2 eps in.

Draws you in quick with a stranger things type of feel. This is a German show with lots of suspense and mystery. 

Great scenery, good acting and good writing so far. Looking forward to finishing this show.

I believe they have an English dubbing version for those who don't want to read but I read it's not synced well. 

I reset it to German with English subtitles.

If you don' t mind subtitles and like Back to the Future and Stranger Things this show is the outcome if they had a baby. 

Dark is apparently Netflix's 1st original series for Germany and boy did they knock it out of the park!

I don't want to ruin it for anyone but this is a great cerebral thriller with great writing and cinematography.  The type of show you will want to watch twice or read up on afterwards to get everything accurate.

Remember,  if you watch this change to German language and use English subtitles. If you use the English dubbed version it will take away from the show as the voiceover is not great and distracting. 

But...If you don't mind reading....PLEASE give this a try.

It's hard not to compare it on some level to Herzog's "Aguirre" specifically. Hunnam is miscast and the film squanders a great true-life story. I'd give it a C+.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon just won the Golden Globe for best TV series - Comedy.

i hadn’t watched it before because it looked a little chick-flick-ish, but it is by the creator of The Gilmore Girls and has some really funny and clever writing.  I’m already four episodes in and really liking this....

Watched a couple of horror movies yesterday with interesting ideas that ultimately missed the mark.

The Vault - A group of bank robbers planned for everything.....except a haunted vault.  I like the whole "what if we were doing a standard bank heist movie and a horror film broke out" thought, but the execution was a little lacking.  The pitch meeting for this film probably included weed and Cheetos, so it was no surprise to see James Franco show up in a critical role.  It's pretty standard horror fare, but if the script and direction were tightened up just a notch this could have been special.  I'd give this a horror grade of "C - "

House on Willow Street - A group of kidnappers planned for everything....except the hostage being possessed by a demon.  A lot like The Vault, I wanted to see the movie this could have been.  It's got all the cliches of your standard horror film (good and bad), and the script/acting/direction is kind of a jumbled mess, but if you're just looking for something to pass the time this would work out fine.  I'd give this one a horror grade of "D+"

it reminds me of the early season's of New Girl, but with more singing, and much more cinge-worthy, awkward moments.

i remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid.  it was one of the first movies that my dad took me to. I think it was also a double feature with one of the Pink Panther movies.

I'm not a Broadway, show tunes kind of guy, and I say this, that Crazy Ex-GF is one of the best shows on TV.  Full stop.  Super funny, filthy, and much darker than it appears from its candy colored surface

More importantly, I found plenty of Netflix and Hulu shows that I had no clue either had.  They both try to be so clever about predicting what I want to see that they've been excluding a bunch of movies and TV shows I'd love to see or watch again.  Some of them I know I've scrolled through their genre and they were never listed.  

Anyway, hope that helps someone. I scrolled through every single movie and TV show for Netflix and Hulu... helps to restrict it by year to batches of a few hundred.  If anyone has other tips like this that I've probably missed from not reading the thread frequently, would love to hear them.

Thanks for the heads up.  A six episode season usually means they've cut out a lot of the fluff I hate.  US version of the Returned was terrible.

Siege of Jadotville is about an Irish UN Peacekeeping force that gets hung out to dry. Irish war movies (much like westerns) are my sweet spot. The dry humor in the face of certain death plays well with my sarcastic personality. Based on a true story that occurred during the 60's, a mineral rich area in the Congo is taken over by coup, the UN tries to step in and do what they do. The mineral mines hire ex-French Foriegn Legion mercenaries to handle the coup and UN peacekeepers. Just a good unit based war story that no one has ever heard of.

The Siege of Jadotville took place in September 1961, during the United Nations intervention in the Katanga conflict in Congo-Léopoldville, in Central Africa. "A" Company, 35th Battalion (UN service) of the Irish Army ONUC contingent was attacked by Katanga Gendarmerie troops loyal to the Katangese Prime Minister Moise Tshombe. The lightly armed Irish soldiers, besieged in Jadotville (modern Likasi), resisted Katangese assaults for six days as a relief force of Irish and Swedish troops unsuccessfully attempted to reach the Irish force.

The outnumbered Irish company was eventually forced to surrender after ammunition and supplies were exhausted, but not before inflicting heavy casualties on the Katangese and their mercenaries. Glitch was decent through both seasons. Doesn't quite hit the levels of the original Returned and it's a little lighter in feel. It appears to be headed for a third, which seems like one too many IMO- but I'll give it a go if they do. Similar feel to The Kettering Incident except that one could really use a second season.

 We've been plowing right through this. Really dig it through three seasons so far, and it has a bit of that nostalgia factor. You do want to punch the characters sometimes but I also want to punch people in real life so there's that.

no schtick- I thought this was a Walking Dead spinoff. after the last couple years of that show, no way in hell I was touching it. but if they're saying that nonsense in french accents, ok I guess.

We just got into season 2 today (came home early because of upcoming snow storm). I told the wife today, that I almost bailed half way through season 1 but I am pretty much hooked now. Glad to hear it should keep on getting better!
