Based on the reasons cited for the Patriots signing Graham (which sound way to well thought out to be hot air) - is Graham seen as the kicker for the rest of the season, or just to kick in the Pittsburgh game?

I think we can safely assume Graham will be the kicker for the remainder of the year. Working the weekly waiver wire is viable in fantasy, but not so much in reality.

It's official, Mike Nugent is done for the year with a knee injury.
 He got off to a really good start this year. they shoulda put that ball in the endzone so his on-side kick effort wasn't wasted :(Any word on who the Bengals are looking at? Shayne Graham is safely missing extra points for another team and Dave Rayner is otherwise occupied.-QG

Kickers are dropping like flies, and they are not involved in hand to hand combat.

Gostkowsky, Hanson, Hartley, Kaeding, Nugent, etc. all seem to have suffered a hangnail or worse. Surprised they aren't claiming concussion.

Hartley wasn't injured, he was benched for two games due to ineffectiveness. That said, it has been a strange year as far as kicker injuries goes.

I think the new onside kick rules have impacted the K position.... I believe that's how Nugent got hurt, and have maybe dinged up the other kickers that may have gotten injured elsewhere......

Mike, is there any reason the kicker rankings haven't been updated in two months? I ask because there have been a number of injuries causing changes in circumstances this year.

Also, here's a hot PK tip which I found when researching FA replacements for Gostkowski in my league. Check out Succop's remaining schedule. He's facing the following teams which have the Points Against by PK's rankings for weeks 6-10 (the last five weeks) in parenthesis next to them:

11 vs Cardinals (1)

12 at Seahawks (11)

13 vs Broncos (19)

14 at Chargers (5)

15 at Rams (6)

16 vs Titans (4)

17 vs Raiders (29)

I'm guessing from your rankings question that you are looking at the pre-season rankings page. For regular season rankings for the remainder of the year thru week 16, see the weekly "Custom Top 250+ Forward" feature for Dodds' rankings or the weekly "Kickermania" article for my rankings.I agree with you on Succop. I haven't done this week's updates yet, but last week I had him ranked 6th for the remainder of the year.

Steelers cut Jeff Reed, sign Shaun Suisham

By Scott Brown

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Last updated: 12:02 pm

The Steelers have cut kicker Jeff Reed and signed Shaun Suisham.

Suisham, who has played for the Cowboys and Redskins and has made just over 79 percent of his career field goals, worked out for the Steelers today at Heinz Field.

Reed had been the Steelers kicker since 2002 and is the franchise's second all-time leading scorer.

He entered the season as the most accurate kicker in team history but made just 15 of 22 field goal attempts this season.

After missing a 26-yarder in last Sunday night's 39-26 loss to the Patriots, Reed sounded off about the field conditions as well as the fan and media criticism he has endured this season.

Paper towel dispensers in Western PA breathe a collective sigh of relief!

Has any team ever cut their franchise player midseason before?

Rotoworld says Bengals might scoop Reed to replace Nugent. Considering how many field goals they've kicked might be a nice upgrade for him.

49ers

With veteran kicker Joe Nedney hobbled with an injury to his right knee (plant leg), the 49ers are looking at three young players as possible kickoff specialists: Shane Andrus, Swayze Waters and Garrett Lindholm.

The link to the Bengals article is dead.Any info on this kid they signed? Does he really look like he'll play this week or is he more of a placeholder?

Thanks for the great info as always :moneybag:

bump for any info this week...
whoops..thought this was a thread for Kaeding, did a search for his name..sorry I wasn't more specific. Would you feel comfortable rolling with him the rest of the way? Hamstring injury with a kicker makes me a little nervous.

Here's the write-up I did on Pettrey prior to the draft: LINKJeff Reed's agent claims the Bengals contacted him, but that he and Reed declined so that Reed could regroup this week rather than jumping right back into kicking.

I'd be comfortable with Kaeding. I can understand being wary of a hamstring injury on a gut level, however I can't think of any instances of a kicker hamstring relapse in recent years. Plus they seem to impact kickoffs more so than placekicking.

http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Ohio...30-95427461578eIf you watched the Buckeyes at all the past 3 years or so, you would know that Pettrey had an Amazing leg, and fairly decent accuracy. He made some big kicks for us.

Any idea how long Nedney is out? That they ruled him out so early this week makes me wonder if this is a multi-week injury.

The following article suggests that Nedney is only expected to miss one or two games. LINK

Any news on Keading ? Is he 100% a go for this weekend ? Managed to snag him in both my money leagues, the Chargers good offense makes him a nice play for the playoff run. However one of my leagues has a free agent deadline of the start of tonights game, trying to decide if I want to cut someone and roster and 2nd kicker just in case reports come in tomorrow he pulls something in practice.

This probably doesn't qualify as 100%, but it certainly sounds promising...
Kicker Nate Kaeding said it looks good that he'll be able to return after missing three games with a groin injury.
