I really liked Pee Wee as Himself although it was much sadder than expected. I remember watching him on Letterman before his first movie came out. Saw Big Adventure in the theater and Pee Wee's Playhouse was must see Saturday mornings, and I was in my early 20s at the time. lol That, combined with Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse made for perfect wake-n-bake Saturday morning entertainment.
I had no idea about his life before Pee Wee and found his early years really interesting. The very end was really sad and it sucks that he appears to have been a victim of some political grandstanding and a witchhunt later in life.
His interviews were great and showed a really wry sense of humor, but a troubled life underneath. I'm glad the documentary was made and he was able to set some things straight. RIP Paul Reubens
I have this queued up but haven't pulled the trigger

Really enjoyed the first season of the spy thriller Condor. Think Jack Ryan meets Night Agent. Maybe not exactly, but those two shows both came to mind as having some similarities. CIA analyst gets in over his head in terms of his involvement with a global conspiracy of sorts. Pretty good cast with some old names like William Hurt, Mira Sorvino, and Brendan Frasier and a bunch of other "oh that guy" characters. One of those shows where almost nobody is safe from extinction. it's also a modern-day adaptation of the 1975 Robert Redford flick Three Days of the Condor, which is a great movie as well. Catch the first two seasons on Prime.

Season one leaves Prime in eight days fyi

The Mortician on Max is a decent watch. Three episode documentary about a really messed up funeral home in LA. It's one of those where you think you've figured out what's going on, but it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Gone Girls - The Long Island Serial Killer

Incredibly tragic story about the victims of Rex Heuermann, though the real tragedy was the inept and corrupt police force and DA office that dragged their feet because these victims were sex workers. The families had to suffer the loss of loved ones and then watch Chief Wiggums not just botch the investigation but show a level of indifference that is maddening. He and DA should be shot into the Long Island waters in January. F those guys.

Solid 3-part series if you're into True Crime. It's crazy how long this giant ogre of a man lived his life right out in the open as he killed and killed and killed again and again. May his days in prison be long, tortuous and full of pain.

Good catch. I actually just realized that Season 2 is not included with the basic Prime subscription, so I had to sign up for the 7-day free trial of MGM+ (now I just need to remember to cancel).

I enjoyed it as well. Made me think about watching Six Feet Under for the first time in 20 years. Curious how it holds up.

I'm in the middle of 3 shows for some reason...
  • Expanse: finished season 4, on to season 5 now. I'm still glad I'm watching it.
  • Reacher: I'm about 3 episodes into season 3, I like this dumb show. Bad guy's huge.
  • Tires: I started it, it's been funny so far.

8 episodes in on Season 4 of The Bear

TV as good as it gets

To me

same stress level? man, that show is like watching someone trying to repeated catch a falling knife ...

while balancing on the edge of a cliff on a blustery day
4 episodes in. Still one of the most stressful shows I've ever watched. My wife and I were just talking about that.

The Penguin

Yep, that's great TV. Outstanding character development. And villains aren't even anti-heroes...they're villains. And the show doesn't flinch from that

I rarely watch or enjoy any these superhero movies/shows but this one is awesome . It's in rare air up there with The Watchmen.

I'm dealing with this by alternating episodes of The Bear S4 and The Traitors India S1.

Squid Game kicks it up a notch! Hide and Seek was awesome. Introducing an infant is a horror show gangster move unless it somehow survives the whole thing.

Sounds like I need to give The Bear another chance. I tuned into the first episode (1.1) and thought it had potential. Then randomly tuned into the Finale and thought the conclusion was so cheesy and convenient it made me lose interest (tomato sauce cans, really?). Maybe I passed judgement too quick but not a fan of the deus ex machina type endings

I thought it was fine, but stopped somewhere around the middle of season three to cut my losses. I was waiting for it go somewhere, but thought the formula was getting kind of repetitive.

Forgot about that cheese

The top tier acting hasn't failed at all for me

But there have been some hiccups with the writing

Squid game season 3- liked the first 3 episodes, wasn’t a fan of the last 3. Felt ridiculous, even for Squid Game standards

Started Yellowjackets season 1, super good so far

Agree on the thoughts of the Bear above…liked the first two seasons but season 3 was pretty widely panned so I skipped it. Maybe I’ll watch a season 3 summary somewhere then dive into S4…..

We watched season 3. Didn’t really enjoy it. It was ok.
3 episodes into this season I’m asking myself why I’m still watching

Sirens (Netflix) 7/10

Felt like an Apple show where it was good and worth watching but not great. Only 5 episodes so not a major commitment and the pacing was fine. Good show to watch with a significant other. Has somewhat of a White Lotus vibe combined with a Harlan Coben story if that makes sense.

What's funny is that the viewer can interpret the show differently. For example:
I never thought the show had a touch of the supernatural despite the title. My wife, though, thought from the very beginning that the characters - the two sister, Julianne Moore's character, and Bacon's character - were all supernatural with the women as literal Sirens and Kevin Bacon as Poseidon. When my wife explained this to me I admit, even though it didn't dawn on me while watching it, the theory explains the ending well and explains the tragedy of the relationships

6 episodes into season 4. Really enjoyed the first few but it has slowed a bit. Expecting something big in episode 7 with an hour runtime.
