Didn't like it.  A lot of people do, but, I just saw the same episode being played over and over in a different setting.  You should be able to tell if it's for you 2-3 episodes in.
This was my ultimate take on it as well.  Watched about 4 episodes and gave up on it.

Thoughts on Succession on HBO Max?  Looking to start a new series.

I watched 2 eps and pulled the plug... really didn't like it, even though I could see it was well made, well written and acted. I just didn't like seeing rich #######s acting like rich #######s. I get enough of that in my work and living in NYC... I just found it completely annoying.

I downloaded the App and was ready to use but it required giving my email adrress so I deleted the App.
Isn't this why we all have more than one email account. One for actual correspondence as needed, and the other that is the burner account for things like this?

I still use my AOL account for exactly this kind of crap. And I haven't actually looked at my AOL account in a decade at least.

Yep, Yahoo and Comcast email accounts.  I purge all the crap maybe once a year because I occasionally need to confirm some website to log in or something that I have no interest in receiving adds from.

The Leftovers was ok. I kept thinking the last season was improving until they do the orgy boat episode or the President/assassin story. For what? To prevent The Great Flood? Oh...nevermind. It seemed too all over the place, disjointed and loosely connected. I don't like having to question if a main character is lying or not. Seeing another certain character alive in the last episode annoyed me. The end was kind of a letdown. Carrie Coon was awesome throughout and Theroux got better and better with each passing episode. I don't feel like I wasted my time but it's also not something I would recommend.

Watched the two new episodes of Maisel, on Amazon Prime, over the weekend. Big fan.

Also started Inventing Anna on Netflix. Only one episode in so far, but will watch it all.

I'm a big fan of Maisel too, but the first two episodes weren't that great IMO. It seems like it's just becoming more over-the-top caricature-type stuff now. Way too much time spent on parents and ex-in-laws with scenes that were once sort of funny now becoming painfully long.

Inventing Anna is entertaining. Her accent isn't nearly as distracting as I thought it would be after seeing the previews.

I just enjoy the show. The parts with her parents and having multiple convos at once crack me up. Hopefully she get the MC gig at the nudey place.

Ted Lasso on Apple TV

The wife and I have been bingeing this one. It’s not bad. A lot of the humor is on the cornier side (think puns and whatnot). I think my biggest gripe is the various British accents. Some of them are so damn hard to understand (such as Jaime Tarte).

And episodes are nice little 30-35 minutes long. Great length for a comedy show.

Loved the first two episodes of Mrs. Maisel. For me the side characters are all way more interesting than Midge.
When the comedienne (Jane Lynch) at the asylum offered Suzie the yellow pill because she doesn't like the yellow ones I almost lost it.  The lines come fast and furious in Maisel.

I do love Jane Lynch. And her butler being there was pretty great.
I haven't watched any of the new season yet.

But the actress who plays her manager just did a guest spot on Resident Alien and was absolutely hilarious playing Tudyk's alien in human form.

I finally was able to watch Ted Lasso and it much more than I was expecting.  It was much more meaningful than I expected.  It really is a good life approach and teaches a bunch of valuable life lessons on how to treat people and be a good person.  I was pleasantly surprised by this facet of the show.

finished up Inventing Anna, and thought it was good, not great.

the problem with the show is that it feels like they want the audience to feel sorry for Anna, or to empathize with her, but she has zero redeeming qualities. she's rude, insulting, deceitful, delusional, and a pretty bad friend. sure she bought a lot of nice stuff for people, but she was doing that for her own image, not to be nice. they treat her like the hero of the story, but with no heroic qualities to speak of.

DOWNFALL: The Case Against Boeing doc on Netflix.

Disgusting behavior by Boeing. They knew the 737Max was ffFFffed after the 1st crash. (actually probably even before the 1st crash) Pilots were not allowed to be trained on the Max but asked to fly it anyway. This company put profits over lives. Watch this if you want to puke and seriously consider never flying again.

It's almost like we live in a country without a government.

Just watched it an it was unbelievable.  $$$$ and profits over lives. Sickening

I've binged The Mayor of Kingstown? While the wife has been away. I found it pretty silly and highly meh. The last episode in particular that could/should've made better sense of the season went the opposite direction and turned it into mush. But it had tough guys, boobs and shoot 'em ups, so I guess that was the appeal.

Finished up Mayor of Kingstown.  I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a bit.  Starts a bit wonky but hits its stride around episode 4 or so and finishes with a flourish.  A bit over the top perhaps but I enjoyed it very much.

lol !

it was you that recommended it.

Through 2 seasons of Succession.  I am enjoying it so far and season ending to 2 was awesome.
it's one of those shows that people either love or hate, and I love it. I think I even started the original thread about it years ago when it first came out. it's just people behaving badly, but it's really well done.

I like the show Hanna (Amazon), but had never seen the movie.  I watched it last night on Peacock... I didn't realize that the first season of the show was basically remaking the movie, but with a different ending.  Anyway, I liked the movie too.  I don't know if it was watching it in that order that did it, but it was interesting to watch that movie and see all of the places where it was snappy and let the audience assume things, compared to the show which was meatier, but showed everything.  There are advantages to both.

I loved the movie...one of my favorites of the last 10 years. The show is ok, but lost all of the fairy tale element that made the movie special. Tbh, the show feels kind of rinse repeat now that it's in it's third season and things are more or less understood.

Watched episode 1 of 1883 on Paramount+ last night.  Much grittier than Yellowstone, with none of the comic relief.  I enjoyed it, but the thing that stuck with me most....These people, many whose skin looks like an old cowboy boot, have used WAAAAY too many Crest Whitestrips.  Cmon, Taylor Sheridan.  I could forgive Faith Hill wanting to have purty teeth.  Her husband shoulda chewed some tabaccy and taken one for the team with more realistic yellow/brown teeth.

That's always a distraction for me on shows set in the past. Not just old westerns but ancient Rome/Egypt, Biblical movies, etc. Takes away from the realism.

Deadwood always got it right

"God rest the souls of that poor family… and p***y's half price for the next 15 minutes."

"The world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man… and give some back."

Al is behind only Tony Soprano as TV's best character.

I will admit that for a long time my ignorant ### thought I needed an apple tv for their service.  :bag:    I signed up to watch CODA and Tragedy of Macbeth, but I will admit that some of these shows look really good.   I know it's been covered, but which ones have people liked the most?

I added Severance,  For All Mankind, Ted Lasso, The Afterparty, and Servant to the queue.
I am enjoying Severance so far. Episode 3 tonight

Ben Stiller hit a home run with Escape From Dannemora. He’s a pretty great director in this format.

Okay, yeah....It felt a lot like "LOST" to me, which I bailed on after 2 seasons.  I need resolution and not persistent "TO BE CONTINUED.....maybes".
I liked Yellowjackets - part of it is probably the 90s nostalgia.  but I liked it from Episode 1, so if you weren’t feeling it early, it’s not something I’d go back to.  👍
