Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (4 Viewers)

Hey, now that we've drafted, I'd like to unveil the league-wide shirts we'll all wear on Thursday (we will?) in a show of solidarity.

Here we are

Sums it up about perfectly, no?

Yeah yeah yeah.

Bro....where is the muscle-half-shirt option for those of us showing off bod?

Not that I want to be body-shamming others....

I...I don't know about the first question. Navel exposure on males is illegal in twenty out of fifty states, I hear. They might have gotten word from their lawyers on that one.

The second statement? That is definitely a DJax thread. If a body see a body coming through the rye...

What is a navel? What is a male? What is a state? What is a fat guy? No one knows. :(

I just don't wanna body shamm a dude who doesn't want to work out while others take steroids and what not.

How do I add that to our music draft sheet?

We've never used in-season sheets before. If we double up, so be it. I'm also not holding everyone accountable to the pick-a-song rule. I was derelict last year and know how it can get away from people. But we should try our best, I think.

Like, if you dropped Sony Michel, picked a song for him already, and then added him again, I'm not sure the quick turnaround demands a song.

But Jake Elliott, K, can be

Dean's Dream - The Dead Milkmen

The Dead Milkmen are from Philly. The song also synergistically made my Punk Hundred. It's a more cerebral and ethereal track than the Milkmen were used to giving, but it was a welcome departure from their more bratty persona.

I escaped to the theater to see a girl with long blond hair right down to there
I escaped to the theater to see a girl...we had to leave
We have actually added the in season add drops and music picks at the bottom in most past years. Until I forget/stop anyway.

Recent purchase just arrived. Otis Redding's The Dock Of The Bay. Going to give the full album a listen. I know it's one of my favorite songs ever, and I was getting blown away by the rest of the album the other day. Figured I'd buy it and pay it full attention on my rig. Too many plane crashes, too many great popular music stars taken.

Watching the tide roll away...

I listened to my playlist. It's not as bad as I thought it would be during its making; hopefully my team will follow the same route..

I intentionally avoided artist/city pairs this time in favor of song title references with a Country Blues Roots theme. It doesn't flow like a playlist but I think it has kind of a radio show feel which is fine for a fantasy football league.

In honor of the song My Chemical Romance closed the set with last night and the fact my roster features past fantasy favourites Aaron Rodgers, Antonio Gibson, Derrick Henry, Juju Smith-Schuster, Tyreek Hill, Ronald Jones, Curtis Samuel, Carson Wentz, Mecole Hardman among others, my team will now be called NVs Kids From Yesterday

My wife's favorite song.

Love listening to it with her.

Team looks good. I'm a little surprised you got Saquon that late. People must be really frightened off of him because of his injury history. If I held the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th spot you'd have been sniped!

Who exactly did you reach on? I'm not seeing it so much. Maybe your 11th and 12th round picks, but not really.

Judging by the reaction in the room, my league mates thought I reached on Saquon, so you have a higher opinion of him than them. They are nearly all from the west coast, I'm from CT, so I don't think there is much respect for the Giants. But yes, I didn't feel I reached, although my friends took Kelce, Jones and Swift in quick order and laughed at me for passing on them.

My two "reaches" were Allen Robinson in round 4 - his adp was about a round lower (we draft on ESPN) - folks thought Diontae Johnson and Chris Godwin were better values - and Michael Thomas in round 5, his adp was about a dozen spots lower. After that I didn't reach at all, I just kept taking the best available. I was surprised Pierce was still available that late.

I feel like either or both of Robinson and Thomas could far exceed their draft spots and boost my chances. I felt the same way last year when I got Cooper Kupp in round 4, it felt like stealing.

That's weird. Those are the two that I was going to say something about but thought that it seemed right where you took them. I guess Robinson went 5.01 and Thomas went 6.08 in the Shining Path thread, so about half a round and a round ahead. I agree with your take, though. And Pierce being available that late is surprising, as is D'Andre Swift not going before Barkley did. But oh well. Sounds like you had fun, and a good draft.

Your friends are wrong. :D

Early in the draft season I was ranking Swift ahead of Barkley, but by this weekend I had Saquon one spot higher. Can't really give you a great reason except that we've seen a Top 5 RB season from Barkley but not yet, despite all his promise, from Swift. And apparently Barkley looks fit again. Plus it's hard to get excited about the Lions offense, although for sure they can turn out excellent fantasy players (I lost in the 'Ship of this Home League last year thanks to the other guy trumping my Cooper Kupp with his Amon-Ra St. Brown!). Not that the Giants offense excites me, but I feel like Saquon is a bigger guaranteed piece of their offense than Swift is of the Lions.

@Doug B , I think you are the only one who hasn't put in any kind of lineup. The suspense is killing me. How can I trash talk? Although it probably means you had a nice long weekend.

I had Kupp in two leagues last year, but didn't win a title in either of them because his production during FF playoff weeks was merely good instead of otherworldly, and the rest of my teams didn't do enough to make up for it.

With apologies to @rockaction , this thread needs more Ticketmaster!

I went online today to file a report with the attorney general, and I came across their BBB site and see they seem to respond pretty regularly to resolve complaints there, so I filled out the form. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, Amex has refunded my money for the Seahawks tix, but the Ringo ones are a loss.

The absolute madness I've gone through with them is striking me as :lmao: at this point, so I thought I'd share. I made two inquiries because the first didn't receive a response within the timeframe they indicated. I got my responses on both the same day, last Monday. On the second one, they said that they saw "unusual activity" on my account and that a person from the fraud department would call me "within 24 hours." Of course they never did, and when I've written back to ask, they just keep telling me someone will be in touch and I should "keep my line open" (i.e., do not get on my phone, for over eight days now).

Here's a synopsis of the discussion on the other one, but with a lot fewer "ALL CAPS" than I used:

Me: I can't access my account as it doesn't recognize my email as having one. Here's a bunch of pertinent info and screenshots.

Them: We can help you log in if you give us every bit of info we can think of that you might not have.

Me: Here's all the requested info.

Them: We'll look into your refund, but here's our refund policy and our policy on the cancellation and rescheduling of events.

Me: I'm not looking for a refund, and my events haven't been cancelled. I just want to access my account.

Them: Sorry for the confusion. I've submitted a request to research your account. In the meantime, here's our purchase and refund policy.

Me: Thank you.

Them: [crickets]

Me again, three days later: Checking in.

Me again, one day later: Checking in.

Them: Based on our research, here is the email address you need to log in. [Gives me the email address I can't log in from.]

Me: No, that is the problem. The app and site say that email doesn't have an account. I'm attaching screenshots of both for you.

Them: [crickets]

Me again, three days later: Checking in.

Them: Hi Yessica Torres, here are the instructions for using our mobile app, because your phone is your ticket!

Them again: Please disregard that message.

Them again: Hi Krista, here are the instructions for using our mobile app, because your phone is your ticket!

Me: I don't need instructions on how to use the mobile app. I can't use the mobile app because it doesn't recognize the address associated with my account. I can't use mobile entry when I can't access my account.

Them: If your mobile ticket isn't showing in your account when you go to the venue, go to the mobile resolution window that opens an hour before the event.

Me: The issue is not with a particular mobile ticket, but with the fact that the app is not recognizing my account at all. Here are those screenshots again.

Them: We can help you log in if you give us every bit of info we can think of that you might not have.

Me: Copies and pastes all the same info in the very first response I sent.

Have you tried calling 800-653-8000? You may get nowhere, but it is worth a try. Their online support/robot is just spitting out solutions to common problems that has nothing to do with your issue.

Thanks. I hit "laugh" on your post because calling that number is even worse than dealing with anyone by email. Trust me. Try it! (No, don't - I like you.)

How are you feeling? Have you figured out the hair-washing strategy?

With a handful of exceptions, my experiences with customer service chats/chatbots have been unsatisfactory.

I'd love to talk to an actual human in person. It's simply not something they do.

Edit to be more clear: the number simey posted does not connect you to a human. It either is not answered at all (more frequent) or, rarely, it answers and then just directs you through a series of FAQ and directs you to the website, then hangs up on you.

How are you feeling? Have you figured out the hair-washing strategy?
I'm feeling ok. My shoulder hurts on and off. I hate changing shirts, because that is really painful. I haven't slept much. I know healing takes time, and my shoulder will feel better and better in the weeks to come. I see a lady at the orthopedic place on Friday, and I have a lot of questions for her. The good news is I've done a much better job washing my hair. This last time it looked clean all over! I'm hoping I will be told Friday that it is fine to get those two incision places fully wet now, and I can wash my hair in the shower.

I'd love to talk to an actual human in person. It's simply not something they do.
I remember when people either had to wait in line to buy tickets at a place that sold them, or you had to call on the telephone to order them.

Me too! I guess this is meant to be "progress," but now I'm longing for the days when you could call or actually just show up at a box office.

Have you guys met my friend, Hugsy? He pops in time to time when I'm about to get suspended for a performance in say, maybe a thread about COVID. Anyway, he's really cool and I think you should introduce yourselves about now.

Huh. That's odd. Hugsy seems to have disappeared. Oh well. That's cool. Seems like a super-positive, decent-enough guy, though his grammar lacks sophistication.

Phone orders were pretty much the standard by the time I was buying concert tickets. I rarely ever bought in person at a box office and never camped out.

I was damn good on the phone, though.

I think my recently fortified ignore feature is preventing me from seeing the full picture of what happened in that thread.

The language filter isn't working right now for words that begin with ***. Otherwise, I didn't direct nothing at nobody. Just an off-handed comment about somebody telling somebody their mother didn't die from COVID, but from a co-morbidity. The need to point that out was, shall we say, somewhat lacking in empathy and more befitting of an anonymous ******* on the internet.

And Ticketmaster. Never forget!

You'll be happy to know that I was on my phone so I decided to read your Ticketmaster story after dinner. Sounds like exactly why I dropped out of dealing with corporate entities unless absolutely necessary.

Are we talking about the general COVID thread?

No, the Ba.5 (or whatever) thread on the front page. Some guy asked a not-so-innocent question about somebody else, and the guy who got asked the question played it like it was a straight question, which it wasn't. It was a totally ******** question asked by an ******* on the internet. I then said so. I don't think I directed anything at anybody, but it's a bit suspect.

You'll be happy to know that I was on my phone so I decided to read your Ticketmaster story after dinner. Sounds like exactly why I dropped out of dealing with corporate entities unless absolutely necessary.

It might go without saying, but I've sworn off Ticketmaster. Bought backup Ringo tix for the next night in Portland, which happily could be purchased directly from the venue. Then I found that the tix for Peter Hook I was looking to buy in Vancouver via Ticketmaster, which is what alerted me to the whole issue, were available for his Seattle show via Axs instead. (Long story involving OH's work schedule as to why we weren't looking at Seattle to begin with, but now he's going to call in *cough* sick *cough* to go to Seattle show.) Got the refund from Amex for the Seahawks tix.

Now just give me my $700 for those original Ringo tix (or give me access so I can sell them for 6x my original price or more), and TM and I never have to darken each other's doors again.

Oof. I'll be on the lookout for problems with TM in the future. So far, I've had nothing go wrong aside from the absurd fees they charge for getting tickets for indie bands, which are sometimes close to one-third of the ticket price itself.

Thanks, TM.

On a similar note, Paypal is doing something like that with me right now. They won't let me transfer money from my bank account into their wallet (so you know it's screwed up) to pay people. Something is wrong with their system and they can't figure it out. Leaves me out on a limb selling records and buying them. So access problems? I can sympathize, though losing 6x the price of the ticket would really upset me.
