first episode of Your Honor was something

some clunkiness and a bit heavy-handed. guess i'll see where it goes.
Stick with it, very good
Yeah, there's some "dumb" to it, as in why does the kid keep doing dumb things but it's pretty solid. Cranston puts in a solid performance as always. The guy who plays Jimmy Baxter is good. The actor who plays the Baxter son not so much really. Gotta say it was weird seeing Hector without the bell though.

Was browsing through Netflix/Max/Prime a couple nights ago trying to find something to watch while trying to remember all the suggestions of this thread. Ended up deciding on a rewatch of Deadwood, and I'm hooked all over again. Only ever saw it once back when it was airing on HBO so I'd forgotten a ton, but ******* I ****ing love this ****ing show, all you ****suckers should ****ing watch this, right now *******it.

I really need to watch this.

It's probably next on my list to watch. Going into it completely blind. I avoided it for years because it was cancelled in the middle of everything, but as soon as I heard there was a movie that sort of resolves stuff I was in.

Just started season 2. It is okay but not great. Hopefully it gets better.

You're taste? Doubtfully.

I watched it a few years ago, well after it aired originally. Had no idea about the abrupt ending so was floored when I ran out of shows until I some Googling and found out what happened. The movie ties a nice bow on everything...just 10 years too late.

I watched it too. Didn’t love it. Debating whether to continue.
Is there anything involving lawyers and judges that you do like? I’m about 8 episodes in and enjoying it.
The Wire
My Cousin Vinnie
A Few Good Men
Lincoln Lawyer (movie, not the TV show)
12 Angry Men
Law and Order (but for the courtroom scenes)
Better Call Saul
There was actually show in the late 2000s with the Zack Morris actor about public defenders that I liked - I forget the name.

FWIW I didn’t not love Your Honor for any of the legal issues. I agree with the poster who said it was heavy-handed so it was really just the plot I didn’t love. I didn’t dislike it for its portrayal of the profession.* I’ll keep watching it and report back.

*Which is why I can’t stand otherwise popular and well-done shows like Suits, Lincoln Lawyer (tv show), etc.

Franklin & Bash - I believe it's still on Hulu. Comedy show, pretty lighthearted with lots of courtroom shenanigans that would never fly, but a fun show.

I've had a late night, avoid thinking and sleep show that I've been slow binging to take my mind off things and wear me out for sleep... the Wilds.

Ive enjoyed it more than I should, even though I'm a fan of teen apocalyptic type bs, and finished up the 2nd season.

There is no 3rd season. It got cancelled. Dammit.

Finished Under the Bridge; actually wouldn’t recommend. Dragged on far too long and too depressing.

Probably gonna try Ripley or Big Door Prize next, along with wrapping up Dark Matter

Forgot about that one. I think I watched the first season and the 2nd season took a while to come out and I completely forgot about it.

I finished the Shield last week. Some leaps of faith during each season but pretty good watch and I thought the ending was great

Was looking for something different to watch so started MI5 on Britbox.

I can't find the big "movies" thread but since this is on Netflix I'll ask here...

Anyone catch the recent movie w/ J-Lo called Atlas?

Horrible critic reviews on RT but approaching 50% audience score.

Need something to watch either on flight out to DFW or on my way home. Already catching first two episodes of Acolyte.

I tried to watch Atlas and never finished it. It's not good, not smart and not interesting. Couple of cool fights that don't make up for the lack of the rest is the best you'll get, imo.

Thanks, I just rewatched the trailer and it looks pretty dumb, indeed. Time to find something else.

I've pimped this movie before but if you want a different experience I offer up to you Hundreds of Beavers. I laughed the whole time at the humor and the absurdity. There's no dialogue per se but a couple of cue cards along the way. It's like a live action looney tunes with Elmer Fudd being a fur trapper instead of a hunter. So clever and creative and so unique. I loved it.

I watched it
its just ok at best and I had it on in the background
if i would've spent money to see it, i would be pissed

Brats by Andrew McCarthy - Documentary of the Brat Pack(Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, etc.)on Hulu.

I think Andrew does a good job with this. It centers on a magazine article written by David Blum who coins the term 'Brat Pack', and how that article affected the actors careers and lives.

Jim Henson Idea Man (Disney+)
Documentary on the life and career of Jim Henson and the development of The Muppets produced by Ron Howard.
hmmmmmm.......Really wanted to like this and had great expectations. I don't know if the story telling was slow and dull, or his life outside of the fact he created one of the great entertaining enterprises of all time was slow and dull, but I had a hard time staying focused watching this. It was good enough to watch all the way through, and I might give it another watch now that my expectations have been properly set.

Finished season 1 of House of Cards last night. I'll keep watching, but I am suspect how this can go for six seasons.
Do not watch the final season. It does fall off a bit after season 3 but it's still pretty good. I still don't know why I watched the full final season. I was done with it halfway into the first episode and for some dumb reason continued on.

For the most part it goes really well for four seasons, then falls off the rails.
I'll take that. More than I expected.
Yeah. Season 3 isn't as good as 1 or 2 but it's watchable. Season 4 is almost as good as 1 and 2. Season 5 is horrendous. I bailed before Season 6, which I heard was laughably bad (and doesn't have Spacey, as he was fired after Season 5).

Halfway through this Falloutboy show. Does it get better? Kinda slow. The vaultdweller is a cutie and I hope she doesn't get all radioactive skin. Did the landdweller put a baby in her on wedding night? Hope it gets better. I got Boyz, House of Dragon, and Forensic File reruns that need attention.

Pretty meh all the way through, imo

Not sure where to post this, but I stumbled across Race to Survive: New Zealand on USA a few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it so far. It reminds me of Eco-Challenge from years ago that was produced by Mark Burnett of Survivor fame. Just figured I'd pass it along for folks that are into shows like Survivor, Amazing Race, Alone, etc.
Thanks! This must be the show my wife was trying to remember the name of. A woman at her gym recommended it since they talk about Amazing Race when it's on.

Watched Brats on Hulu. It’s fun enough just for nostalgia, but it’s ultimately Andrew McCarthy trying to capitalize on the Brat Pack while acting like he hated it. He’s insufferable. The rat packers who were kind enough to indulge him seem like the most grounded people ever compared to this whiny idiot.

Tried For All Mankind when it premiered, but bailed before the end of the first episode. Recently started watching again and I am hooked. Halfway through season 2.
I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes and quit as it wasn't interesting at all to me. Maybe I should try it again.

I never played the game but enjoyed Fallout

My one complaint is that it skips around a lot because of all the characters, so a lot of story is just not told. Most of the way through season 2 and I am starting to dislike a number of the main people.

Just finished the series last night. It held my interest enough to watch it all the way through. In the end, I can't think of anyone I really liked.

Looking for good sci fi recommendations I can watch with my 13 year old. For reference, we just finished watching "The Expanse" with him and he loved it (although he's still grossed out by sex scenes). Any suggestions?
Have the 2 of you watched Silent Running?

Had two long flights this past week and binged the following:

Criminal Minds: Evolution 7.5/10 - if you’re a fan of the originals, then this is a guilty pleasure worth the binge. Unlike most of the seasons, this one is a continuance story and it’s a to be continued into the next season. That main antagonist is pretty good and the show has some nice character call backs. It’s, of course, absolutely ridiculous and dumb at parts, but hey that’s the show. This delivered exactly as expected.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves 8/10 - I had never heard of this and frankly just randomly chose it while tired and nearly delirious after a delayed flight. Surprised at how much I liked it. The serious is based on the real life Bass Reeves who went from slave to U.S. Marshal serving under the infamous judge (same judge from True Grit) who liked to hang people. There are significant time lapses between episodes and some good actor cameos. The actor playing the main character does a nice job. Worth a watch if you like westerns.
