What if you had your choice between both Buehler and Kaeding?
Good question. The team I'm going up against has Buehler, but Kaeding is still avail on the WW. :blackdot:
this one is easy. Buehler is kicking in the sunny desert. and Kaeding in potentially a snowbowl.
Yeah sure right. Just like Gould last night who lit it up right? Kickers are and will remain for the most part a crapshoot.
I don't believe kickers are a crapshoot. You follow the teams that are hot and getting better. I was going to just go with my regular kicker Vinatieri last week. He did have a decent game (11 points), but at the last minute I switched to Buehler right before kickoff. Buehler got 17 points. He's been the hot kicker lately. You follow the trends and matchups. Indy scores TD's so often, you could end up with 5 points if they win 35-21. Like I said, it was just a hunch, and I was lucky. I ended up winning my league with the highest point total 156-151.5. Just a 4.5 point difference. And Buehler provided 6 extra points. So Buehler was responsible for moving on to the championship. Don't overlook the impact of choosing the right kicker. It's not a crapshoot. If I had thought that, I'd be playing in the toilet bowl.
If you had followed the majority of writers who predicted kickers performance for week 15 you'd had seen 99% of them were not even close to predicting Gould's performance (#1 kicker for week 15) last night.

FWIW, I had a 33 pt lead and watched it almost erode completely thanks to Gould. He almost cost me the championship. It's hard not to like Gould in a game everyone knew the Bears were going to dominate defensively. Those kind of games lead to field position domination and put the FG kicker in the best position. I knew it was going to be cut close.

Obviously choosing the "right" kicker can make a huge impact, no one is arguing that. However, that doesn't mean that it's not a crapshoot- it's still nearly impossible to predict what kickers are going to do any given week, mostly because it's nearly impossible to predict how many FG attempts any team is going to get.

Going with the Buehler pick up.
:goodposting: They've allowed a whopping 48 FG attempts so far this year. That's 3.4 per game. Detroit has allowed the least with 16 attempts as a comparison.-QG
Maybe it's going with the numbers, or going with my gut, but based on the above analysis, I'm feeling pretty good about my championship game after dropping D. Carpenter of MIA (DET) for D. Buehler of DAL (@ ARI). Thanks for the numbers!

Tell me about it. I had a 35 point lead and if I had a lower lead I would have been on panic mode. Thank goodness I went the safe route and didn't even start Peterson that week to lock into any points my other RBs could give me.

Does anyone happen to know if Kaeding is still a decent kicker in the cold/snow? I know Gould looked great Monday and Graham looked good against the Bears in the snow a few weeks ago, but wasn't sure if Kaeding has a good history or not.

I don't know about breaking down Kaeding in snow/elements vs his cushy home in SD, but he has passed Vanderjagt as the #1 all-time accuracy man at PK. You don't earn that distinction by sucking at various points in time because the weather is not as "classy" as it is in San Diego.Additionally, Kaeding kicked at my dear alma mater (Iowa) and while the NCAA season usually spares a PK from nasty elements unlike the NFL, it can still be a little topsy turvey late in the Fall in Iowa City/Midwest in general.I am on the Beuhler train this week as well and I am going to bench Kaeding to do so. That said, if I had Kaeding available to me and not Beuhler, I'd be very happy to use him (I also like Bryant but have no idea why he is on anyone's waiver wire).

:D Thanks for the insight. I have my choice between Kaeding and Beuhler as well...

I prefer Matt Bryant. This one should probably be an ACF posting but whatever, it's Championship Week.

No problem man. I would be fine riding Kaeding this weekend but the facts are the facts, and 48 freaking FG attempts against is an awfully compelling reason to start an already hot David Beuhler.

No love for Shaun Suisham?
Completely disregarded him until my opponent picked him up and is starting him against me. He's been money using the waiver wire to get gems this year, so I am concerned.
Yeah, he's totally flew under my radar. He's 10 for 10 in field goals in 5 games and has been average over 8 points a game. I just snagged him for tonites game. I can't imagine he doesn't get at least 2 more field goals against the panthers.

I used him last week & got 6 points. Dropped him to use Buehler this week.

Bryant in the dome. That's a lock. :IBTL:
Agree with this, Bryant is the sleeper in the group who could be huuuge. I would not touch Folk or Brown for this week. Feeling great about my Buehler pick after reading this thread. :lmao: Either that or I'll c u all Saturday night in the Buehler Couldn't Kick A Field Goal Through The Great Wall Of China And I Hate Him thread.

It'd be kinda impressive if he could...-QG

I don't know how you can call Bryant a sleeper when he is a top 3 kicker this year.

I am pretty sure Im rolling w/ Suisham. Only concern is how poor Pitt's field is this time of year.

He did miss a 41 yarder as well...so not terrible overall but, could have been better.

We'll see what Buehler has tomorrow.

Looks like the bad weather might actually be coming to Philly, so off to a late start finding an Akers replacement. Buehler was gone weeks ago.

I'm going with J. Brown in the dome vs. San Fran. The 49ers are top-10 in FG attempts allowed, and I can see the Rams moving the ball but not necessarily getting into the endzone. Here's hoping so, anyway. Good luck, all.

you are WAY too late to be looking into wk 16 kickers. any real hawk picked up buehler weeks ago.
Not too late in my legue.I have Kaeding but am considering picking up either Scobee or Janikowski for better weather. If MJD is out then Scobee might be the better play.

can't help thinking the SF-STL game has the hidden 3-4 FG gem that i could use. just can't figure out if it's brown or reed.

If that miss costs me a Championship I and the rest of us will go to his house with pickaxels and baseball bats and yell at him real good

People who made it all the way to week 16 in their suicide pools and lost because of a missed extra point have to be..... suicidal. :sadbanana:

It was a bad miss but he did hit a 53 yard field goal, a 42 yarder and a couple other extra points. He scored 11 points in my fantasy league and 10 in another. Anytime you get double digits you're ahead of the curve.

I blame the Dallas D. You got less than 2 minutes, J. Skelton as QB with no timeouts and you can't stop him? You deserve to lose.

The extra point would have meant overtime and with the momentum Arizona had there at the end more than likely they would have won anyway, pathetic defense in a crunch situation.

And don't forget J. Kitna threw 2 INT's for Td's. Whether you blame Kitna or the Wr's on those, they were 2 td's. Ya it sucks that Buehler missed the kick but I don't blame the loss on him.
