The Birther Conspiracy Thread (3 Viewers)

Obama has spent over a million dollars keeping this conspiracy alive by refusing to release a long form birth certificate and then allowing that soldier to skip his tour of duty.If he released the long form certificate, most of the birthers would go away. That said, if we are serious about the "natural born" clause, a process needs to be put in place to verify eligibility.
I have decided to post several of the more interesting comments made in this thread, lest we forget them. I'll start with this one.
so?I still think we need a real process. We get the candidates to release their taxes, so a birth certification is really no big deal
care to back up that million dollar figure?
I agree that based on recent information, that thise numbers were inflated. As of the date of that posting, those were the only numbers available, and nobody had contested that number.

Tim, I have no issues with some or most Republicans who question where Obama was born. It is Obama's obligation to prove it to the American people. He claims he was born in a hospital and a birth certificate exists. I say he is a liar. There was no Hospital in Hawaii and there is no birth certificate. I don't know the circumstances around his birth, but the story being told is a lie. Most likely it is as simple as he was born at home and he thinks revealing that would raise more questions as it contradicts his statements and his biography. But everything points to there being no birth certificate.
Dude, I already bumped that one.
Yeah but you left off the last 2 sentences, and the last one is a doozy.I just hope jonnay doesn't hurt himself backtracking and deflecting as much as he is (and will continue to do).

I'll do some more later. There's just far too many. Have to make sure I get some of Jon and Bronco Billy's more silly comments.
I agree with you Timmy, but let's be honest. You're the last person here who should be hunting post histories hoping to find stupid comments.

Jon receiving a standing 8 count.
Nothing I said was that outlandish. I had already eliminated the possibility of a Kenyan birth. I just thought he had to be hiding something since he would not release it. Sorry, I was curious what it was.
:bs:
Mad, I am not sure why you are chiming in. When I am proven wrong beyond a reasonable doubt, I admit it. You still hang on to many fantasies despite being conclusively proven otherwise.
For one because of the sheer hilarity and obtuseness of the things you are completely positive of and for another I admitted, before definitive proof of being wrong surfaces nationally, that I am at a loss to prove it. I also didn't go into a bunch of detail about my horse#### fantasies, elaborating and defending a steaming pile of poo that defied all logic and appearance. You haven't conclusively proven me wrong about much of anything and I've admitted being wrong before. The one (singular) fantasy you're speaking of is a previously admitted unprovable position.

However, I wouldn't expect you to be right about your accusations against me either! :lmao:

eta: if being wrong about things keeps someone from posting about other topics then we'd never, ever hear from you again! :lmao:
Besides stated government policies which prohibit what your little fantasy and absolutely no support for it happening and absolutely no way to enforce such secret government background check even if one was done. You your little fantasy never made any logical sense, but you still cling to it. This is not the first time you have done such non-sense. You are probably a worse idealogue than I am, just on the opposite side of the coin.

When I make assertions that turn out to be wrong, I always admit it immediately. I've never made assertions as silly as these.

You're right jon, giving the keys to nuclear armageddon to someone whose identity isn't vetted is obviously far, far more logical than the idea that someone might check his ID before they do so. You sure showed me, I definitely don't have logic on my side :lmao: . You are really, really reaching in your desperate attempt to try and retrieve the minute amount of dignity you think you have here. And no, I'm not worse than you and one way to tell is how many people make fun of you vs how many make fun of me. Keep on backpedalling and deflecting jonnay, I think it's working!!!

Tim, you make all sorts of silly assertions. For instance, you thought Palin would forever be tied to the Giffords shooting, but yet that association was proven inaccurate and nobody associates Palin with that anymore.

That was a prediction, not an assertion of fact. What I said was that it would marginalize her further. I think it has, though unfortunately not to the extent I predicted. If she was actually running for President I think it would matter more.

Has anyone explained why a state needs to issue a birth certificate and a certificate of live birth? Seems like unnecessary duplication to me/
The COLB that Obama released two years ago is the standard thing you get when you request your birth certificate. The COLB released today is a copy of the original document on file that belongs to the State of Hawaii. The state can't exactly give away the original record.
When I need a copy of my birth certificate from the state of Connecticut, they send me a copy of my birth certificate. Why does any state need two documents? Even Mexico knows how to issue certified copies. Why doesn't Hawaii?
Hawaii doesn't have two documents. It has one: the one Obama released a few years ago.The document he released today is not for copying or releasing. It's the original that is kept in a bound volume at the Department of Health. The Department of Health generally does not send out copies of that document. (It used to; but its policy changed at some point.) But that's what the birthers kept clamoring for, so an exception was made for Obama, seeing as he's the President and all.
So there is an original document that Hawaii doesn't normally release and the one Obama released a few years ago. Have I forgotten how to count or is that two documents?

You are playing a game of semantics. An assertion is a confident and forceful statement of fact or belief. It has absolutely not come true, and also you are not doing a very good job at immediately admitting when you were wrong.

Andy Card was just on with Anderson Cooper trotting out what I think is the backpedal du jour of this issue. His stance was basically "why didn't he release the long form three years ago?" He further insinuated that Obama was to blame for taking the focus off the economy by allowing this issue to fester for so long.

Of course neither Paul Begala nor Anderson could really articulate their best retorts on the spot, but at least Begala was able to summon up "why are you blaming the victim here?" which is basically what's going on.

I have to wonder: at what point do you take the nuts seriously? If someone attacks you from a ridiculous position absent logic or facts, what should the response be? Card essentially put the onus on Obama to quell the voices inside the birthers' heads, but I can't imagine this view is shared by anyone that has a reasonable perspective on this or any other issue.

Obama provided the document that Hawaii issues as proof of birth in their state. What's more to discuss? Apparently to Card, because some fringe element is making a big deal about the lack of their seeing the original long form, it's on Obama to make sure this isn't an issue anymore. Okay, great.. so where does that end? How outlandish of a claim must Obama tamp down to satisfy his critics? What's amazing about this is that you have a former Transportation Secretary and Chief of Staff asserting things like this. I expect this kind of drivel from hacks who make money from stirring things up (put Trump in that camp), but a guy like Card should be well beyond this juvenile exercise. You want to laugh if it didn't scare the hell out of you how stupid people are acting on this issue.

I'm pretty sure we're doomed as a nation.

Of course they could not articulate their position. They are in on the forgery.

and why did he spend $287 million dollars to hide this secret all these years? This is far from over.

Rep. Leo Berman (R-TX) remains skeptical of the long form birth certificate.

Birther Legislator in Texas Not Convinced by Long-Form Certificate

Posted Wednesday, April 27, 2011 12:43 PM | By David Weigel

Texas state legislator Leo Berman, a Republican, has introduced a bill that would require proof of citizenship from presidential candidates. It's one of many such bills in the states. And according to Sharon Guthrie, Berman's legislative director, the legislation is still needed and the long-form birth certificate released by the White House today does not satisfy its requirements.

"What I've seen online, what they produced today, still says certificate of live birth across the top," she told me. And she's right.

But why isn't that just a nomenclature issue? Why does it matter?

"We want to see a 'birth certificate,'" Guthrie explained. "The one that we have that says 'birth certificate' is from Mombassa, Kenya, with his footprint on it. He has still not produced an American birth certificate."

Guthrie is referring to an internet rumor that Lucas Smith, an Iowa activist, found a birth certificate from Kenya that contains all the information skeptics want to see from Obama. It was introduced as evidence in one of Orly Taitz's filings. The problem: That certificate is forged. But it's one of several online rumors that convinces Obama birth skeptics that a real birth document is out there.

"I'm a Republican precinct chairman in Texas, in Smith County," said Guthrie. "We have to show an official birth certificate. Why shouldn't a presidential candidate or president show his or hers? I'm at the bottom of the ticket. He's at the top."
"It's not old.. at all."

"Why isn't there a plaque on the hospital, for example, to show that the President of the United States was born in this hospital?"

Is it fair to say that Rep. Berman is a secret Democrat who is perpetuating this issue for maximum damage to the Republican Party? There's probably no other reasonable conclusion.

It was nice of Obama to finally splurge for the $10 and produce the thing. Was it really that hard? So in the end it was just a political tool to try to trap his opponents. Whatever, it should have been done three years ago instead of playing this mascaraed. Now we have a definitive answer on the hospital, the family whose father delivered the baby has a source of great pride, and there is no more trying to read the tea leafs wondering if Obama is hiding something. I still have no idea why some insist on injecting race into this issue.
Or do we?Sorry if this is honda....

I'm clueless on editing something like this. Chime in if this can be done..

I would like a prediction from people.

A week ago, a national poll found that some 40% of Republicans believed that Obama was born outside of the United States, while another 20% was unsure. I am assuming there will be another poll in a few days or week from now, once today's news has had time to sink in.

Please predict how Republicans will react to this news. Will the numbers change significantly?

The polls were just kidding. Republicans always believed that Obama was born in Hawaii. It was the Democrats who were driving this issue the whole time, not the Republicans.

7% decline in the % of Republicans who think he was born outside of the US.

Wow. This is what you are going with?
Was there any doubt?
I accepted the evidence. What more do you want? You are the one who suggested it would not be enough. It is. I thought there had to be something he was hiding, instead he was just playing politics. I was wrong.
:lmao: Yeah, it was HIM doing all this by not playing nicely with or not even acknowledging the whackos?

I'll do some more later. There's just far too many. Have to make sure I get some of Jon and Bronco Billy's more silly comments.
So how does this affect my position. I've stated several times that I thought he was born in Hawaii.I still don't understand how a guy who pledged to run the most transparent administration in this country's history has to take 3 years to do something as simple as present his birth certificate. If he was waiting for some kind of politically advatageous time to do it, why does he gets flushed from cover by a politically irrelevant guy like Trump? He feels the need to get Trump off his back so he trots it out, but he couldn't step up & produce it when Dr. Lakin requested it and instead let the 18 year vet go to Leavenworth for 6 months and then take a dishonorable discharge instead? That pretty sums up what this guy is all about.

kinda like those that hang on that .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that Obama was hiding something on his BC yet they were certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was?

Ok...so I asked this question a while ago but it got lost in the crazy. I keep hearing (not just here) that Obama spent XXX amount of money in legal fees to keep this quiet. What exactly did that money go to? What did he have to actively pay for to keep this quiet? Because if he really did spend all that money, he's really no better than the whacko birthers.

Uh oh  :banned:

What's been thrown against the wall so far:

If he had it all along, why wait so long to show it?

The left is obsessed with this issue, not the right

The document is a fake!

Obama showed weakness in the face of pressure from Trump

Missing anything?

This question has been answered repeatedly. A right-wing nut news site took the figure that the Obama spent on legal fees for the campaign and made the ridiculous, obviously incorrect assumption that all of that money went to the birther fight. After this stupidity made the rounds enough to get noticed, more responsible journalists and commentators pointed out the obvious error, and supplemented this by pointing out that the McCain campaign had spent a similar amount in legal fees.

The actual number is unknownwe can compare the campiagns' post-election legal spending and see that McCain spent 1.3 million and Obama over 2 million. We also know that at least 18 suits were filed.I'd WAG a couple hundred K

So much for that "....growth topic."

It makes for an interesting bit of banter in a slow off-season, though.

Yeah, but there was so much evidence that Sarah Palin had nothing to do with the Giffords shootings that only true wingnuts like Paul Krugman grasp at some connection. Let's face it -- a good portion of Birthers likely are racists and Trump is associated with that movement. Then Trump went on to suggest that Obama didn't have the grades to get into Ivy League schools which hints at a affirmative action. Now, most recently, Trump said Obama needs to spend less time on the basketball court. None of the positions themselves are necessarily racist, but when you put them all together that's the picture many get and that's what The Donald has now been labelled with. I don't think that's going away anytime soon because people are more emotional about that issue, and it's more difficult to refute than the allegations against Palin. It might not be true, but Trump will be wearing that racist label in a lot of people's eyes for sometime to come.

:lmao:My god we really are through the looking glass.

Sorry...I missed it after I asked and I certainly wasn't going back to wade through the crazy to find where someone else asked and it got answered....thanks for saving me from that. I just wanted to understand where they were getting the accusation.

The actual number is unknownwe can compare the campiagns' post-election legal spending and see that McCain spent 1.3 million and Obama over 2 million. We also know that at least 18 suits were filed.I'd WAG a couple hundred K
The Obama campaign was also larger than the McCain one in scope (meaning more offices with more leases and more bills, more venues used, etc). Plus any money he spent fighting birthers wouldn't necessarily have been avoided by releasing the document he released yesterday earlier. As we're seeing now, many of the lunatics who initially bought into this are crazy enough to keep fighting the fight no matter what. They could have been in the delivery room staring right up his mother's hoo-ha with a magnifying glass, and they still could bring a lawsuit that would necessitate a reply if they wanted to.
