Sorry we're going right up to the deadline here, bad timing on my part.
5.2: Jean-Luc Picard-Hero
5.2: Jean-Luc Picard-Hero
Awesome pick. Was at the top of my list.
Does he get every one of them or does he have to specify the show he is from for this particular pick?
My intent was for the BBC show starring Benedict Cumberbatch -- apologies if I didn't make myself clear.Does he get every one of them or does he have to specify the show he is from for this particular pick?
Not that it should be the only word, but Aaron Paul won several Emmys for best male supporting actor for this role.Is he a supporting character? I'd say Walter and Jesse were co-leads. He had his own storylines throughout the series.
This was what I was surprised at and what lead to my comment when tim suggested looking at this about the Emmy's casting a way wider net for supporting actor that I was.Not that it should be the only word, but Aaron Paul won several Emmys for best male supporting actor for this role.
It’s also a function of a given show’s nomination strategy. It makes more sense for AMC to promote Cranston for one award and Paul for another than to promote them for the same one. And if the Emmys allow it, they’re gonna do it.This was what I was surprised at and what lead to my comment when tim suggested looking at this about the Emmy's casting a way wider net for supporting actor that I was.
4.11 - Series Finale - M*A*S*H Finale
"Goodbye, Farewell and Amen"
In the United States, the episode drew 105.97 million total viewers and a total audience of 121.6 million. The episode surpassed the single-episode ratings record that had been set by the Dallas episode that resolved the "Who Shot J.R.?" cliffhanger. From 1983 until 2010, "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" remained the most watched television broadcast in American history, passed only in total viewership (but not in ratings or share) in February 2010 by Super Bowl XLIV. It still stands as the most-watched finale of any television series, as well as the most-watched episode.
@higgins
Yep these were two that came up for finale as well, but alas - have never seen either show. I expect a zow/krista comment about how bad my pick was from an EV perspective any time now..
Very good point. It’s also a function of a given show’s nomination strategy. It makes more sense for AMC to promote Cranston for one award and Paul for another than to promote them for the same one. And if the Emmys allow it, they’re gonna do it.
No, but that’s a pretty big one in his favor. Not that it should be the only word, but Aaron Paul won several Emmys for best male supporting actor for this role.
You’re right my bad.@timschochet
Is it too hard for you to type the @ symbol with my username after it. Seems odd. Its your draft, yet you do very little to move it along
"The Last Show" is the 168th episode and series finale of the television sitcom The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and it was written by Allan Burns, James L. Brooks, Ed Weinberger, Stan Daniels, David Lloyd, and Bob Ellison.
The episode won an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series." In executive producer Allan Burns' "Outstanding Comedy Series" acceptance speech at the 29th annual prime-time Emmy Awards, he stated, "We kept putting off writing that last show; we frankly didn't want to do it. I think it said what we wanted it to say. It was poignant, and I believe The Mary Tyler Moore Show was, in the long run, important for many women."
Those we my top 2 also. There's a couple others that may be in that top tier depending on the judge.Yep these were two that came up for finale as well, but alas - have never seen either show. I expect a zow/krista comment about how bad my pick was from an EV perspective any time now..![]()
Nice! This is not a deep category so I am grabbing one of the Mt. Rushmore picks, the other 3 were chosen already... IMHO this is the Gold standard of legendary Series finales and whoever Judges this category has their work cut out for them...
5.07 - The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The Last Show
Side note, when I graduated College in May of 1988, before I started my new first full time job, I went to visit my sister Elizabeth who had started a new job as Food and Beverage Manager for the Hyatt in Minneapolis. One of our side trips was to visit the Mary Tyler Moore show house, which was filmed in Minny, it's a great memory of getting lost and finally finding the house and a fun trip with my sister who passed away suddenly a year ago... I have been re-watching the MTM show every Monday since the summer and it's great to think of her during that time.
BTW I also took a trip to Mt Rushmore... that trip...
Hov34 just took it.I'm intrigued by this ... and I think I know the show. This is going to be a tough one for me. I just realized I have only ever watched 1 western show and I wouldn’t even call it a western.![]()
Hov34 just took it.
Now I am even more intrigued. Thought for sure you were thinking Firefly.NopeHov34 just took it.
Interestingly enough, i did a search after your pick. There was one show on there that I really like, but would say it is not a western. Yet it was on the western list.![]()
I think I know it. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I would call it a Western (unlike Firefly).
I think I know it, too. And it's a western, even if it isn't traditional.![]()

Nasty drafter. I hates them, I does. This is about the time I really stop caring about being judged and just pick things I like. I was in 9th grade when this show came out. It was awesome coming home from school and watching this (along with another cartoon which I wont spotlight) from 4-5 on Fox. If you are a little older and didnt get to watch it, oh well, you missed out on a classic show.
4.13 Batman, The Animated Series, Animated Show
Best finale ever.IT.WAS.A.DREAM
5.4 Newhart-Finale
Pretty sure I do too.![]()
I think I know it. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I would call it a Western (unlike Firefly).
Oh ... THAT show? That's Western all day IMHO. No controversy whatsoever.I think I know it, too. And it's a western, even if it isn't traditional.![]()

Its nice to see I would not have gotten it in the last round. I hate those picks that not one other person even thought aboutNasty drafter. I hates them, I does.
Why dont you judge that category.Best finale ever.
Get out of my head, naasty pick stealer man.
While I don't think Firefly is a western, there are execptions. Quigley Down Under is definitely a western.Okay, I was waiting to see if this would go as a "Western." Love Firefly, but I don't think this should qualify as a Western.
Per the dictionary: "a film, television drama, or novel about cowboys in western North America, set especially in the late 19th and early 20th centuries."
How Ironic that Apple is just another "Big Brother" like all the rest...5.08 Apple Macintosh 1984- Best Commercial
People all across the nation started talking after this Apple commercial aired in 1984. The company was advertising their original Macintosh computer. The ad, directed by Ridley Scott (the same guy behind Alien and Gladiator), showed a scantily clad woman fighting a brainwashing machine, inspired by George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel “1984.” The futuristic society depicted was condemning a bunch of drones to a life based on the “Unification of Thoughts.”
The full 60-second spot aired just once, during Super Bowl XVIII in January 1984, but its influence has extended far beyond. It’s been credited with being the ad that made Super Bowl commercials “a thing” in the first place. The Clio Awards (kind of like the Oscars of advertising) put it to their Hall of Fame while Ad Age named it the #1 Super Bowl commercial of all time.
This ad fired on all cylinders for its pop culture relevance, intelligence, originality, and daring. Surprisingly, the marketing team at Apple originally dismissed the ad, thinking it would be one of the least effective commercials ever tested. They couldn’t have been more wrong! The day after it aired, customers flooded electronics stores, going on to purchase $155 million worth of Macintosh computers three months after the ad debuted, making it a truly memorable commercial.
Well they shouldn't have gotten rid of that Woz guy...How Ironic that Apple is just another "Big Brother" like all the rest...
Doh!5.9 -Greatest TV Dad - Homer Simpson
Greatest doesn't mean most virtuous. Homer is animated, not really, but is the best TV Dad ever imo (funny, me, lazy, me, obese, me, dumb, me. He is the every man and he's drawn in 596 pixel quality over over 2 decades.
Was on my "really, really want to draft this one" list. Love the pick and Homer is the best, it's just a deep category.5.9 -Greatest TV Dad - Homer Simpson

You are an entangled inebriate, are you not?Not for me - I don't consider that show a western.
I have no clue what show you people are talking about.

I've never made a post to this effect.
