TE Jimmy Graham, CHI (3 Viewers)

Tight ends’ production in general is volatile since they see the lightest workload of any skill position, but Graham’s output has been unusually high-variance this year—evidence that he’s indeed battling an injury. When Graham hasn’t scored, he’s been deadly to his fantasy owners’ total output.

Compare Graham to Rob Gronkowski—a tight end with just as much upside (probably more) without nearly as much risk. Gronk has failed to score in just five games this year, but he’s still averaged 7.4 points in standard formats when he doesn’t find the end zone. With Graham unhealthy, Gronkowski is the only true tight end you can trust down the stretch.

Traded Gronk for Graham early in the season. when Gronk still had the parking brake on a bit. :wall:

< 3 points (including a donut) in three of his last four games with the other being 16pts. Going to be very difficult to start or bench him this week :wall:

The MNF game makes it even more difficult, and he may appear on the injury report as questionable (just an hunch)

I was offered Graham for my Gronk earlier this year and was kicking myself for not taking it. Now, not so much.

A few pages back, there was speculation that because JG got paid in the offseason, he might not be as incentivized to go all out and produce.

Some scoffed at it, but it's starting to look more and more possible.
Bull####.

He's playing with a bad shoulder, which is a problem for a receiver, especially a TE.

See Cameron, Jordan.

JG's recent struggles aren't anything that facing the #### Bears D won't fix. If he does anything less than, say, 6/90/1 on MNF, I'll be very surprised. <keeping the faith>

This, The reality is that virtually all JG owners do not have a better option at TE and we'll just have to hope for some magic Monday night. The weather should be fine (forecasted in the low 50s), the Bears OLB are struggling (Briggs is out for the year and Shea McClellan is horrible) and our safeties are no better. I couldn't imagine a better matchup for JG outside of the SuperDome.

Sadly, that's not too far off from what people were saying about the Panthers, and that one was in the Super Dome.. If he ain't healthy, he's not going to produce.

Right now starting with zero confidence and later on expecting the announcement of off season shoulder surgery. I'm thinking that if they were not in the hunt for the division title, he would have already been shelved but they are keeping him out there mainly as a decoy.

but hes due!

Tempted to start Marty B over him... At least I have until Monday night to decide. I'm lucky in that regard. I think it's the best case scenario for any Graham owner outside of having and starting Gronk.

ETA: my hope is that I'll be so far ahead or so far behind that it won't matter. If I need a huge game then obviously I'll go with Graham. But if its close I think I'll roll with Bennett.

Why wouldn't a JG owner just pick up his backup this week knowing how bad the Bears D is vs the TE?

#problemsolved
Far from solved. Who are you picking up? Ben Watson or Josh Hill. 1 TD by Jimmy and you made the wrong move. Owners with Jimmy Graham didn't get this far by benching him now and guessing on a backup.

.....and he is WAY overdue

You start JG but if he's a late scratch, you can start the backup. The Bears vs TE's are THAT bad.

Starting someone way overdue will lose you a game.

Fully expecting Graham to play and therefore he's starting for me. I am adding Watson just in case JG is a late scratch, though. Can't take a bagel in the semis...

He's had to of been hurt to have the lack of touches and production over the last few weeks. I'll likely start him tomorrow but its hard when I have Olsen as a backup and he seems the much safer player as of late...but obviously has no where near the ceiling....

I dont think Graham is giving less effort because he got paid. One game he wasnt targeted, thats on NO not graham. I think he is injured myself.

I've only got an 11-point cushion with PT vs. Graham to go. I hope he has another down week, I know you guys who own him are banking on him getting right tomorrow though.

I'd like to see it drop below freezing and drop snow at twice the rate of the Philly-Detroit game last year.

I pretty much need this so JG doesn't go ballistic on the JV Bears squad against me, but not feeling good about it...Right now 45, rain almost a certainty and 15mph winds are in the forecast. I don't see it stopping the Saints...

I need 113 yards and a Td to pull off an improbable win. Not feeling it at all...
Bet you get it. I would bank on the Saints getting Graham a couple of early catches to get him going and a TD somewhere in the game is all but a certainty. Those Bears defenders don't have a sole who can drop into coverage with him.

Need Graham to go Ham tonight.

Chicago Bears are the second worst defense against the tight end with 775 yards and 11 TDs allowed.

Let's hope that bumps up to 950 yards and 14 TDs allowed.
