It's no Psych but Pokerface is ok. I watched 4 episodes and it felt like a slog so I don't know if I'll watch the rest but I might at some point.

We enjoyed the first season but never felt it was “great” or anything. We bailed a few episodes into Season 2, though. 22 minutes of the build up to the crime and then 3 minutes of “Wait, that person lied” and then instantly piecing together a bunch of clues that Prime Columbo wouldn’t have put together, then the accusation. Just awful pacing/storytelling.

The Pee-Wee doc on HBO/MAX was solid.

Season 4 of Hacks - ick. Bailed on that one, too.

Why the ick reaction to S4 of Hacks?

I thought the first half of the season was pretty stale but liked the back half. The penultimate episode was really good.

Your Friends & Neighbors: Going into the last episode I was still curious how the season would wrap up. I liked the ending, although the very last scene was predictable. Not sure what a second season will look like. More of the same as a burglar, or a completely different direction. I really liked the cast in this show. I managed to like everyone. There were a few plot holes that seemed to just be ignored, but I was entertained.

Seemed they are setting up for the burglary to continue - seemed like he was about to go rob Bersen’s home. I’m enjoying the show and I’m all for suspending disbelief but the idea that all these rich people wouldn’t have tons of cameras and alarms is utterly laughable.

I think it's odd that he spent much of the process fighting against not having more control of the project because it turned out so well done. However, I guess I get why you would want control over how your life story is told.
I don't know how many people on this message board were around at the height of his popularity, but man, he was on top! And I remember when his arrest occurred how quickly it crashed.
In this doc I thought he came off as very funny and charming, with a good dose of self-deprecation.
It was interesting to discover how his original direction was avantgarde art. I had no idea of his in-depth history with Phil Hartman.
As I was watching this I thought there really needs to be a first-rate documentary put together on the "The Groundlings".
I remember his first HBO standup special. It's available to watch on YouTube. It was almost as big as Sam Kennison when he did his first special.
I did think it was funny when he talked about not coming off as a victim at the time of his arrest, he said, "Therein lies the rub. No pun intended."

As an 80's kid who remembers when his special first aired, I thought the background in this was great.

Just finishing up Jocko Podcast 491 with Eugene Sledge's son Henry. Got me in the mood to rewatch the Pacific. When Band of Brothers came out I couldn't get enough of it and dove into all kinds of books, research, message boards, whatever I could to learn more about these men, the war, etc. I thought it was the penultimate encapsulation of the war to date. I've since softened on it and now, if you asked, I'd probably say the Pacific is the better of the two. Not to slight either, they certainly both have their place but I get a better feel for what the marines went through in the Pacific, the mud, the casualties, the constant fighting. Just seems to come through better for me int he Pacific than Bob these days.

Mobland: I loved it. It's not a masterpiece of brilliant writing, but its great entertainment. Season 2 vs. Kat will be more of the same. I do need to see Eddie eat a bullet though.
I thought the humor added with the one Harrigan soldier who regularly said or did something inappropriate was great. In the last episode in the scene where he starts eating chips and the reaction from Pierce Bronson was just the right amount of levity to break tension. Mirren's character was over the top, but that's fine. I liked the series a lot!

After a slow start, I wound up liking it quite a bit too. The goofy Harrigan soldier was great. I liked when Conrad got everyone a drink but him at the bar. He always reminded me of Mac from Sunny in Philly. Not sure how that ending plays into a season 2. Maybe they're leaving it open if Tom Hardy isn't back or just for closure if the show isn't renewed. The ending was silly with Conrad in the prison.
Kat also played a villainous character in Ozark too as the cartel lawyer.

Been watching Dope Thief (Apple) and have enjoyed it so far. Drug/crime thriller that’s pretty interesting with a solid cast. Just be prepared for people making a long string of horrible decisions and lots of yelling at each other.

It just felt kinda silly overall. I cannot look at Pierce Brosnan and not think Remington Steel. It's a me thing I guess. Overlooking the miscast, Conrad the character was horrible. I love Helen Mirren. Maeve was just another horrible character. Wanted her to die basically since the first episode. Eddie. Just bad. I hope his character doesn't drag on. Just kill him off already. I can nitpick the the silly storyline, but I won't. Just felt silly.

The good:
Sometimes silly is okay. Hardy made the show for me. Great performance. Great character. Kevin was solid. I'm hoping we get rid of Conrad and he takes over. Build the next season around Harry and Kevin. I like this layer with Kat Mccalister. Has an Ozark feel. Overall, it's a one time watch show but I'm definitely in for season 2.

Agree pretty much with everything here. I'm fine if Brosnan and Mirren have very little to do with next season. Love Hardy, he's one of my favorites for a while now. Some really solid acting by the guy playing Kevin, especially with the abuser and Conrad at the end. I'm interested in seeing Kat's origin story and look forward to the eventual showdown with Harry.

For succession, i was surprised that there wasn't 1 main character was even close to being good
Barry , a show about a hitman, I wasn't expecting anyone being that good either. Its been pretty good so far

I just finished first episode and really enjoying everything but the robbery/home invasion aspect. Seems to be a major plot point going forward but outside of that great start for the show

I actually thought this season was better than the other two. I didn't really care for the other two seasons as it just seemed to go nowhere. I kept waiting for something to "happen".

It's hard to explain but I always felt like it seemed to want to do something but then at the end of every episode I was disappointed. I kept waiting for it to be better and it never got there.

The season seemed to be more entertaining.

If you're big on "plot" and "action," White Lotus is not that kind of show. It's a character study that happens to have murder(s) every season.

Ok so we’re not alone. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Good acting. HATED the racist friend who hates white people. Almost everyone else was unlikable.

I guess I’m happy for the son who got to stay on my favorite place in the whole world. (Hawaii).

Just seemed to never go anywhere and were all left with more questions than answers.

I hear season 2 is the best one. Starting it tonight.

I really enjoyed the Terror, but honestly would have enjoyed it much more if it didn't have the supernatural element. I still would recommend, but just add a warning that if you're a history buff and expecting a straight up story about what happened, you might be disappointed. The rest of the show was good enough to make me overlook the supernatural. I mean, being stuck in the arctic provides enough terror that you don't need to create additional drama with boogeythings. I can't speak to the other shows because I haven't seen them. Dark Winds is good, Bodkin was interesting. I don't know if those are enough to justify signing back up, but maybe for a month or so?

It doesn’t have the shock value of the first season and seems like it’s more transitional to season 3 which comes out in a few weeks. Season 2 gets more into the pursuit/uncovering of the organization behind it with some typical “game” elements. It’s okay, but not great imo.
