Bad play call? Those pick plays work like 99% of the time in the NFL. It was just a great defensive play. Butler jumped that route perfectly.
No sorry. Not a bad play call. A terrible one. Embarrassingly bad. Unnecessary.
Yet we heard all night and week how money Wilson is in crunch time. Seems people were fine putting it in his hands until it didn't work out.
Yes he is money in crunch time. You believe that one play means he isn't?
I think it's easy to criticize the play now, after you know it didn't work. Had it worked I don't think anyone is questioning it, let alone calling it one of the worst ever.

Who cares if it's Wilson? J.H. Christ could be behind Center and wit the time left and the TOs (and the face that NE didn't call a TO)..... you give it to Marshawn
Yet if that play works I'm sure everyone is saying it was genius and the legend of Wilson in crunch time grows exponentially.Sometimes you just get beat by a guy making a great play. That's what Butler did.
This is the part you're missing; even if it worked, it was the wrong call.

It was second down. Wilson was supposed to throw it away. I'm guessing but I'm pretty sure.
Huh? it was a slant..he knew exactly what he wanted to do. The rookie made a great play on the ball.

Awful play call.

 even if they did score I'd still think it was stupid to risk it. If they hadZero timeouts then yes pass.. but when you have Lynch, a timeout and 30 seconds for the win you go with Lynch 100% of the time.

Congrats pats fans. Hawk fans pretty much suck balls, but I'm still sorry, brutal way to lose. You guys will be back, way too good a program. Great game by both teams.

You aren'ts stopping Lynch there. He was getting at least 2 or 3 yards a pop even on plays the Pats won the line. I am 95% confident they score on a Lynch Run there. If they don't you call timeout and reevaluate. No excuse to pass there at all.

I rooted against Patriots hard this game - cannot stand the perception of cheating and arrogance from Belichik....but, mad props to that organization to be so consistently good. Essentially two really good players and a system - but they won another championship. Unreal, but props to them.

No question worst play call in league history no?

You've got one more run with the TO and time....how do you not use it? You're best freakin player!! I'm still in shock.

Wow. That was the greatest football game I've ever seen in my life.

First off, congrats to Seattle and their great fans for an amazing game. You guys are some of the toughest mofo's in football history. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you guys. Tough loss, but you should hold your head up high. You'll be back I'm sure.

More later. I'm shot.

While true the Seahawks got too cute there instead of doing the smart thing and paid dearly for it.

I'm no OC but as soon as he went to gun I said to my son 'what are they doing?' - so I assume most other regular fans were questioning before the play.

That call was Carroll trying to make Wilson stick it to brady and it will go down as worst call in nfl history.

Jesus Christ. Throwing it there wasn't even the worst coaching decision in the last :45. If they score there isn't a single person in here saying they got lucky and should have run it.

This was a great Super Bowl. NE earned this win. Congrats.

Tough loss for Sea but still a very good season.

That was like a great movie with a horrible ending. So much fun, so exciting while you're watching it, but the ending ruins everything. Worst Superbowl ending ever.
Best ending ever. That ridiculous catch at the end makes you think the excessively annoying Seahawks somehow found a way to pull yet another one out of their asses at the end but then get cute and blow it.

What?
The good guys were going to win. The evil cheaters were going to go down. It was all set up that way. It was going to be a glorious Hollywood ending. But they screwed it up.

It's as if Luke Skywalker got blown up by the Death Star. The movie is ruined.
