TE Dalton Kincaid, BUF (2 Viewers)

No panic here. There is a lot of football to be played.
I admit to feeling somewhat panicky. It’s like he wasn’t at all part of the offensive gameplan.
Shakier only got 3 targets which was really disappointing as well. Caught all 3 and made a great run after catch for a TD. I'm concerned about the amount of passes they threw
Yep. 23 passes to 33 runs bodes ill for all BUF skill players outside of the RB room.

Let’s hope that’s a fluke or it’s gonna be a long season for everyone who invested in Bills.

This.

They've been really run heavy since Brady took over play calling last season. Josh Allen is playing QB like a shoot first PG.

I just checked and Kincaid actually played more snaps then any skill player on offense except Allen of course. He also ran the second most routes, 2 less then Coleman. But they only passed 22 times and that pie got split up by 10 players.

The snap counts and route running participation are better then last year after Brady took over and Knox returned. But I'm not without my concerns.

Offenses tend to be sloppy week 1. Combine that with he probably was the target of the defense going in and I think he will be fine.
He is too talented. Guess we will see.

2 targets. I wanna puke.
I always say that you’ve gotta follow your gut. Puke away brother. Brighter days ahead for Kincaid for sure.

Week one is always funky. Most offenses really haven’t settled in yet - but youve been around long enough to know this.
Brighter objectively, but... this is just a continuation. Brighter yes, but impact guy? I'll say right now no, he will be 4th on this team in targets that needs pass catchers

I watched most of this game. The Cardinals did a really good job controlling the clock the first half of the game with long drives. The 2nd half the Bills were in Josh Allen "HERO BALL" mode. I think better days are ahead for Kincaid

OC Joe Brady says it was clear the Cardinals defense was keying on Dalton Kincaid on Sunday. Kincaid finished the game against Arizona with just one reception for 11 yards: “Would love to get him going a little earlier but it didn’t bother him at all.” #Bills #BillsMafia

Don't want to hit the panic button just yet. Kincaid fell to me in one league late 6th.

However, thinking about going after Parkinson just in case it takes some time for the BUF passing offense to get sorted out.

Found this interesting, especially the bolded where it sounds like McDermott told Brady during the game to start using Kincaid more. I find this positive but still have concerns on Brady, he has seemingly failed to understand what he has in Kincaid since he took over, and frankly has shown a little Arthur Smith traits with his usage/roles.

Don’t worry about Dalton Kincaid’s stat line

It was a forgettable debut for second-year standout tight end Dalton Kincaid, who was held to only one reception and 11 yards on two targets. The stat line could create some anxiety about the role of one of the most talented players on the entire roster. But his overall usage tells a far different story, and if the Bills continue down a similar path moving forward, some huge Kincaid games are coming in future weeks.

There was a natural concern about Kincaid’s role as it pertains to the presence of tight end Dawson Knox, because of how much they scaled back Kincaid’s role in 2023 after Knox had returned from injured reserve. The first two offensive series against the Cardinals did not alleviate those concerns, either. Knox had 11 snaps to Kincaid’s nine, closer to his late-2023 playtime percentages. However, as the offense failed to get going over their first two series, there was a clear shift in Kincaid being on the field. Head coach Sean McDermott alluded after the game to wanting to get Kincaid more involved, and his in-game message sunk in with offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
Kincaid went on to take 46 of the Bills’ final 52 offensive snaps. In the second half alone, Kincaid missed only three of their 41 snaps for a second half snap share of 92.7 percent. In addition to Kincaid’s usage, the proliferation of 12 personnel in the second half also saw a huge bump, with the team using it on 41.5 percent of their 41 offensive snaps. Last year, Brady made that more of a matchup tool than a staple, so it remains to be seen if the 12 personnel percentages will be sticky. But what should hold is Kincaid being out there in a full-time role. He’s a potential difference-maker. More productive days are likely ahead.

I guess this is positive.

Seems like Brady is thick in the head here. Concerned he's another Arthur Smith of poor usage for TEs.

Kincaid was also being triple teamed. Arizona had a plan to take him out of the game ☝️☝️
Seems odd to triple team a second year TE. I guess if you win, it’s worth it.

Wait….they lost though.

Saw that yesterday, actually looked more like they quadriple teamed him.

During the game I checked Twitter to see what was up and a Bills beat writer I follow mentioned he’d been getting a lot of double teams.

If Brady kept using him like he did last year and early in this game I would feel uneasy. But with McDermott apparently intervening and way he was used after the first 2 drives I think it’s all going to work out.

Hopefully just a small hiccup. 23 passing attempts is the big concern. Math isn't good when Allen only throws 23 times
From watching the game, I think the 23 pass attempts had a lot to do with Cardinals dominating time of possession in the first half. Than 2nd half Josh Allen was playing "Hero Ball".

I kept both Kincaid and McBride in a TEP keep-4 league instead of Collins (traded him for a draft pick). :yucky: Fortunately, I had Allen, Saquon, and the Bears D :P.

I'm not panicking yet, and I can flex out one of them if need be. Still, you don't want to be flexing out your keepers...

Kincaid's Week 1 stat line was disappointing, to say the least. He only had a 4.3% target share, 3% air-yard share, and a 6.3% first-read share despite having an 80% route share and running 58% of his routes from the slot. Better days are ahead for Kincaid, though. Playing time was the big worry entering the year with Dawson Knox back in the fold. Knox only had a 43% route share, so Kincaid is the clear starter. Let's remind ourselves of Kincaid's talent before freaking out over a one-game sample. Last year in Weeks 7-18, he ranked seventh in target share (19.0%), ninth in receiving yards per game (50.5) and first-read share (21.0%), and 12th in YPRR (1.85). Fire Kincaid back up this week against a Miami defense that last year allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game, the 11th-most receiving yards, and the sixth-most receiving touchdowns (tied) to tight ends.
Whose starting Kincaid confidently tonight against Miami??

Don't have the stomach for another statline like Sunday, going with Likely. Hope he does much better though, could hardly do much worse

I have the same dilemma
I think he’s going to have a good game tonight.
Yeah feels like they want to get their top target going early and often tonight to keep pace with an explosive offense

For reference in week 18 last year Kincaid went

7 rec 8 tar 84yds against Miami

Allen averaged 34 passing attempts a game last year. Last week he had 23 in a windy game. I have zero concerns about Kincaid. Now. I will say if he drops a 2 catch 17 yard game tonight I definitely have a little concern. Feels like a decent spot for him against Miami. Weather is perfect. Let's roll

Plugging him in for Kelce tonight. Kelce into flex consideration for a 'Q' ravaged wr core.

Not doing it with confidence. Doing it in the George Costanza "do the opposite" theory when he realized that his natural instincts were always wrong. My natural inclination after Sunday was to bench this guy until Allen starts throwing to him.

Also, I'm downright determined for one of my players to actually do something when I'm in position to watch their game.

Better start this week but thought he got hurt on his second catch. Had not played since including being on the sidelines on that 4th and 3 pass to James Cook and the entire next series.

He took a knee to head after that last catch and I was worried he was in the concussion protocol. Now instead I see he's healthy I'm worried that the Bills had him off the field that long. It's like they opened throwing him the ball with intention to purposely get him involved, to appease certain factions, and then Brady went back to making him a part time player. He won't be able to meet his redraft value with this kind of usage, not close.

They might have been evaluating him on that drive he missed. Seems like a more logical explanation than "the OC hates him."

I don't think there are a lot of grand conclusions you can take away from tonight when it comes to Kincaid. James Cook ran wild. Dolphins stunk. Game script. I gotta say, though, in the Bills games that I watch it just doesn't seem like this is where Allen is looking when it's time to make a play downfield. Is he really being constantly double and triple teamed? So frustrating consider his fantasy managers have reaped such minimal fruit to this point to justify that level of attention.

I'm willing to take this away, there was a lot of talk of him as TE1 this season. I think he will be closer to the TE10. Better days, but probably went off as an overpay.

Yeah, hard to argue with that. Personally, I came in hoping for TE4/5 and within the fringe of the TEs that would matter. But TE10 (and not factoring into winning fantasy matches) feels a lot closer to where it's heading.

Slight sigh of relief for me, I missed him in all my drafts so I built my FBG contest team around him. Not feeling good with that at the moment but rooting for the rebound.

Bills just dont look, through a SSS, like they are going to have him as anything close to a priority weapon. And at 2-0, no reason to change, they probably got the stranglehold on the division tonight with the Tua injury.

He looked poised for a big night if the Dolphins had kept it close.

Against better opponents he’s going to eat. I’m not concerned at all.
