Never watched breaking bad or better call Saul when they were on.
Got through breaking bad this spring. Thought it was really good overall and had a handful of incredible episodes but I don't put in the top 5 all time like a lot of people so.
About halfway through the last season of Saul now. It's much different than I expected it to be and I think it's the better of the two. Great show
I rank BB ahead of BCS, but honestly I think I may be in the minority on that one. BCS is so much better than what I expected when it was announced, and the last few seasons feel like one banger after another. I won't comment on the ending since you aren't there yet.
What's remarkable is how they took a "comic relief" guy from the first show and completely re-built him into a three-dimension character who can generate real pathos. The writing is just outstanding.
I also love the understated suspense/dread with Kim. We know she's not around for BB, but we don't know if that's because she leaves Jimmy, if she goes to jail, if she dies, or what. The show doesn't really call attention to that at all, but I'm sure most audience members were thinking about it.
