Got him as a throw-in for a larger trade a few months ago. Very happy about it. His stats with Jackson last year with Jackson were very nice.

I actually think Jackson remaining an incompetent passer helps Andrews' targets.

He will be forced to target the short/intermediate.

While that makes some sense, if Jackson completely bombs this offense won't be on the field enough for Andrews to be fantasy relevant.

Even if Jackson remains a heavy volume runner, I think Andrews has some sneaky upside as the go to TE receiving option. His best fantasy comp is probably Alge Crumpler during the Vick Atlanta heydays of the early 2000s: While he didn't catch a lot of TDs, Crumpler from 2003-2006 put up the following - 44 for 552, 48 for 774, 65 for 877, and 56 for 780.

I have him in a dynasty and hope for greatness, but I picture around 650-700 yards and about 6 TD’s. I think that Hurst is going to primarily be the blocking TE, but I think that he will be the one that sneaks into the end zone for a handful of TD’s while the defense is keying on Andrews as a decoy. They spent a high pick on Hurst and will try to justify it. This is all my opinion and take it as such.

A lot of running QB's tend to favor throwing to the middle of the field, and TE's have benefited.

Vick/Crumpler, Newton/Olsen, Cunningham/K.Jackson, T.Jackson/Shiancoe, Thigpen/Gonzalez, Mariota/Walker. Its not hard to see Andrews being Jackson's favorite target.

I am pretty bullish on Mark Andrews but there have been a few concerns expressed on Twitter that the Ravens have three capable TE options for passing targets:

Mark Andrews played just 6 of 16 snaps with QB Lamar Jackson in the 1st preseason game.

Andrews wasn't targeted on any of Jackson's 10 passes in the 2nd.

Seems like he's in a 3-way TE committee in a run-heavy offense.

Picked him up as a veteran draft pick in my dynasty draft at 3.4 (12 team).  Felt like solid value given the hype.  Anyone at that point in the draft is a risky pick - this one seemed less risky with a high potential return.

Agreed. I don’t get people trying to extrapolate regular season usage from the first or second preseason games. Have they followed the NFL in August.

Now if Hayden Hurst goes off in the first half of Week 3 PS, that’s legit. But Andrews had a good TC and they’re merely treating him the same way most starting skill position players are in PS.

After the Engram/Henry/Cook tier of TEs, the TE landscape is bleak. Id have no problem rolling him out there as a starting TE for a few weeks and evaluate after that. What are the alternatives? Rudolph? Njoku? Walker? Reed? BLEH

I've got him starting in 2 leagues.  I feel fine about it.  In those leagues, people aggressively went after tight ends before I wanted them and got running backs/receivers that I wasn't expecting. 

I saw a couple late Ravens games where he made big plays.  I see a guy that can bust off the big one coupled with a QB that reminds me of Mike Vick--I expect a lot of tight end production.  He may not be top 5.  But I'll honestly be surprised if he's substantially worse than guys like Cook/McDonald/Hooper/etc

Mark Andrews caught eight passes for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' Week 1 win over Miami.

Andrews carried his strong training camp into Week 1. He did almost all of his damage in the second half, with his touchdown coming from Robert Griffin III. Andrews lost some targets to Hayden Hurst (three catches, 41 yards) but he's the clear No. 1 tight end. The Ravens should look to keep Andrews involved in Week 2 against the Cardinals.

People will rush to nab Boykin or Brown... don't sleep on Lamar Jackson's athletic security blanket target. This guy has the goods to sell and even thought he doesn't start (Hurst the better blocker) Andrews is THE passing TE.

I agree 100%. I think over the course of the year he will provide the most consistency in production and will lead the group in receptions and touchdowns.

The game Vs Miami was... interesting but really hard to draw conclusions from. He was slow to gain steam.... then WOW. And Hock just tore up the Cards. But still, Miami was DOA - plus Hurst and Boyle were in there quite a bit too.

I like Weller also, and I don't think Hurst is much of a threat to Andrews.  He simply isn't as good as Andrews.  I think that is very evident.

Hurst is pretty good too.  He was injured last year, so he is still in learning/recovery.  But when they were drafted, Hurst was considered the better prospect. But the best ability is availability.

IIRC, Hurst outsnapped Andrews.   The latter is more active in the passing game, but that is a weird stat for a fantasy TE...

A couple weeks before the season started I got him in the fourth round of our rookie/FA draft. I was shocked to see him still there.

I'm heavily invested in these Baltimore TEs. Andrews in 3/5 dynasties and 1/1 redraft. Hurst in 4/5 dynasties.

Definitely a lot of value here, but I think the secret is largely out on Andrews. I'm not sure people are jumping to take a 2nd rounder after that week one performance. He had a promising rookie year, and TEs usually don't peak right out of the gate. He has shades of Gronk and Kelce in terms of being a big body middle round pick with deceptive athleticism who has a knack for making big plays even if he's not the most incredible on-paper SPARQ athlete. With the Ravens having an empty WR cupboard outside of Hollywood, I don't see how a steady dose of targets doesn't continue to flow to the TEs.

On that note, I do still like Hurst quite a bit as well. Given the composition of this team's roster (they are very thin at WR), I wouldn't be shocked to see both TEs accrue enough production this year to easily exceed their preseason projections.

The big key for Andrews is he needs to stay above 35% of the snaps since he's the passing TE. In the blowout vs. Miami he had 42%  of the offensive snaps and for him 40% is great.

Was rewatching some of the Ravens Week 1 game and Andrews was Lamar’s prime target on a first half third and goal, would’ve been wide open for a TD so the DB tackled him for a defensive holding call that led to a 1-yard Ingram TD run on the next play

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms Mark Andrews (questionable, foot) is expected to play Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Marquise Brown (questionable, hip) and Mark Ingram (questionable, shoulder) will also be available for Sunday's home opener. Andrews' DNP on Friday registered some concern within the fantasy community, though apparently his foot injury was only a minor inconvenience. Andrews obliterated the Dolphins in Week 1, feasting to the tune of 108 yards on eight catches. Assuming his foot cooperates, Andrews should be in for another monster performance against an Arizona defense that was just shredded by Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson, who went for 131 yards in his NFL debut last week.

If you were going to draft Jackson, pairing him with Andrews was the obvious move IMHO. He always looked for him last year and Baltimore traditionally is a TE passing offense, lots of 2 TE looks.

Andrews has now caught 16-of-17 targets for 220 yards and a pair of scores in two games this season. Lamar Jackson managed to hook up with his trusty TE for a big 28-yard gain down the seam at one point, but Andrews also took matters into his own hands on several receptions with a highlight-worthy hurdle and several additional broken tackles. Andrews is locked in as a TE1 ahead of the Ravens' Week 3 matchup against the Chiefs.

You’re probably right. I likely missed my window during the preseason when the current owner in I were engaged in a four-way trade. I took a long look at Andrews but didn’t ask for him but now it’s going to cost me a lot to pry him away from the current owner. I have an offer in mind but now is not the right time.
