Count me as another enjoying The Queen's Gambit.  Watched the first 3 episodes with the wife and daughter last night and we all really like it so far.
Just finished this.

What a terrific little 8 episode series - really well done.

I cant.  I cant in all good conscience provide a full report on that.  That, that was just embarrassing.  Only thought I could muster throughout was "why"?
this show went from "has potential" to "this is getting weird" to full on "get the #### out of here, this is trash" in record time

I actually started watching Six Feet Under for the first time.

Francis Conroy is absolutely brilliant as the mother.

Interesting role for Michael C. Hall

I enjoyed Bly. It's nowhere near the level of Hill, but I found it enjoyable and worth the watch. Pacing and/or backstories didn't bother me. Some good acting and art direction.
My wife and I just finished it tonight, and I agree with you.  I actually forget most of what happened in Hill House, but from what I remember, this felt like a better story, if not as scary.  Definitely felt like more consistent story-telling, even though it wasn't consistently scary/spooky.

I've started watching Kim's Convenience on Netflix. It's a clever and quirky show that I've enjoyed so far (5 episodes or so in). Will continue.

I guess the thing that bugged me the most about it was it seemed some episodes they went, “Crap, we’re making a drama here,” and so they would just throw in a random jump scare/scary moment to get it back to Hill House territory.  It was just boring.

Maybe if they would’ve rearranged some of the episodes like the back stories it would’ve been more effective?

We only have a couple episodes left in Season 4. I've enjoyed it all the way through but if it wasn't for the parents, I doubt I would have stuck with it. The rest of the cast have their moments though.

I loved "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" but have no desire to watch this series in full. Is this scene worth watching on it's own (for comedic value)?  If so, what episode-minutes into it?

that's a no for me unless you're really into wardrobe and set design far over and above any other quality when watching tv or movies.

the costuming, color, wardrobe, etc. is fantastic. the rest of it is a mess.

You be careful you Oma. She sneak attack!

The new one on HBO with Nicole Kidman. The Undoing. Good first episode with some very nice scenes.  😍

I’m starting to think Nicole might be the most gorgeous woman on the planet.

my lady and i watched fortitude on amazoanian prime and it started out like a murder mystery and then it got totally fn crazy and i will stand right here and tell you that we liked it so bam give it a watch and get ready for some crazy town take that to the bank bromigos

Agreed.  The Queen's Gambit isn't perfect, but it's really well done.
Really solid and the best part is while it’s not as upbeat as say Ted Lasso, it’s not horribly depressing like so many new shows. It’s got its tug at the heart strings moments and difficult situations but you actually like the characters you meet. In 2020 it’s a great show and you don’t feel miserable afterwards.

Would this be good for someone that can't play checkers, let alone chess?

Big fan of that series. Did you watch all of it, or just the first season?

Yes. I know how chess is played, but I’ve never played it outside of a handful of times when I was young. They don’t really do anything that goes over your head in any way. Honestly, people who love chess might be more disappointed that they don’t fully explain some of the winning moves.

agreed.  amazing how much work went in to it.  a lot of her matches were based on real grandmaster matches.  I read even Kasparov consulted.

the final match was based on Ivanchuk v Wolff in 93 which ended in a draw.  but “they” reanalyzed it and found a better move at one point which they put into the series.

hi el guappo it is nice to speak with you again we have watched the whole first season and now we are about 7 episodes into season 2 and we like it and dennis quaid is just awesome i like that guy take that to the bank brohan

I thought season 2 of the Umbrella Academy was a lot more fun than the first.  It took me several tries to get into season 1, but I'm glad I did now.

was the grass cut correctly or is it a plot hole that's just overlooked?
After drunk mowing, she wakes up in the morning to find she cut the grass in a chess board pattern.  Only then can she visualize the moves to beat Ovechkin.

Should that be in a spolier tag?

For some reason I thought Wentworth had ended a few seasons ago..
Then I noticed on Netflix it was tagged with "New Episodes". What cave have I been living in??

I left off after Season 5.. and there are 7 full seasons released.
The 8th, and finale season, is broken up into two parts and Part one is available... Time to get caught up!

BTW.. we've discussed this before but ....
WentWorth >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Black is the new Orange.

wife noticed that there are new episodes of Schitt's Creek up.  she watched 4 of them last night.

thought the series was over? guess not.

I may have to give this another try. Watched episode one and was bored.

Really enjoyed Trial of the Chicago 7.

Also, I'm really late to this one because I'm not into basketball but The Last Dance was great and I'd say even if you don';t care for basketball but enjoy a well made behind-the-scenes series, check it out.

I cannot believe how good this show is.  Simply amazing given I have no interest in chess.  Someone told me a week ago this show was about an orphaned girl that plays chess in the 60's and I said there was no way I could enjoy that but damn after 1 episode I was all in.  Best show of 2020 (excluding Tiger King of course)

Another   to Queen’s Gambit. My wife are through the first 2 episodes and really enjoying it. I cannot imagine how crappy life has to be for orphans. Even worse back then when they would potentially just create little drug addicts.

Is anybody watching Noughts + Crosses? (On peacock)

Trying to decide whether to dive in or not. Not sure I have the energy.

my old man lived in an orphanage for years in the middle 50s. he and his friends were literally farmed out to local families as a labor resource

Just started The Queen's Gambit

One episode in and completely hooked. Looks like a fantastic show. Made me go look at reviews and RT has it at 100%.

7 episodes and I have a feeling I'll blow through it this weekend.

Take a gander if looking to start something. Looks exceptional.
Very well done

Wife and I are sooooo late to the party, but Schitt's Creek is hilarious.  Kind of a Hate-Love vibe a la Veep or some of Arrested Development.  But so funny, 1 full season in.  On Netflix.  Watch it if you haven't, and giggle.
