Uh oh. Looked like I spoke too soon about that fire. It apparently, depending on the wind in Hemet, might be headed our way @dkp993. Get your emergency response ready because we might need it.

Sometimes living in Southern California sucks. Even when it rains, the fires still rage and the storm only means that the winds have picked up.

We're under a red flag warning right now, but nothing near me thank goodness. Hope you guys will be safe.

Yeah it’s been a crazy 24hrs…. Had to stop and evacuate a wedding mid event at one of my venues that was in the zone last night. Then had to cancel tonight’s wedding, Saturday‘s and Sundays. Yes 4 weddings, 4 brides at the last moments before something they’ve been waiting for for who knows how long. Not fun. And oh yeah our houses are possibly in the path. It’s been a long day.

And Rams got run last night. Can’t win for losing Right now. Lol.

I’ve already been evacuated once in my life (the big SD fires 15ish yrs ago) and came very close to losing my home. Was not fun but in the end I was one of the lucky ones.

Take your touchdown from Kupp, and give it to Robinson, and it may make you feel better. I played against Kupp in the music league (this one), and in my long-time money league. My money league is standard, and I played Gabriel Davis, so I hung in there. As for my Katmankoo team, I'll just say I now have laryngitis from what I had to say to my players about covering/not covering Kupp. :<_<:

I also played Henderson in that league so between the three of them, they averaged more than 15 points (PPR) even with Robinson’s dud.

I expect to play all three of them again next week vs Atlanta. If Robinson still can’t get it done against the Falcons, then I’ll re-evaluate.

LOL. Thanks for the hospitality thoughts, Doc. I have no idea what is going on with the fire, but as far as I can discern from reading, the rain we're getting is keeping it at bay for now. So it will be football Sunday by the time we really know anything. The problem with the rain in Southern California is that areas that aren't built for it tend to flood, so then there are several public concerns. Mine is the fire. A little flooding, unless you're traveling, is okay here. Not enough water to drown in, really.

Rock. According to Cal fire the moisture from the storm has dramatically helped and they’ve made significant headway. It’s now 40% contained and they reduced the mandatory evacuation area. All really good signs considering it jumped from 5% contained to 40 in the last 12 hours or so.
 
Last night, I dreamt that @simey and I were in Chicago and I was showing her around this huge college campus that does not actually exist in Chicago. She asked me where we were, and I told her University of Illinois, then quickly corrected myself to say that was in Champaign and that we must be at Northwestern (which we weren't). Then simey demanded that I give her specific information on each team in the Big Ten, including exactly how far each of them was from Chicago. I was doing OK until I got to places like Rutgers.

I hope my hair looked good in your dream. So how far is Rutgers from Chicago?? 🙃 I'm not very knowledgeable on Illinois. I do want to go to Chicago one day. When I did my internship in Florida, there were 4 girl interns in an apt., and 4 guy interns in an apt. Two interns, a girl and guy, were from the University of Illinois. My University of Illinois roommate is from South Holland, Illinois. We had so much fun. She still lives in Florida. My oldest nephew told me recently that he and his girlfriend are going to visit Chicago within the year to see what it is like.

My niece is starting her first year at University of Illinois-Chicago. Her mom (my sister) and I flew out of O'Hare after our recent trip to the North Woods. We had enough to time in town to visit Allison's dorm, assemble some Ikea furniture, eat some great dim sum in Chinatown and grab an Italian beef at Al's #1. I thought the UIC campus was pretty nice but I've always loved Chicago.

Ha. This morning I asked my college buddy (a Lions fan originally from the Detroit area) if he was going to the Lions-Eagles game. He said no because he is driving his oldest daughter to Chicago for her freshman year at Northwestern.

I'd never heard of South Holland, so just looked it up. I see it's near Homewood and Flossmoor, which is where my uncle taught high school forever. Homewood-Flossmoor is an oasis in an otherwise bleak part of Chicagoland, so I suspect South Holland is kinda bleak. :frown:

I know it is in NJ, and that you were being funny. I did the thinking face to look like a clueless dumbass. I was going to write something back at you, but my computer stalled so I got on my laptop, which I still don't use very well. I typed something, and then the page floated off to the right, and I don't know where it went. I'm on a Mac that I don't use much.

Thanks, the rain has really helped and they say it will be contained by Monday. What that means for us, I'm not sure, but they're repopulating homes as opposed to evacuating them now, so that's a good sign.

Also, I don't think anyone could have been questioning whether you knew where Rutgers was.

Also also, the sky is orange here from the fire and ash. So gross. Looks like Seoul did when I was there, except I think Seoul always looks that way. It's not as bad as a couple of years ago when it seemed like nighttime in the middle of the day, though. Luckily I can just stay in and watch football tomorrow, since we'll continue to be under a warning not to leave the house.

Also also also, speaking of football, be prepared to lose. :gang1:

Yum! It is. My uncle and his family live in Arizona now, and when I visited them in April they got pizza from someplace they said was "just like Aurelio's." It was really good, but the only thing I could see it had in common was that the pizza was cut in squares. :lmao:

We were nerdishly strict on the mileage restrictions in the first couple of years of this league. I learned a lot about the relative isolation of college towns in those drafts.

Simey's been in the league since the start so I'll vouch for her college location prowess even though East Carolina isn't a state.

Those first two years with the strict mileage rules were challenging, but also educational.

I'm glad that during the ECU/NCSU game, the commentators didn't call my school Eastern Carolina. I remember In a past bowl game, a commentator called us Eastern Carolina through the whole game. It was awful. It isn't the name of the school. I had to mute it.

The day the sky turned orange in SF just came up in my photo memory notifications. September 9, 2020.

Northern California has been lucky to escape most of the heat and fires this season so far. Hopefully we'll get a little moisture from the remnants of hurricane Kay.

My 12-team PPR redraft had its draft today. First-in person draft I've attended since before the pandemic. Third round reversal. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 flex (not Superflex), 1 K, 1 D. I feel pretty good about my team (at least it should be fun to watch), but I'll probably lose in week 1 because my opponent has Allen and Diggs.

Sun in the western sky was blood-orange and small today, @ 3.30 pm in Central Oregon. The smoke from all around makes it feel like "The Road" here. We've been through this before, and we have it good compared to some. The tinderbox sucks these days, my friends.
