Back on Oct. 10th (see page 33 of this thread), I made this prediction:

"For the fun of it - I'm projecting cut lines for the rest of the elimination weeks. To me the major considerations are: what percentage are being cut, how many teams are on a bye, are there very frequently owned players on a bye, and as the year goes on the sense that scoring will slowly go down as more guys are injured/replaced compared to what we knew when we picked prior to the season.

Week 6: 6 teams on bye, lots of frequently owned guys - Watson, Edwards, Jennings, Williamson, Manning etc., cutting 17% of remaining contestants - cut line: 95

Week 7: 6 teams on bye, some frequently owned guys - Gore, Bush, Bryant, cutting 20% - cut line 104

Week 8: 4 teams on bye, few frequently owned guys - Kitna, Evans, cutting 25% - cut line 123

Week 9: 4 teams on bye, very few frequently owned guys - Delhomme, L.J. Smith (8.8%), cutting 33%, cut line 132

Week 10: no byes, cut 25%, cut line 130

Week 11: no byes, cut 33%, cut line 136

Week 12: no byes, cut 50%, cut line 145

Someone could probably do better looking at what the 25% line was in previous weeks, etc., but this is a first shot at it."

Week 6 cut was 109.5 (off by 14.5)

Week 7 was 101.2 (off by 2.8)

Week 8 was 121.5 (off by 1.5)

Week 9 was 129.8 (off by 2.2)

So after being pretty far off in week 6, my predictions have been pretty good. That means this week the projection is for a cut of 130. Then the next two weeks get really tough.

Way back in preseason, I formed a team that I expected to make it to week 9, where my Delhomme/Smith/Key trio would leave me dangerously close to elimination in a high cut week. I was banking on Maurice Morris being the feature RB by this point in the season and hoping for my willie parker/Engram/Williamson/Gore/Evans type guys to go off.

I didn't count on Maurice being the feature back and sucking, so I missed the cutoff by 10 points.

The only thing keeping me alive in this thing is my WR corps. If Joe Horn can come back healthy (and stay hot), it will be the only thing that carries me further:

Anquan Boldin

Marvin Harrison

Joe Horn

Braylon Edwards

Keyshawn Johnson

Doug Gabriel

Troy Williamson (please wake up)

I haven't been able to come close to matching my Week 3 first place finish, but my guys are doing enough to stay alive.

158.8 for week ten.

Not real excited about losing McGahee for a few weeks. He hasn't counted much, but I wouldn't have made it through week seven without him. I'll will be nice to have cleared the bye weeks though.

Here's hoping for a Viking revival in week 11. I need a contribution or two from Johnson, Taylor, Williamson or Wiggins. They have each counted for me on at least one occassion, but it's time for them to earn their keep...

Good luck everyone!

Barnsie

Made it through with 126.I kind of like how I'm getting by without my players blowing their wads too early. That way they can go off when it counts starting Week 13. Guys on my team like Ocho Cinco, Tiki, and maybe even Reggie Bush might be due for some big weeks late in the year.
You still around Butcher Boy?Or did approximately 1,500 Frank Gore owners outlast you?

1st percentage is what you describe, the 'alive' teams that own the player.2nd percentage is the percent of 'alive' teams of all original teams that chose that player.

Michael Vick 17 7.3 26.1

7.3% of the 'alive' teams own Vick.

26.1% of all teams that owned Vick are still alive.

Put my team together in about 5 minutes on the night of the deadline.

Pretty stoked to still be around. Pretty weak at QB and WR but with Tomlinson and Westbrook anything can happen.

Happily I miscounted my stats, made the cut in good shape at a hair over 150.

Just noticed my most expensive QB (Hasselbeck - $22) only contributed to my score twice (before his injury, obviously), and it didn't matter--my #2 QB those weeks would have carried me over the cut line. Whereas without my #1 WR's contributions I'd have been cut in 8. Without my #1 RB I'd have been gone in 7. Ben Watson's week 3 score of 12.6 is what kept me above that early cut, when my other TE got zero'd out. Other than Hass, my extra $1 spent on Stover as my K hasn't mattered--yet--but he is my only K at the moment since Hall was cut. Neither D was a difference maker yet, either, but I paid the same for both.

I guess I could have spread $23 elsewhere as far as contributors go. I still have 1 RB and 1 WR yet to chip in... so my waste count is up to $27. Just found it interesting in hindsight.

I will take the place of the Goreless team. :banned:

Extrapolating from those numbers, it seems that the way to win this thing is with your lesser %OWNed players. Lessee....that would mean for the remainder of this contest I need the bulk of my scoring from:

Alex Smith

Rudi Johnson

Marion Barber III

Keyshaun Johnson

Ernest Wilford

Bobby Engram

Chris Cooley

Jason Elam

Minnesota D/ST

good lluck with that...

Well, I'm out. I blame Reggie Bush.

I guess I should've had Gore on my team or something. :bag:

But I suppose I should be happy to have made it this far for my first year in the contest and considering I didnt even begin looking at this until the night of the deadline.

I totally disagree with that. Its the combination of players - even if they are owned highly. For example: Manning + LT + Wayne. My core. Even if, individually, their ownership gets high the real issue is how many have ALL 3. So you can have, across the board, all highly owned players because the combo of your players is going to be at a much lower percentage.Does that make sense?

So far everyone on my team has contributed at least twice except for Barlow, Matt Jones and Scheffler, who haven't contributed to my scores at all. I would expect that to change for Jones if I can hang in there for another week or two.

Yup. I considered that as well--and with all going off frequently that's probably even better odds as you'd need fewer good role players. However, since I don't have the triplets (and doubt that many teams pulled that off....) I'm rooting more for the my bit players! :D

Sheeesh! No kidding!I'm going to have a tough time beating that team as our TE corps is identical, 4 of the same WRs, and he's got LT & FWP.The only way I beat that team is if he gets bitten by the injury bug.

Under 15% players:

McNabb 5.9

Culpepper 8.9

Dunn 12.3

McCardell 5.5

Troupe 5.8

Tynes 4.1

Jaguars 6.8

Falcons 7.5

I this says that I am very average and will be lucky to survive to the finals. But if I do I will be rooting for the Falcons to win four in a row by scores of 48-0.

I think the cut is going to be low this week. Watson did nothing...lot of the $1 variety guys came up small today. Manning didn't light it up.

P.Manning 15.5

Kevin Jones 20.5

Kevan Barlow 15.2

FWP...

Reggie Wayne 14.2

Lee Evans 12

TJ Housh 15.8...so far

Ben Watson 1.6

Tony Scheffler...

M.Stover 9

J.Brown...

Miami 3

San Diego 4 so far

107.8, uh oh....Not too many players left and they would have to score a lot of points to leapfrog...Manning did not help me much today...no points form the TE or Def/ST really.

Interesting to see if the cut is low this week, I had LT, Gore, Palmer, Wayne, Edwards, Evans, which should get me by. LT looks to be the money guy.

Thanks to Palmer, Gore, KJones and Driver I'm at about 143 with Javon Walker (-6.9) and Feely (-6) still to go. I think I may make it through another week.

Anyone know if the Philly D gets credit for 1 or 2 tds. The first td was a pass to Reggie Brown, who fumbled, but was caught in the air by Buckhalter, who ran it in for a td. The score line reads 37 yard funble return.

The 2nd td is a clean int for a td. No questions on that one.

that's not a def TD. no change of possession.

153The Manning/LT/Wayne Trio of Domination continues...
how much $$$ did you spend on those three
i've got wayne, tomlinson and mcnabb, so whatever that adds up to.you were able to get tomlinson this year b/c gore was so cheap. so at RB i went tomlinson, gore, fwp (also cheap), then barlow and blaylock for cheap also.at QB though i had to go simms and then jaime martin. i got lucky last year and survived mcnabb's bye week but that was a bad strategy in hindsight.i figured with 16000 competitors i couldn't really plan for injury so get a couple of studs and gamble with the rest.

Hopefully I'm alright

Dellhome

LT2

Bush

Housh

Caldwell

Edwards

EDITED TO ADD: Take out Bush and put in FWP.
