That's why I watch so few American series any more --- they're usually too familiar and too predictable.i'm feeling the exact opposite of late
fiction stories are "good guy wins, bad guy loses, lots of car crashes" by and large or "nerd wins over the hot girl". feels like there are very, very few twists on the age old storylines that are remotely interesting anymore.
Good all the way until towards the end. they introduced the diversity inclusion angle.Any comments or opinions on Black Sails ... just started on Season 1 (of 5) ... 2014 thru 2017 for 5 seasons ... Reviews say it is well rated, modest skin and decent drama. The plot so far is sketchy but it's early ... Appreciate input...
S3 E1 was very confusing with little to no dialogue and flashback and flashforward inconsistently, jumbled all around IMO.I freaking love the first few episodes of the new The Bear season, 1st Ep especially.
I agree. That was beautiful.I freaking love the first few episodes of the new The Bear season, 1st Ep especially.
Exactly.. it was a totally different way of establishing narrative structure than I'm used to seeing. Brilliant way of carrying that crescendo of a s2 last ep forward. I absolutely loved it.S3 E1 was very confusing with little to no dialogue and flashback and flashforward inconsistently, jumbled all around IMO.I freaking love the first few episodes of the new The Bear season, 1st Ep especially.
No direction given other than chaos.
Have not had time to continue with S3E2 yet.
Just watched it this past weekend. It was way, way too long. Your summary is spot on. Lot's of nothing going on. Either make it into a series and go into some of those stories or cut out a bunch and get to under 2 hours. This was like the worst of all choices.A lot of my criticisms of KOTFM are the same as my criticisms of The Irishman, so if you like that movie, maybe you like this one more than I did. I think there's a pretty good 90-120 minute movie in there someplace. But Scorsese isn't going to edit himself, and apparently streaming services don't have the muscle to impose an editor on him. KOTFM had several subplots that went absolutely nowhere and could have been easily cut, and that would have made the movie more watchable. As it is, there is nowhere near enough story here to justify a 3 1/2 hour runtime. I spent huge swaths of the film just observing the background scenery and wondering how it accurately it depicts early-20th century Oklahoma.
I wonder if it will make more sense once we see season 4. It felt like a “part 1”.Finished the bear season 3.
While I absolutely loved it I felt it was just off compared the prior 2 seasons......
That was a great doc.I'm in the middle of watching The Beatles: Get Back documentary on Disney +
I'm only half listening while I work. What I'm getting out of it is interesting and entertaining.
I only have one question. Was Yoko demon possessed? Yikes! Every time she attempts to sing anything it's terribly frightening!
I just watched the first episode of Season 3 The Bear and I have no idea what that was about. It was constant music and no dialog. Looks like someone died but I have no idea who. Hope it gets better and less music going forward or I am out.

I just watched episode 2 and I believe I know who died now but based on episode 1 it doesn't make sense to me. Not going to risk posting any spoilers but episode 1 implied it was a family member of the head chef dude. Guys.I stopped in the middle of season 1 because I really didn't like it. Very surprising to see so many people like the show. The Bear S2 was incredible
It's surprising that people like a show with incredible acting and writing?
That’s his schtick.

How much air time did the character that died actually have? Maybe 2 minutes??? Ep 1 was about putting the final EP of S2 and the restaurant soft opening into context and moving it forward... At least that's my take. While ep1 was predominantly about Carm, the death was something integrally part of that night.
I loved the Bear as much as anyone. This season is a total train wreck imo. Worse than the Lost AND Game of Throne endings, still better than the Hobbit I guess. I think I have watched seven episodes, had to stop. The Michael hiring scene was the only great moment, and the music went from awesome to terrible. Someone needs to get fired imo.I freaking love the first few episodes of the new The Bear season, 1st Ep especially.
Not sure if this is schtick... It's not about the character who died. It's about the timing and their survivor... Who as it turns out happens to be a character on the show we're all watching. How much air time did the character that died actually have? Maybe 2 minutes??? It touches on the other people a bit too, but definitely focused on painting the picture of what brought him to that night.Ep1 was about everything in Carmy life
Brother dying, the opening, the flashbacks, the pastry chef mom ....all of it. It's not that difficult

I could be confused too, the way the episode worked with almost all flashbacks.Maybe the reason I got confused is because they made it seem like someone in the main guy's immediate family died when they showed Richie knock on the door. Maybe it was a flashback?
I'm almost finished with it and will share thoughts when done. For a preview, it's been on odd watch where I initially didn't like the show, then did like it, then (presently) don't like it.People really like Your Honor? They're ok with the plot? Come on. Completely ridiculous.

Imo too many people are on their phones during these shows lmao. This isn’t even a Stranger Things type show that comes out every 5 years they do a new season each summer. Not sure if this is schtick... It's not about the character who died. i loved it. def worth going through it once
I just watched another episode of season 2 - which is now a 5.5Life with Damian Lewis. Tons of potential that they failed to cash in on. Season 1 was like 8.0 but season 2 is like a 6.0.
My wife knows I'm done so she put on the next ep without me. The Faks work at a hospital now? Faks are great, leave them alone.I would fire the Faks.I loved the Bear as much as anyone.
