The 1977 Song Draft (1 Viewer)

nigel's pick:

Pink Floyd - "Sheep"

my pick to follow
Knew it. Nige probably wouldn't have been able to sleep tonight if he didn't get one of the three main Animals tunes.

2 - Steely Dan - "Deacon Blues"
I've never been a huge SD fan, and didn't own anything by them---then I heard this song on the radio last week for the first time in years, and loved it. Went out and bought the album that day

After seeing the first and part of the second round, I've come to the conclusion that 1977 was not what would be viewed as a good year for music.

:lmao: yeah, if you don't like music.

there's a lot of picks left.

I really like the lyrics in this song, and the groove of the song. Do you like the album?

Anthem anyone?

2.07 Foreplay/Longtime - Boston Boston

I’ve got to keep on chasin’ that dream, though I may never find it

I’m always just behind it.

The album came out in '76, and only one song peaked in '77. This wasn't the song though.

This song was released as a single in either very late 1976 or early 1977. It debuted on Cash Box's Singles Chart on January 22, 1977.It never hit Billboards Pop Singles chart.

Either way is cool by me.

Is anyone going to around for most of the night, and can take a PM? I'm leaving work in a few and not sure how much I'll be online tonight

Long Time/Let me Take you home tonight was released on Epic (EPC 5043) in Jan1977. It peaked at 22 on the Billboard charts

Peace of Mind/Foreplay was released in May1977 on Epic (EPC 5288) and peaked at 38 on the Billboard charts

Hit me. I'll be off and on tonight.

Not even a single according to Allmusic
Slight weakness of allmusic -- if a single doesn't make the top 100 of a given Billboard chart, they won't list it.
True - although Wiki has it as hitting 22 on Billboard :loco: . Must be a Wiki error again?
See my post above
Looks like you can have one or the other, but not the album version containing both . . .
What sites are we considering "gospel" for the purposes of this thread?

I'm gone in the next 10 minutes who can take a PM for my 2nd rounder?

If it gets to my 3rd (and 4th etc), I'll make it in the morning

This must be a case of allmusic missing an entry."Long Time" almost certainly charted on Billboard's Pop Singles chart. It rose to #12 on CashBox's chart. CashBox and Billboard differed some, but not so much that songs were charting high on one, and not at all the other.
