Giants Thursday practice injury update, TE Shockey works

Guard Chris Snee participated in individual drills, but not the team portion of practice and is still listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Tight end Jeremy Shockey, who sat out yesterday, practiced today and remains probable. Linebackers LaVar Arrington and Brandon Short had their customary rest days (to decrease the strain on their knees) and were added to the injury list as probable. For the Eagles, running back Brian Westbrook did not practice today and was added to the team's injury report with a knee.

Sinorice Moss continues to make progress, though Coughlin hasn't committed to suiting him up for the first time in Philadelphia.

"He's worked very well," Coughlin said. "He keeps getting better each day, and we have him involved a little more this week. (It's) not only the physical, but he's been out of the action for a long time. He has to kind of put the X's and O's together as well, but he seems to be a little bit better at it."

Practice squad defensive end Adrian Awasom hyper-extended his knee yesterday.

"He tried to go today, he had a brace on it, but he probably won't be able to go until next week, I'm sure," Coughlin said. "I was pleased to see him right back out there. He wasn't about to miss anything."

I listened to Sid Rosenberg this morning, who was a radio personality on WFAN in NY and now works for 790 The Ticket in Miami.

He is a HUGE Giants fan and said that his agent also represents several NY Giants and he personally knows several Giants as well. He warned that Shockey has a very bad ankle, one that requires 6-9 MONTHS of rest and he plays in agony. He should not be on the field. Obviously he won't take himself out of the lineup, which is a credit to Shockey's pain tolerance and toughness, but be warned.

I believe Shockey had a bad ankle last year, and it looks like he might have reinjured it.

I would watch him very carefully. If this is true, I don't expect him to be making sudden cuts, etc which would limit his effectiveness.

I sooooooo bet he mis-heard somethingShockey hurt his ankle late last year, some think it's lingerring and that was the 6-9 months. I heard an interview on the radio today about this. I'd bet $ Sid heard the same thing and was commenting after that.

Maybe he did Bri. Good call.I do remember Shockey hurting the ankle last season and basically being questionable every week after for awhile, but he played through it. That Sid brought up his agent and the relationship he has with other Giants players made me wonder how healthy Shockey really is.

Shame on him if he that's the case.

Did you hear Sid say "I was listenning to the Fan today" or ESPN or whatever then they have this talk? I like Sid and am not thinking "shame on him". Either he qualified it earlier as something he heard than expounded upon it mentioning the agent stuff OR he just misheard. If he did something "oops" like he'll say so ASAP on the air. He's OK in my book

So has this been cleared up? If this is the case, I'll trade shockey for another high ier TE. If not I like him in the giants O this year. Have you guys resolved what you heard? The curse of sports talk radio.... ;)

no

I emailed the guys at BBI but they have their own website prob tonight so not sure when they'll get back to me

No, Bri. Sid came right out and mentioned Shockey has a terrible ankle injury that no one has let on. He was talking about football in general and aboutt he Giants having a tough schedule, facing Philly this week, right before he made his comment. He never mentioned hearing it on WFAN, only from his agent and other players that he knows on the team.

shockey has played hurt every year except his rookie year. Every week he is questionable, every week he plays.

Get a decent backup for the bye weeks and in case he is officially ruled out, other then that, start Shockey as you always would.

FYI the official injury report distrubted by the league every day said Shockey missed a portion of practice. Obviously it doesnt make a difference here, he's playing.
