A league I'm in closes all transactions tomorrow till the season is over . Unlike the rest of the season, I like to carry 2 kickers during this time cause if an injury happens to your #1 you have to have someone else.

Pickins are slim in this 16 team league. Suisham is out there and on a pretty good team. Is he the kicker for the rest of the season?

I'll hang up and listen.

As a Steelers fan, I expect he'd have to be apocalypticly bad for them to cut him for yet another street free agent, but even with that he's got two pretty major negatives going against him:1. Has one of the toughest homefield's to kick in, and the weather's about to start getting ugly.2. On top of that, he pretty much sucks out loud. Bad combination. If you would have been comfortable having Jeff Reed as your #2 guy for the rest of the year with the way he was playing, then go for it. They're the same guy at this point, but Suisham doesn't have the added panache of being a fringe lunatic/complainer: As likely to miss anything over 42 yards as he is to make it. Won't surprise me if he has a couple misses from ridiculously close before the year is out too, a la Reed. He'll probably get opportunities. So there's that. He just might not do as much with them as you'd hope.

Typically, any kicker off of a winning team can pay dividends.

Pretty sure the top 16 (half of the league) kickers in my leagues are on teams that are 4-6 and better. 13 of top 14 are on .500 or better teams.

Reed + Shuisham would be right about 17th. But Reed missed 7 FGs in 9 games. If he made 'em all that would be the #3 kicker. If he made 4 of those 7 he missed that would put it around #10.

Seems very useable in a 16 team league (*I play almost exclusively in 16 and 14 tem leagues).

Yeah I was reading somewhere that Phil Dawson had the most kicker friendly schdule the next 5 games ( 12-16) playing against teams that give up the most field goals. Im debating dropping Niel rackers for him.

 I'm debating whether or not to cut Folk and pick up a new kicker. It sounds like he's still the only kicker for the Jets, but if I'm going to pick up a new one I have to do it before the game tonight...

there's 3 games where snow is possible/expected.

Saints @ Bengals 12/05/2010 01:00 PM 26/39f Chance Snow49ers @ Packers 12/05/2010 01:00 PM 22/27f Snow LikelyJets @ Patriots 12/06/2010 08:30 PM 27/40f Slight Chance Snow Showers
is it best to find another kicker if you own one of those top kickers?

Would only worry about heavy snow, torrential rain or wind.

Latest weather.com data shows a 0% chance of snow in GB, but some wind.

EDIT: NE says 10% chance of precip, at 40 degrees. 30% chance of snow in Cinci.

None of those would concern me at the moment.

Agree, pretty much only worry about wind 25mph or greater...snow and rain doesn't seem to hamper production too much

I always pick a kicker that is kicking in a dome this time of year. Or if I have to, a kicker playing somewhere where it will be decently warm. Josh Brown of STL has been getting it done lately for me.

I've been playing WW kicker all year in one league but with waivers shutting down for the postseason, I'm rolling with the Josh Brown/Billy Cundiff combo for the playoffs. Good combo schedule and all dome games:

Week 13: Brown @ ARI

Week 14: Cundiff @ HOU (Brown is at NO this week as well - another dome game)

Week 15: Brown vs KC

Week 16: Brown vs SF

I know most folks don't care too much about their kickers but sometimes those couple of points can put you over the top. What are some k's that may be on waivers that you feel can put up nice games in the playoffs? Typically I drop a bench guy to pick up an extra Kicker in case of injury.

I'm looking at going Prater vs AZ, Then Rackers vs Ten then either one against each other in DEN

Any other ideas?

If he's available, and he might be, Shane Graham for the Pats vs Buffalo in Week 16 might have some good points potential.

I have Kaeding and FG has had him as the no. 2 kicker the rest of the way but it's been feast or famine so far. After the Jets the Pats have a couple good potential matchups for Graham.

I laugh when people talk about great matchups for kickers. Kicking is so damn situational that is impossible to predict. For instance, if Kaeding hits the 50 yarder today he puts up a 12 which is very respectable performance. The same thing happened in week 11 when he also missed a 52 yarder. The only kicker that has been truly a lock for 10+ pts each week is Akers.

Norris B May I ask why you feel this should be in the assistant coach forum? I'm not a big poster, so I may not know the "rules." I'm not asking anyone to run my team, not asking for a player X over player Y, just throwing out my thoughts and trying to get some feedback as to what others are thinking. To me this post http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...=572874&hl= seems very similar. Throwing out your thoughts and getting feedback. Please enlighten me as to the difference....

Thanks saints Graham is an interesting choice down the stretch. Anyone factor potential weather conditions when looking at players late in the year? EX Graham against the bills sounds tasty but would you rather have a kicker in a dome?

Yes, I realize that. It seems futile. However, I also realize I lost one game because I should have kept Cundiff in for a sure blowout vs Carolina. It cost me about 12 points. By having Kaeding in last week it probably netted me 15 points. If you're telling me I shouldn't even try when others are measuring one WR3 vs another because each may gain them the same margin well I have a pretty hard time figuring out why.Edit: sorry, din't mean to be sarcastic. It is pretty difficult, but I have a bye and am looking at basically a 2 week season now. If I can even get lucky in this regard I will take it.

Josh Brown. Will kick indoors the next three weeks, and Bradford is good enough to get the Rams in the red zone, but because he's a rookie the coaches won't let him try anything too risky once they get there.

Look, nothing is a "sure" thing. Go with your gut if your going to play with kickers. A guy like Kaeding is solid because of his team and his situation. Rivers will move the ball down field and they have had redzone trouble recently. The Carolina theory doesn't always work. Olindo Mare today got the same 7 that Kaeding got. Fantasy is always going to be a game of second guessing yourself.

I stream kickers this year and so far I think my high for the year is 7 points, so if you dudes come up with a good kicker for me I'll kiss your ###.

Here's another for those searching to improve every roster spot:

Buehler is on a roll as is the Dallas DST.

Make this is a discussion about playoff kickers in general - not who should I start or drop and this is an excellent Shark Pool thread.

:fishing: As it gets colder I look for dome kickers with big legs. Hartley has a few dome games on the way too.

I like Shayne Graham.

Gotskowski was considered the guy to own among kickers before getting injured, and Graham is in the same exact situation as him yet seems to considered a big step down.

If Graham is available, I would just ride with him for the remainder of the season...if not Graham, Suisham is a solid backup plan among likely FA kickers.

The two I'm looking at are:

Josh Brown, STL - he's the 7th best fantasy kicker so far this year, still on lots of waiver wires, and he plays weeks 15 and 16 at home (in a dome).

Jeff Reed, SFO - before he was let go by Pittsburgh, he was #2 in fantasy. No doubt he was dropped by lots of owners before the 49ers picked him up this week. He gets games in San Fran and San Diego for the playoffs.

Anyone else we should consider?
