What do you know about Steve Buehler?
I'm assuming you meant David Buehler of the Cowboys. [if you indeed meant Steve, then I know nothing].David Buehler recently said:"It's going good. Chris [boniol] has helped me out a lot. When I came in here I had progressed leaps and bounds from when I started. I'm definitely lucky to have him as a coach; he's gotten me on the right track and I'm confident in my kicking. I've been kicking twice a week and everything's going smooth.... We changed some stuff up fundamentally. Just getting comfortable and not having to think about it, where it was second nature, that was the thing at the beginning. Now I'm used to what he's been teaching me and I've been doing it routinely, it's good."Cowboys' kicking plan B is Connor Hughes, who recently said:"I'm just here to do as well as I can. Obviously, I want to make it. I'm not here to try and out-kick Buehler by any means. He's a special kid. He's a linebacker [type] that kicks the football on kickoffs. I'm just here to make field goals. I want to compete, kick the ball well and make it a real [hard] decision for the coaches.... It's a little strain in my plant leg. But that's pretty much gone. It's just about me getting back out there and getting through the motions and shaking it out a bit."

based on your #3 overall ranking of Rackers in HOU in the PK projections - i'm guessing you feel Brown is gone. admittedly i don't follow the kickers much, and thanks for this thread - lots of great info.

i recently dropped my kicker durning the rookie draft, so i'm looking for a replacement. anyone that should be taking over a nice opportunity (IND, DAL, etc.) that might turn into the next Gost (NE)? any opinions welcome. there are some decent vets available (rackers, tynes, prater, reed, etc.), but i'm open to ideas.

That ranking is based on my estimated fantasy prospects for whomever ends up as the Texans kicker. Initially I'm giving the edge to Rackers, although Brown is certainly still in the running.

Quick advice needed, is there anything I don't know about Jeff Reed? Last year I drafted Garret Hartley based on his ranking here and the NO offense and he was suspended leaving me with no Kicker opening week.

I scanned the tread and did a news search and all I saw was that Reed is hoping to get his contract exptended to a long term deal.

Does everything look free and clear for Reed to play well this year?

No issues that I'm aware of. His prior altercations with the police and with a paper towel dispenser have already been resolved.

Thanks! i have two consecutive picks, and am thinking about taking him. stinks to draft this early, but this is how we do it in this dynasty league. Not to turn this in to a "who shoudl I draft post, but since I have the back to back picks, I am thinking about just taking both Rackers and Kris Brown. I agree with you that the Texan K will be valuable. Just don't want to get stuck without a K opening week again like last year, but I am not convinced it is worth taking both.

The rankings on David Buehler seem all over the place (as high as #4 and as low as #27/#31). Does the Cowboys cutting of Connor Hughes last week clear anything up, or was nobody expecting Hughes to beat out Buehler anyway?

Does the Cowboys cutting of Connor Hughes last week clear anything up
Not really.Buehler was (and still is) competing against himself, not against Hughes. If, between now and the end of August, the Cowboys feel that Buehler has developed into a reliable placekicker, then the job is his. If not, they might roll the dice and let him placekick anyway... they did show a degree of patience with the kicking game last year. Or they could bring in a last minute free agent (such as a Stover or Carney type, or someone that loses a preseason battle with some other team).

Thanks. Since Cowboys kickers seem to produce points, I guess I'll see if can add him cheaply in a dynasty, but will try to avoid one of those legendary kicker bidding wars.
