TE Zach Ertz, WAS (1 Viewer)

I will be trying to trade for a te this week.  Ertz and someone else to a team with two decent tight ends.

Zach Ertz caught 2-of-5 targets for 38 yards in Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Ertz went without a target in the first half. He managed to make a pair of catches late in the game, but he was outshined by Dallas Goedert (4/69/1) in this one. Ertz will be more of a back-end TE1 for a matchup with Buffalo in Week 8.

Wow. Crickets in here.

Are all Ertz owners just biting their lip and rolling him out there?

Awful matchup. Windy in Buffalo. Although maybe that means Wentz throws to the TEs more. Have J. Smith waiting in the wings but that just reaks of over thinking.

Going with Hunter.

Yup. I put a bid on him without really looking at the numbers, he’s been pretty bad stats wise.
It’s been frustrating as I keep thinking he should turn it around but he just doesn’t get a lot of chances.  I’m rolling him out today only because I don’t have any other options te.

Wow.  Ertz helped me win a championship last year but he is a complete bust this year.  He's going to my bench moving forward.  I only have Ertz and Goedert on my main team and Goedert is a better play moving forward if I can't find a better match up that Goedert.

Zach Ertz caught 2-of-4 targets for 20 yards in the Eagles' Week 8 win over the Bills.

Ertz has zero 100-yard games and just one touchdown on the season. Making matters worse, Dallas Goedert (3-22-1) scored for the second straight week. Ertz has been a major fantasy bust relative to draft position. He gets the Bears at home in Week 9.

Picked up Hunter a few weeks ago and traded away Ertz this week. Tired of the Eagles idea of an offense.
Traded Henry and Watkins/Hardman for Ertz and Thielen in a dynasty league last week.  Thought I was robbing the guy blind, maybe it was the other way around.

So has anyone watched the tape? Is he blocking more? Are defenses taking him away? Someone give me some insight.
I often have no idea what the Eagles are trying to do on offense.  I have a suspicion that Frank Reich was more of the brains behind that great Eagles offense in 2017.

I assume that he is blocking more. The Eagles offensive line is not very good. But I haven’t been able to watch to confirm.

Stats over the last 3 weeks are:  targets/receptions/yards/tds

Ertz 19/8/112/0

Goedart 17/12/139/2
thanks.this is what matter most, not what happened in weeks 1-4 or whatever. this is a trend. Ertz is on the downswing. at least this season.is he hurt? who knows. maybe he's just being blanketed by defenders, allowing Goedart to do his thing.there's not a lot of film to study on Goedart.

PFF ranks the eagles offensive line as the 2nd best through 8 weeks

He's universally ranked inside the top 7 TEs this week. Of course.

Once again grabbed J. Smith but probably wont have the stones to start him.

You're overthinking this. First of all, Ertz is still getting more targets and more snaps. Just because, out of this minuscule sample, he's caught a lower % of targets than normal doesn't mean you should freak out. Second, calling three weeks a trend is pretty silly when even half season splits (8 games) can drastically vary without any significant changes on offense.

Yeah as a Goedert owner I want to believe this is a changing of the guard but we don’t have strong evidence for that right now. Neither guy is getting a significant target share and the passing game isn’t functioning well overall.

Ertz hit on cap jumping from $820k to $6.4 mil In 2020, Goedert under contract for < 1 mil in 2020 and 2021. I wonder if this plays into usage, see what they have with Dallas on expanded role. Both TE could have value with that WR group.

Ertz owners sticking with him this week? Or going with the likes of J. Smith or C. Brate?

Feel like swapping him out is getting cute.

Have a gut feeling that we've hit the valley with him and he's due to start climbing in value. D's have to pay more attention to Geodert. Also, having DJax back could open up the middle. Looking at the CHI D against TEs, they are not shutdown but they're also not a pushover.

Right now, begrudgingly keeping Ertz in there. Hoping this is the week.

Also, having DJax back could open up the middle.
I think this is a huge factor. Without DJax, the Eagles have been unable to stretch the field, clogging things up in the middle, and defenses are often doubling Ertz or putting a shutdown corner on him. An effective DJax makes things more complicated for the defense, which should open up some things for Ertz.

I think Desean loosens up defenses for Ertz, but I dealt him in dynasty today anyways (PPR).

Moved him for ARob, Desean, and Parker if it helps anyone else gauge value. Don't think anyone valued higher was a realistic target.

Zach Ertz hauled in 9-of-11 targets for 103 yards and one score in Philadelphia's Week 9 win over the Bears.

It's the first time Ertz has cleared the 100-yard mark all year. DeSean Jackson (abdomen) only mustered through the team's first drive before exiting, but Ertz still managed to shake off Chicago's best defensive efforts and push a pressing corner out of his grill to run in for a 25-yard touchdown — his first since Week 5 and only the second he's scored all season — from Carson Wentz. Dallas Goedert meanwhile played second fiddle with four catches for 39 yards. Still pacing for 82/937/3.5 receiving, Ertz remains a weekly TE1 despite his frustrating first half. He'll be ranked as such when the Eagles return from their bye against the Patriots in Week 11.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports the Eagles are in extension talks with Zach Ertz.

After rewarding Brandon Brooks with a four-year extension, the Eagles will now turn their attention to locking up Ertz in hopes of striking a long-term deal before the season ends. Malcolm Jenkins and Lane Johnson are also extension candidates, according to La Canfora. Even in a down year—at least by his usual gaudy standards—Ertz still ranks fourth among tight ends in catches (46) and fifth in receiving yards (527), leading the team in both categories.

I'm really concerned about today's matchup with NE.  Ertz is going to be the focal point of the NE defense - they might put Gilmore on him and will almost certainly double team him in the RZ.  I may end up starting Goedart over him.

Firing him up,. I am sure they will be all over him but it will be a good game script and there is literally no other receiving option except out of the backfield.

Might be a mistake but I benched him today for Jared Cook.

I realize he’s their best pass catcher but makes me think Bill will be even more likely to try to shut him down.

idk
