Late Games

Denver at Carolina

All signs point to Denver having all four linebackers healthy this week. The most likely result is for Wes Woodyard to bump Jamie Winborn out of some nickel snaps with DJ Williams returning at WLB. It’s very possible that Woodyard may stay in the lineup with Williams moving inside. With luck, we’ll get some indication when the inactives/lineups are released 90 minutes before gametime. That information will be posted with a quickness. Champ Bailey is again inactive.

Carolina has no significant defensive inactives.

Minnesota at Arizona

Jared Allen is active, was questionable and practiced only on a limited basis Friday after sitting Wed/Thur. It’ll be interesting to see if Allen played on adrenaline last week and has to sit or whether he truly does have a superhuman pain tolerance. Local media speculation that the Vikes may choose to go with a three safety dime package against the Cardinals could mean not-so-good things for Chad Greenway – that’s entirely writer speculation, however.

Clark Haggans is inactive, but the Cardinals have no other significant defensive inactives.

New England at Oakland

Tedy Bruschi is out with a knee sprain. It remains unclear what the Pats will do without him, but the smart money is probably on Junior Seau playing on a lot of base downs, with Guyton in on nickel and dime snaps. It appears as if Vince Wilfork will play, with Ty Warren possibly back -- both are ACTIVE today. James Sanders is inactive. Pierre Woods in now on IR.

The Raiders have no significant defensive inactives.

Pittsburgh at Baltimore

Brett Keisel is out this week. James Harrison and Troy Polamalu practiced fully on Friday with minor injuries and are both active.

The Ravens have a couple of minor dings (Jim Leonhard was sick and Ed Reed is banged up) but no significant inactives.

SNF

New York Giants at Dallas

Fred Robbins was added to the injury report as questionable Friday, presumably after aggravating his shoulder injury. Justin Tuck is listed probable with a leg injury after missing most of practice this week.

Ken Hamlin is listed probable, but didn’t practice this week with a foot injury. Bradie James and Demarcus Ware practiced fully on Friday.

MNF

Cleveland at Philadelphia

Shaun Rogers was limited all week with a shoulder injury.

Stewart Bradley was added to the injury report with a groin injury on Thursday, but was listed probable and practiced fully both Thursday and Friday.

--------------------------------

Early Games

Buffalo at New York Jets

Jabari Greer will be out again with his knee injury; Leodis McKelvin remains a safe play in returner leagues. Aaron Schobel was finally placed on IR this week with a confirmed Lisfranc sprain.

Both Eric Barton and David Harris were limited all week, but are both ACTIVE. Barton’s knee injury is a bigger concern; it’s not surprising that Harris would be resting. Kris Jenkins was limited all week as well with a hip injury, Bryan Thomas with a shoulder. Both Jenkins and Thomas are active. All four were questionable. Vernon Gholston is inactive.

Detroit at Indianapolis

Dewayne White is back this week, but moves back to left end (probably in a rotational role), with rookie Cliff Avril looking more and more like the long term option at right end. Cory Redding was put on IR this week with a knee injury. Leigh Bodden is questionable with a groin injury, and was limited at best this week but is active today.

Tyjuan Hagler is out this week. Bob Sanders practiced fully Friday but is INACTIVE today. Freddy Keiaho is questionable but practiced fully Friday and is ACTIVE. Eric Foster is questionable, but did not practice all week and is INACTIVE.

Green Bay at Jacksonville

Atari Bigby is again out. Brandon Chillar is listed probable after increasing his practice participation this week. The Packers would not confirm their starting backers on Friday after practice, but Chillar wasn’t seeing much time with the first team on Thursday. Another situation we’ll hope to see a meaningful note on Sunday AM.

Jacksonville has no significant defensive inactives.

San Diego at Kansas City

Clinton Hart is inactive. Steve Gregory would replace him.

Donnie Edwards is inactive, was questionable and was limited all week. Maurice Leggett is inactive, didn’t practice Friday with a shoulder injury and is also questionable.

San Francisco at Miami

Nate Clements practiced fully all week with his thumb injury and is active. No significant inactives for San Francisco.

Miami has no significant defensive inactives.

Seattle at St. Louis

Leroy Hill is out again this week. Josh Wilson is active, was listed probable after last week’s concussion. He was limited in practice Thur/Fri.

The Rams are dinged everywhere, but have no significant defensive inactives.

Tampa Bay at Atlanta

Jovan Haye and Chris Hovan were both limited on Friday with knee issues. Haye is active but expected to play in rotation only, Hovan is OUT.

John Abraham and Erik Coleman are both questionable and were limited all week. NFLN reporting that Michael Boley and Keith Brooking may rotate with Stephen Nicholas and Coy Wire today.

Tennessee at Houston

Kyle Vanden Bosch is out, which saves us from wondering how much he’d actually play this week. Albert Haynesworth is active, was questionable, but practiced fully Friday.

Nick Ferguson is active, was probable and practiced fully on Friday. He’ll likely rejoin the starting lineup this week.

Washington at Cincinnati

Marcus Washington is again out. Chris Horton has already been downgraded to out this morning with a shoulder injury, with Mike Green replacing him. London Fletcher did not practice again this week, but is active, as is Shawn Springs. DeAngelo Hall is starting for Carlos Rogers. Cornelius Griffin is inactive.

Chinedum Ndukwe is inactive, was doubtful and didn’t practice all week. Kyries Hebert should replace him.

Jene, what's the word on Hobbs? Will he be limited at all?
I've haven't seen anything other than he was limited in practice all week. There was a lot going on in New England this week, but the writers out there are usually solid about getting information out. I think you're probably safe here.

Late games are killers today.

Gut calls:

Jared Allen starts and plays well enough.

DJ Williams starts outside, with Wes Woodyard playing in a few nickel situations and/or rotating in every third series for Jamie Winborn.

Gary Guyton and Junior Seau rotate.

--------

I'll have whatever I can find ASAP. There has been nothing new posted in Denver this morning. Cecil's feeling all week is that you'll see Webster in the middle and Woodyard in the nickel. If you've got both and can wait, we should get some indication later.

DeAngelo Hall starting for Carlos Rogers???

No indication of the reasons here. Warmup injury? Disciplinary? Try to get some followup if I can.
:)
He was on the injury report with an illness, but practiced fully Thur/Fri. Nothing of note coming in the blog. He's going to see plenty of time, I'd think, unless there's an injury no one's aware of yet.
Is that in reference to Hall or Rogers? This is frustrating, I'm just going to play Bethea.

What about Williams and Winborn should they be safe to use?

In reference to Rogers. The Bengals won't be ahead in this game and frequently play out of three WR sets. I think we'd have heard about an injury, so I think this is a disciplinary deal or a nod to the two more physical corners. Purely speculation, but I'd bet all three corners get at least 60% of the snaps today, if not more, especially with Horton down. All the information I have unfortunately is what's in the La Canfora link. He's the best of the Washington beat writers. If there's something to be reported before gametime, he'll have it up.

The Panthers won't force many nickel snaps, unless the Broncos get ahead big and early and that seems unlikely.Safe to use? Pretty tough call -- the Broncos surprised everyone with the Larsen thing last month.I think Williams is safe. Winborn probably safe. Woodyard least safe. Panther matchup good enough that all three could still hit six solos, even if none of them play more than 70% of the snaps.

Good luck today everyone.

Posted some gut calls on the afternoon stuff above. It'd been nice to get a little more clarity, .

When in doubt go with your gut, and go with high upside if your other options aren't all that great anyway. We'll get the afternoon stuff up when we get it.

Oh and apologies for not mentioning, but you'd be in a world of hurt if you were counting on Corey Chavous anyway.

Todd Johnson starts for him at SS this week. He's a huge longshot as well.

Does anyone know if Demeco got hurt in the Tennessee game? I would have thought with as much as the Titans run that he was going to have a great matchup and so far he only has 1 ast. :X

What the heck is going on with Cromartie and Robert Mathis. Of coarse I started both of them and they have no stats so far. Anyone watching the Indi or Charger game? What's the deal?

Champ Bailey inactive, Williams and Webster active.

Any lineup information will be posted when available.
Blog above now reporting no lineup changes at linebacker. Unless the press sheet no longer considers him a starter since he's been out for over a month (and there are no Spencer Larsen-like surprises, Williams apparently stays at WLB and starts.Expect Woodyard to rotate in, possibly at both OLB spots.

Will continue to update with new tidbits.

Wes Woodyard is starting at SS, though he's in the box. Broncos essentially start in a 44 alignment against the Panther stud rushers.

Won't take long for Smith etal to get them out of that.

Well as a S. SMith owner I'm loving it but as a Bronco fan not so much. Its good to see DJ back in. Hopefully he can get back to form so I can start him next week.
