The 1972 Song Draft ... (1 Viewer)

When do we plan on starting?
I don't know. We could start this afternoon or tomorrow. This is a democracy. What do you guys think?
I'd have no problem starting now, although I'm only around until 5:15PM EST.
Let's wait at least until tomorrow morning. We just decided on 1972, I need some time to work up a cheat sheet.
Crap. I didn't see this.
Was he PM'd? Don't need much of a cheatsheet for the first round or 2---he can wing it.

I just sent him a PM. Guys, try to PM the guy following you. It helps a lot.

Should we just pick up from here, enacting the timer and all, tomorrow?
i think if someone is here now, they should go ahead and make their first pick. after that, we start the second round tomorrow. how does that sound?

Does this mean it's finally my turn after being sent to the bottom because 1.09 was too lofty of a pick for Viva to have :hot:

1972 is TOUGH. There are a lot of songs I feel are worthy of a first round pick, but I think I'm going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel in the later rounds.

Elvis Presley - Burning Love

I couldn't live with myself if I let someone else grab the King.

thankyouverymuch

Wow, I just walked in after a 14-hour day. The paint hasn't dried fron the 1982 draft and already I'm in the 1972 draft with the eligible Zepplin songs gone. :hot:

I will be done somewhat early tomorrow, and off Friday. I will PM Simey my songs (if thats OK with Simey).

Have to go vote in the 1982 drafts now.

Well, phroze already picked, so I don't really see it as a problem.  Did someone PM Hov?
 He hasn't even posted in this thread yet.
Hov can be moved back some in the draft.
Good Idea.Sorry, I thought we were starting in the morning... But this works out better being at the turn. Besides I just took a look at some of the songs, and I'm going to suck (even worse than the others) at 1972.

Why didn't we do 1971????

I could go many different directions here, but I'm going this way with it because I think some other stuff has the chance to fall. I give you ...

David Bowie - "Ziggy Stardust"

David Bowie - "Ziggy Stardust"
Nice - that was one of the few I was considering if it slipped.

This year seems pretty loaded to me. Even better than '69, in my opinion. I hadn't looked at anything until a second ago.

Ok, this classic rock lovefest needs a dose of pop.

Looking Glass- Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)
Looking through the 1972 glass, I saw this and immediately thought it had Junior's name written all over it. :)

zamboni

Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin
was this song rereleased and charted higher a second time or something? i know this song came off "Days of Future Passed" in 1967.

Uh... I just copies em. Thought that seemed much older. Live album maybe? I have another song ready to go if necessary.

 Wiki (I know, I know) does have it listed as a "hit" that year.

"Nights in White Satin" is a 1967 song by The Moody Blues, first featured on the album Days of Future Passed. It was not a popular title when first released. This was mainly due to its length, which at seven minutes and thirty-eight seconds was longer than the norm at that time. The song was re-released in 1972 after the success of such longer-running dramatic songs as "Hey Jude" and "Layla", and it charted at #2 in the United States. Its original release in the United Kingdom reached #19. The song was re-released yet again in 1979, selling even more copies.

Commish judgment call, but I would probably let it fly. That may anger some people.
I'm going to let this slide. It charted highest in '72, so it seems pretty fair that it should count.

it says it was rereleased which answers my question. by the way, does DCThunder know we started today? if he doesn't maybe he should be put in the back of the draft now since everybody else remaining knows it has started.

Sorry for the controversy. If it's not cool, I'll add a different one.Seemed like Layla, which it was also re-released in '72.

Has anyone PM'd him?

No, it works. We're going to try to not get bogged down with rules and regulations in this one.

it's fine zam. i was only asking if it was re-released and charted higher or something, because i remember the album coming out in the 60's. it was, and it's fine.

OK - my others will assuredly be less controversial.

I'll PM Viva that he's next. See y'all tomorrow.

EDIT: nevermind, thanks Nige for doing the PM thing.
