I think this thread is Exhibit A in the case against a two week break between the championship games and the Super Bowl.

I think this thread is Exhibit A in the case against a two week break between the championship games and the Super Bowl.
I think this post is Exhibit A in the case against people who reply to threads without reading them to see if the very comment they're making has been made a half dozen times already.

You mean, exactly what the Seahawks fans do when their team is questioned?
Last time a Seahawk fan was questioned, she turned into the form of a giant Stay-Puft marshmallow man and ravaged New York. It's best to just not question Seahawk fans.

The Seahawks rule and they're going to win, and I can't believe I used to cheer for a team that has no cheerleaders.
:goodposting:
:lmao: :lmao: I can't believe I said that.
Why you don't like cheerleaders?
They're all vapid. Plus, none of them want to #### me.
Aren't you the one who hides dirty underwear in the ceiling?
No. I'm the one who fires those who hide dirty underwear in the ceiling.
I think that's clearly an overreaction.

I'd like to see how you'd react if people tried to devalue Seattle's wins by coming up with lame excuses.  "Oh, Steve Smith's ankle was bothering him, that's the only reason they beat Carolina, or... the refs HANDED them that game against Washington."  It would be garbage, and you'd know it.
You mean comments like "the Seahawks haven't beaten anybody"?I would reply as you have...but I would not then rail against the very act of speculation. I also don't think I'd feel compelled to respond to EVERY challenge to the Seahawks either (actually I don't think that...I know that...since I haven't done so here).

Speculate all you want on the outcome of the game coming up, but enough with Jake Plummer's flu, and Vanderjagt's miss, and Palmer's injury, and Harper's cut to the inside, etc.. etc.. etc.... they're all just convenient excuses.  Bottom line : the Steelers easily outplayed all 3 teams they've beaten to get here, so stop chalking it up to luck already.  Now, if you want to say you think Seattle will stomp them, fine.  However, if you begin to make disparaging comments like "the Pittsburgh offense is an illusion"... then be prepared to back that opinion up with some facts or observations, that's all.
For the record I haven't made any of those wild speculations myself. My few posts here on the game were, I believe, pretty fair and grounded. I also don't think of you personally when I refer to the steel militia. While definately a member, you are at least respectful in your dissent. I think if you read my specific posts you'd find I have been too. That being said, the steelers are SO set up for a fall this week it's stunning and I believe a lot of the fans feel it. When I read some of the stuff steeler fans are saying I can't shake the feeling that it's only half written to convince the reader and half written to convince themselves. The whole thing comes off as self-stimulation trying to convince themselves that they really ARE as good as they hope they are.

It's all good though :football:

Funny, this is how a lot of Seahawks fans come across to me. :D Look, Steelers fans know how good the Steelers are, and very few of them are out there disrespecting the Seahawks.

Have the Seahawks played a cake schedule? Sure they have, but that doesn't mean they aren't a good team. I myself made a post about wanting to know why they seemingly struggled on the road much more than at home, and why their games played against tougher opponents were close every time. I got some good responses in that thread because Seahawk fans know more about their team than I do.

Have the Steelers caught some breaks along the way? Sure they have, and so have the Seahawks - like playing an easier schedule and catching the Panthers with their 4th string RB. The Steelers have been dominating, too. Just because a Steelers fan is correcting some misinformation posted by someone else doesn't mean they're cocky or disrespectul. More often than not, someone who watches a team every week knows more about that team than someone who doesn't.

I didn't fire him for that, he was also stealing from the company.

I agree totally - my comments were not directed at you. I was merely refuting your statement regarding the "flop sweat", etc.... at least as it pertains to me personally.

I would not then rail against the very act of speculation.
I'm not railing against speculation at all, I'm railing against convenient excuses. All I want is for people to provide some sort of intelligent analysis with their predictions, and I don't consider speculation about "what might have happened" in previous games pertinent, that's all. There's a big difference between speculating about what might happen and speculating about what might HAVE happened.

I think most of those Steeler fans have seen the 4 AFCC losses and the Super Bowl loss in the last 10 years and aren't about to go lipping off about how "we're going to kick your ###!" I think if Seahawk fans had watched the team go down in flames in big games that many times, they'd be more cautious choosing their words as well. What you sense is cautious optimism, not "flop sweat" or hedging.I stand by my 27-20 Steelers prediction. It may be wrong, but it's still how I see this game going.

Steelers - 34Seahawks - 20I just think that LeBeau and Whisenhunt have been doing such a great job in the playoffs and that will continue. The game plans have been outstanding and the Steelers have more balance as a team than they've ever had. It's hard to have watched this team the last three games and think there's a team out there that can beat them right now.

Best offensive play caller in the NFL has the edge. A couple 80+ yard touchdown drives will do it. With 25 touchdown drives of 80+ yards during the year, the Hawks have a couple in them for this game.

Funny that you feel the need to complain about something you admit not reading.... I'm sure you could cobble together some very interesting movie reviews.

Give up the points. I was being conservative.

I really think that the Steelers are going to get rocked in this game. Just the way the team is acting speaks volumes. They continue to shield Rothlisberger, which tells me he is not ready for this game. As I have stated before even though he is a good QB, this will be to much to fast. I am expecting at least 2 turnovers from him, and playing a large role in their loss.Porter is an idiot, and if you have to get jacked up for the Super Bowl that's pretty sad. If I was Stevens I would of talked alot of crap, because I'm going down the dark alley with Walter Jones. Porter is going to get man handled by Jones.I have not seen it talked about but on the ESPN scrolling bar it says Troy Polmalu(sp) injured his ankle in practice yesterday but is probable.Seahawks 33Steelers 24

Have the pictures of Roethlisberger partying this week instead of watching film made this thread yet?  I'll post them if they haven't, but wanted to avoid any honda's.

Whether they win or not, it's pretty obvious that the Steelers have lost their 'edge' for this game...Big Ben partying on what looks like the set of the latest 'girls gone wild' video, Bettis getting the key to the city, every Steeler and their mother being interviewed constantly...I mean really...should I be able to pick Jerome Bettis mother out of a lineup?

I still think they have more talent and should win, but geez it would be nice to see them taking this game seriously.  There was something kind of endearing about their "us vs. the world" attitude...I guess I just miss it, that's all.

What's the ratio of interviews you've seen of Steeler players vs. Seahawks players?  I've seen one, countem ONE Seahawk interview (Hasslebeck) and read one other (the droning of Jeremy Stevens).  Where's Shaun Alexander?  I mean, he's only the NFL MVP!  Good God yall.

Think about it Steeler fans....isn't this starting to remind you of a time when a hardworking little team known as the Patriots let the monolith that was the Rams take all the bows and all the interviews and all the pictures...and the little team that did the work and watched the film and avoided the parties did their talking on the field and ended up winning the game.  Did anyone that didn't pronouce 'car' as 'cah' think the Patriots were a great team before that game?  Weren't the Rams huge favorites?  I dunno...just looks like dejavu all over again.

(disclosure - I have the Steeler ML on the end of two parlays, so I'm looking at this game from a 'ok, how are the Steelers going to blow it' perspective)

Uh, guys, can we at least decide which argument we want to make? Are the Steelers and Ben being too outgoing and doing too many interviews or are the Steelers shielding him too much? Are the Seahawks not getting their share of interviews or are they maybe "shielding" Hasselback and Alexander indicating they're not ready? Maybe we can expect two turnovers from each of them? If you're going to grasp at straws, at least get together and decide which straw you want to grasp, OK?

I think you are really stretching when you are predicting turnovers based on number of interviews given.Believe me, the Steelers are not taking this game lightly. If the Seahwaks win it will be because they outplay the Steelers, not because of who says what before the game.My biggest concern is the Troy Polamalu injury. If he doesn't play or is not close to 100% the Steelers are in trouble. He is like the QB of the Steelers defense.

Here's my analysis.I really think the Seahawks are going to get rocked in this game. Just the way the team is acting speaks volumes.

They continue to let Hasselbeck run around giving interviews to anyone that will listen while the Steelers are keeping Ben focused on the game. While Hasselbeck is a good QB, Ben's one more game of playoff experience is huge and could very well be the difference in this game.

Stevens is an idiot, why would a never was open his mouth trying to disrespect a HOF'er. If I was Porter I would talk a lot of crap because he won't need to take someone down the alley to protect him. The Steelers D will manhandle the Seahawks.

The news out of Pittsburgh is that the Steelers recently purchased a time machine and used it to bring back a super-human android arm from the year 2579. As we speak, doctors are feverishly working to attach it to Ben in time for the game on Sunday. 99 gazillion should be no problem.

My biggest concern is the Troy Polamalu injury. If he doesn't play or is not close to 100% the Steelers are in trouble. He is like the QB of the Steelers defense.
Did I miss somethin here? Troy's injury? Did he have a bad hair day or something?

Polamalu injured his ankle in practice yesterday. It was described as a "tweak" and an MRI showed no damage. He is listed on the injury report as probable.

Thanks, just read where he was seen walking with no limp and everything is fine. The Steelers -4 still look solid.

I agree, that sounds about right.Seattle 42

Pittsburgh -4

I really think that the Steelers are going to get rocked in this game.  Just the way the team is acting speaks volumes.

They continue to shield Rothlisberger, which tells me he is not ready for this game.  As I have stated before even though he is a good QB, this will be to much to fast.  I am expecting at least 2 turnovers from him, and playing a large role in their loss.

Porter is an idiot, and if you have to get jacked up for the Super Bowl that's pretty sad.  If I was Stevens I would of talked alot of crap, because I'm going down the dark alley with Walter Jones.  Porter is going to get man handled by Jones.

I have not seen it talked about but on the ESPN scrolling bar it says Troy Polmalu(sp) injured his ankle in practice yesterday but is probable.

Seahawks 33

Steelers 24

Steelers 99 gazillion

Seahawks 2
Oh, that's what you call it keeping Ben focused...my bad.

From Sports Illustrated.... Life of Reilly Giving Seattle The Needle Rick Reilly 6 February 2006 Okay, Seattle, grab a grande, skinny, no-foam, half-caf Espresso Macchiato and let me explain why the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to grind you up like a Sumatra blend in Super Bowl XL. You suck at sports. You always have. You make nice motherboards, but you're dweebier than Frasier Crane's wine club. You've had the big three pro sports for 30 years now--almost 40 for the NBA--and you have one lousy championship to show for it. Uno. The 1978 Seattle SuperSonics. My God, you people have fewer parades than Venice. What's amazing is, you do college sports even worse. In the 70 years that a mythical national championship has been awarded in college football, the University of Washington has one half of one title: in 1991 (with Miami). Zippo in basketball, baseball, track or field. O.K., the Huskies are good at crew (three women's titles, one men's). Wonderful. Somewhere, three salmon cheer. Your most famous athlete is a horse, Seattle Slew. Your most famous athletic moment was Bo Jackson's turning the Boz's chest into a welcome mat on Monday Night Football. Your greatest contribution to sports was the Wave, the fan-participation stunt that screams to the world, "We have no idea what the score is!" And do you know why you stink, Seattle? Because .. 1. You're too damn nice. Look at your Seahawks. Your MVP halfback, Shaun Alexander, teaches kids chess. Your scariest player is named Pork Chop. My God, last week, you offered valet parking service to reporters at Seahawks headquarters. (Seattle fans: If you see valet parking at Detroit's Ford Field this week, they're trying to steal your car.) Nearly every five-dollar-steak-tough athlete who comes to Seattle leaves--Gary Payton and Randy Johnson for instance. Consider Seattle's two favorite athletes--Steve Largent and Fred Couples. Those guys wouldn't complain if somebody extinguished a Cohiba in their ears. Your sportswriters are more forgiving than Hillary Clinton. If they covered Jeffrey Dahmer, they'd refer to him as "a people person." You Seattle fans don't just accept mediocrity. You crave it. You support your boys come hell or low water. You show up at the rate of three million a year for the Mariners, who never fail to let you down. Even the stadium sounds cuddly: Safeco Field. You pack the house for the underachieving SuperSonics, led by the NBA's nicest loser, Ray Allen. Your Seahawks went 21 years without a playoff win, and the fans didn't so much as clear their throats. Everybody just goes, "Well, that was fun. Let's kayak!" Hey, you can't spell Seattle without settle. The whole town is 100% June Cleaver. I once walked into Nordstrom, the Seattle-based department store, and sheepishly asked if I could bring back a shirt I'd bought a month before in another town. The clerk said, "Sir, this is Nordstrom. You could wear it for 10 years, throw up on it and roll down a mountain in it and we'd take it back." Ask that at Neiman Marcus and they call security. It ain't happening. Walruses don't do triple Salchows, and Seattle teams don't win titles. 2. You're too damn geeky. Your owner, Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen, looks like the kid in high school who always got taped to the goalposts. If Allen wins, will he call all his friends from band camp? Throw his slide rule into the air? Plot his joy on a scatter chart? Look, your average Seahawks fan drives a Prius. Your average Steelers fan drives a Ford Excursion, which has Priuses in its tire treads. Seahawks fans own poodles. Steelers fans eat them. 3. You're too damn wet. Seattle is a great place if you happen to be mold. It just rained 27 straight days and it wasn't even a record. Seattle is basically a lot of guys waiting for a bus with rain starting to seep into their socks. Most kids are seven years old before they realize the umbrella is not an extension of the right arm. No wonder most great athletes leave. Ken Griffey Jr. left, basically saying, "I want my kid to be able to play outside once in a while." In short, you people are too damn peaceful and happy in your Emerald City. You ever know anybody from Pittsburgh? You want this Super Bowl. Pittsburgh needs it. You're going to get smoked like a platter of smelt. (But do you mind if we come live there?) - If you have a comment for Rick Reilly, send it to reilly@siletters.com. Reply With Quote

The Steelers are known for the occasional option pass play. They have Randel-El who can throw it. In Super Bowls, some clubs believe in emptying the playbook (the thinking being "why save it?")Do you think we get a trick play where someone other than Ben throws a pass?

Has anybody mentioned that the Seahawks didn't have a very good SOS this year, and that the Steelers have won 3 road playoff games yet? I heard both of those somewhere, and just didn't want you guys to miss out on the insider info.
DID YOU KNOW THAT JEROME BETTIS IS FROM DETROIT?!? AND THE SUPER BOWL IS IN DETROIT!OMGHI2U2!!!!11111oneoneonelol

Without a doubt. I would be very surprised if there aren't at least 2 or 3. And look for Seattle to maybe break the Walrus mold and pull a trick or two involving Seneca Wallace. Unloading him as a Randel-El type of player as a surprise attack is highly probable too.

As long as they exercise the option of throwing it to Marcus Trufant a few times, that's cool.
I read that one time in college Trufant intercepted a ball with his nose. Last year with the Seahawks he successfully placed THIS bowling ball in his nose for charity.
