now, and it might be the best show I've never heard of before. the twists & turns & secret relationships. good stuff. and the acting is pretty solid all the way around. I have to watch it with subtitles though, or I might not catch everything...or anything, really.

I'm at the point where I watch all my stuff with subtitles.

Amazing how much stuff you miss

see...this time with the subtitles i caught the cockney word.

When i initially read your post I thought you said Ed Hockulie....so i was really confused.

Just finished Narcos.

Started Peaky Blinders - fantastic show. Irish mob set in the 20's.
Did you like Narcos? I've watched two episodes and didn't really get hooked. Worth watching the rest?
I thought it was pretty good....but I'm a sucker for "true" stories. I am the same way with Peaky Blinders. Watched one episode, didn't get into it.
I did enjoy Narcos - stared getting good episode 2/3 - not sure why anyone wanted to become a policeman or politician? Immediate death sentence.

Should give Peaky Blinders more time - got really good episode 2/3. 1st episode was a little slow.

From what I've read, Narcos is very fictionalized. It's really what has kept me from watching it. I would rather watch either a serious documentary on Escobar or a fictional show about a drug lord and law enforcement agents where the characters don't have the names of real people.

Yeah but I love his work in that new Geico commercial.

First, my wife and I watched Narcos and loved it. I think it got more compelling the more we watched. Second, I don't think I would classify it as "very" fictionalized. I'm fairly well read about Escobar and read some of the critiques of the show and I think only relatively insignificant parts were fictionalized.

I have one more episode of Narcos. Really liked it. Peaky may take a few episodes but it is great. Also enjoying The Knick so far. Halfway through season 1

kinda fizzled out at the very end... but worth the watch, IMO. 12 episodes total- Amazon.

the russian cat ended up being pretty damn funny... intentionally or no.
