This show has a lot to learn from Man Seeking Woman. The FX series is a lot better, and the dorky protagonist has plenty of female troubles. Whereas with Love, the dorky protagonist has beautiful women flirting with him constantly. Ridiculous. Not a bad series, but is the viewer supposed to believe this nerdy dude has a shot with any of these women?

It's good. Seen him IRL and he's a solid funnyguy.
Also on Netflix is a new Hannibal Buress special where he does The Fringe in Edinburgh. I like Buress but thought his last Netflix special was pretty bad. This one is good as it's more about his experience than his set. You see him get boo'd off stage at one point basically. He also hangs w/ Trevor Noah for a bit. It was cool and it gave me some hope that his run might not be over after that crappy Comedy Central show and bad Netflix special.

"Catastrophe" on Amazon is pretty awesome. Only 12 episodes (2 seasons) so far. A bit of a slightly older version of "You're the Worst". The best Amazon show so far, I think. Even better than "Transparent", which I like quite a bit.

Just finished it. It was interesting enough to recommend, but I hate when writers get lazy and can only advance the plot by the characters doing the dumbest thing possible in the moment. "The prophecy says we're at our most powerful when we're together.....COOL, let's split up!" Also, that ending...come on.
CW cancelled it, so watch season 1 knowing that's all there is.

If the French version of The Returned has been mentioned already I'll cast another enthusiastic thumbs up. One of the best things I've seen on TV.

Watched this based on a recommendation from a co-worker. Interesting, but pretty anti-climactic. I wasn't familiar with the story but based on the trailer I expected more of a fight and more of a "white supremacist" presence - almost expected a militia group of 100 to be moving into town, not just some old guy screaming for attention and a puppy dog type guy following him around town.

"Lady Dynamite" did not work for me. I like Bamford as a comedian but, after the first episode, there will be no reason for me to continue. Pass.
"Inside Out" from Pixar bored me to tears. Even my kid (6 years old!) was bored. "Brave" might be the last really good one they did and even then it pales compared to "Cars", "Incredibles", "Ratatouille"and even "Monsters Inc.". I'm hoping Finding Dory might return to form for them but I'm not sure.

Very funny, the first Netlix stand-up in a while I've been able to watch all the way through. The only downside is her bits about being old at 33 made me feel ancient.

During the pilot, I said to my wife at least 5 times "If that character dies (drowns, gets eaten by a radioactive bear, etc.), this will be my new favorite show." That never happened, but it has potential. I think if i had to wait every week for it I couldn't do it. But it's binge worthy.

"Best of Enemies" - Documentary about Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley, mostly surrounding their string of televised debates on ABC during the 1968 conventions. These predate me and I had no idea about these. The hatred between them was real. Themes include how this may have been the beginning of punditry as we know it, albeit with a much larger vocabulary.This was very good, went by fast, had some laughs. Would definitely recommend.

while it was a novel concept, it wasn't especially well thought out. it was beyond smaller kids and didn't offer up a comedy that was broad enough for them. for adults, it was cloying and treacly. it was better than its conceptual predecessor.

So interesting. Really, I probably would have liked it if it were longer and delved more into who each guy was and where he came from. I knew nothing of Vidal's background and it is fascinating to see that he was the heir to a political mini-dynasty and looked perfectly on track to continue it, but then something went awry in the 60s (which I still didn't fully understand based on the documentary) and then he bizarrely takes down Bobby Kennedy and kind of wrecks his political career (I guess). Perhaps the issues of his sexuality came into play (?) or just his overall disillusionment with the perceived decadence of American life.
Also interesting that even though overall I much more side with Vidal and that even though the doc (I think) presents Buckley as much more of a creep, I was still pretty sympathetic toward him at the end. Showing that clip where he called Vidal a queer as the last thing on his own show seemed a little extreme, and the interview with Rose where he says he is tired of living was pretty sad. It almost seems to me like he was an educated, well-spoken guy who fully understood the medium of TV and controlling the conversation, but maybe got too caught up in the ultra-conservative caricature and wished he could have been less rigid. (Ultimately up to him, though, of course.)
Moreover, these debates so perfectly presaged the future of media and politics that is almost scary. Really interesting to think about Ali emerging at this same time too and this breaking point in American history where the "establishment" (or whatever) no longer controls the narrative for the country and the seeds of opinion and image control are really planted

It took me a long time to finally get into Bloodline (I just finished up the first season a couple of weeks ago after starting it a year or so ago), but it's pretty good. In the middle of S2, and the only reason I don't watch it more not is because it's just so damned nerve-racking.

Agree. This was great.
On a disappointing note, the new Sebastian Maniscalco special on Netflix was mediocre at best. Turned it off after 20 minutes. Bummer since I really liked his previous special.

Trojan War -- about USC during the Carroll, Leinart, Bush area.
Magic Moment -- about the Orlando Magic during the Shaq & Penny years
Winning Time -- Reggie Miller vs the Knicks
You Don't Know Bo -- Bo Jackson
Four Falls of Buffalo -- 90's Bills
Forget the name, but also watched the one on Duke lacrosse.
I'd recommend all of them. Makes me feel old though since most of these happened with i was a kid/teen.

I agree on "Lady Dynamite". It just tried too hard and wasn't funny too me.
But I completely disagree with you on "Inside Out" That movie was amazing and how in the hell can you compare it to Cars? That is like comparing a Van Gogh to your 4 year old kids fingerpaintings

I found it to be ok, but very preachy in that way that only British TV can be. That said, I have no idea if this was primarily produced by the Brits.

Tried to watch the final season of Arrested Development. Made it through three episodes and gave up.
