Also, I'll let you know here but getting close to sending an email to all the people on the waitlist so they can pick their draft day/times.

Thank you for doing this. Seems like a lot of extra work for not much more revenue.

I haven't subscribed in a few years because I do my own analysis/projections as a hobby, but this and the other contest got me to start signing up again.

You're welcome. And thanks for signing up! You're right, this isn't a positive return on investment for just this. It's a long term thing. This is more like a skateboard company building a skate park. It helps the overall ecosystem thing and encourages community and interaction. In a day where more and more content sites are heading to AI or impersonal stuff, we want to lean into the things like this.

In.

Weekend time slots are my jam for the weekend in question. See you weekend warriors in the draft lobby

ummm ok I was going to say hey thanks for doing this and I am all in and excited etc and then upon looking at the emojis available I went a little off the rails and decided to tell the picture story above. it's a good one (ha). something like Armageddon meets Castaway and then the remotely win a fantasy championship. IDK but I have to say the emojis available here are quite good.

Love the selections for time slot and inclusion of weekday times. I was worried I would be stuck with one when one of my live drafts takes place.

Thanks. It seemed like that was the most fair way to do it and allow for the most people to find a time that worked.

Thanks. That helps offset the emails I'm getting like this:

Hey Joe,

Why are there only 2 times of day available? It's 7am PT or 5PM PT and that's it. I have to either not walk my dog (and she HAS to be walked, lol), or draft through dinner. I'm retired and can pretty much make any time of day work except before 8am and 5-7pm, which are literally the only options provided. It is a real drag that there aren't more options. East coast bias strikes again. I guess I am out.

Oh well.

I was expecting to hear reasonable excuses like having to go to work.

Then they said they were retired and the draft interfered with dog walking and eating. Wow.

:lmao:

I debated taking off work on Monday Aug 26th so I could add 10am as a potential option to make it easier on the staff putting this together. My daughter has a hockey tournament in CT on the weekend, and I felt guilty only being able to select two options (Monday and Tuesday night).

Thanks to you and your staff, Joe. I can't imagine this will be easy to organize. I really look forward to finishing in 10th place in whatever league I am in!

I'm glad I'm not a business owner, because I wouldn't be able to bite my tongue reading an e-mail like that. Who gives a crap about your dog, or when you eat dinner? Hey wait... didn't I send you that e-mail?

I'm a dummy and only picked one time (didnt even realize pick multiple was the goal even though it clearly says you can...this is what happens to your brain with a 5-month old). So I resubmitted with all the ones that I can make work. Hopefully thats more helpful than annoying.

I think it’s time to pin this thread. I expect a lot of fun smack talk and ribbing (and crying in our beers) to be happening in this thread :)

I resemble that guy, but I am not that guy. I am retired, I love to eat and I have a dog she actually had back surgery several weeks back and needs regular exercise that does not include jumping.

But happily, I can work around all those and purposely chose the weekday morning slots to help out all you working stiffs.

Happy drafting all!

I'd guess you'll definitely get a lot of the older sharks who stopped subscribing to re-sub for this. as far as new money, what is the marketing reach right now if any? X posts and how you position your (free) social media marketing will be key. keeping the "fun" factor as the main goal, every good story need formiddable villains, so come beat the best/loudest/(annoyingest?) here at FBG! will be really fun for the board regulars, like the Anarchy leagues, but bigger.

also, so many of the posters here are commissioners for long running leagues, maybe recruit a few to help manage leagues and give them a free entry or sub for the year? i mean, i assume the staff makes a gazillion dollars so the sharks might be a cheaper option.

I do wonder how many people it might pull in.

The good news is the work is all at one time. So it would be a ton of work to organize and sort all the teams into leagues. But once done, then it pretty much runs itself.

But for sure, the fun factor will be the key.
What's your projection in terms of total teams?

That's the huge question.

I think we could easily have 800 leagues or almost 10,000 teams. But that's an insane amount of work for our team sorting, organizing and creating leagues.

We might start super small in year 1 with more like a few hundred teams.

But to be clear, this is all just me talking at this point. Nothing promised or certain for sure.
all sounds great. would be fun for sure

It's life. I get a ton of email like that and part of what I've signed up for.

The next wave will be the Live Draft Sync feature we are hoping to roll out will only be for Sleeper leagues. That will be ugly. But it's life. And business.

Not complaining at all, just curious why the decision to include a DT but not K?

Not including kickers is a trending thing. Kickers are basically not much more than a roll of the dice each week. I don't disagree with their exclusion. Takes a little bit of luck out of the equation.

At least I assume that's why.

Seems like people include DT in that same discussion/complaint, so I usually assume it's both or neither.

@Joe Bryant

I received the "welcome" email yesterday, asking me to create a Sleeper account (which I did). However, I haven't received anything further regarding what league/draft I'm in. I'm assuming that this all takes time, so I probably have no need to be concerned. That said, I noticed that others apparently HAVE received their specific draft times, etc. Is it possible I missed something, or should I just wait?

The only reason I ask is because setting up the Sleeper account took several tries, only because the first several attempts failed to provide my email/cell with the necessary verification code from Sleeper. I checked spam/junk every time, but to no avail. Then, on about the 7th try, I finally received a code. So, I'm hoping I don't have the same issue with any further emails from them. That said, I'm not sure if the next email would be coming from Sleeper or FBG.

I think they're waiting until the spots are filled up then they're going to create leagues based on draft "availaiblity" and create leagues (divisions per the rules). Once all the manual work is done, leagues get set up on sleeper and that's where your next email comes from. At least that's what it seemed like to me.

Yes. We're seeing more and more with no kickers. I'm not as passionate either way as some, but that's how we decided to go on this one.

@Golden Gopher No one has received their draft times yet. An email went out where you could pick your preferred draft slot. If you could reach out at fbgcommish@footballguys.com with your email, I'd be happy to cross reference it for you. If you didn't receive that email, I can get that one sent over to you.
OK. I might have misinterpreted a post where it seemed like someone's draft time had been confirmed. Maybe that's the only draft time they selected. I did get the email to pick draft slots and chose 2-3 options. Waiting to hear back.

Again, I was assuming that was the case (that we are all waiting). The only thing that made me second-guess that was how many times I had to request a verification code from Sleeper before I actually got one.

Thanks for the response. (y)

I am a little confused. I got the email to get a spot in the Football Guys Bowl. We I got the email I need to confirm the spot but all I got was a site to start a league at Sleeper League web site. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

The Sleeper league website has a horrible interface. You just need to make an account there and post your Sleeper username in the form Joe sent out.

You're very welcome @Golden Gopher ! We are really excited about the Footballguys Bowl (#FBGBowl). Actual sleeper league invite emails should be headed out over the weekend.

@Joe Bryant
Under Scoring

Offense
Sack: 1 point
int: 2 points
etc.....

I think you mean defense
Where did you see this? I received my e-mail invite and submitted my available days and times already. I have a feeling it's on Sleeper, but I am new to that.
On the “Urgent Action Needed” email from Joe there is a link titled “Check out all the Rules here”. It will take you to a post which provides the league settings.
