The Great 2020 All Time Television Draft: The Simpsons is judged the greatest show of all time (5 Viewers)

Just wait until the airing of grievances and feats of strength.  It's almost Festivus season after all.
I used this reference at work with our new associates. 1/6 of them got it. 🤦‍♂️

I don’t think it got canceled. It did great.
Interesting.  Now I want to watch it more.  I liked the movie a lot, but didn't start the show.  I thought at some point I read there wouldn't be a season 2, and I guess I assumed that meant it was cancelled - at which point I figured WTF is the point of even starting it if they didn't finish the story?.   If it was conceived as a one off season I will be firing that up soon.

Show is much better than the movie.

My proposal: we replace the Western category with a wildcard category.
BUT- those who have already selected a western would able to replace their picks with a wildcard pick, OR put their western pick in a different category, their choice, and nobody could draft a wildcard selection until this was completed.
What do you guys think?
This is the worst idea you've ever had. And considering the body of work it's up against, that's saying something.

I've missed you Timmay

Happy Halloween everyone!

just my two cents since this draft is a fun diversion and no monetary value is at stake, I say we “supersize” this thing and add a bunch more categories why not?

Maybe at the end of this round so the 16th pick gets first dibs if they want....

I’d like to see:

Best legal drama

best medical show

best cop show

best military show

worst finale of all time

best variety show character/bit (ie Karnak vs stupid human tricks vs mr Robinson’s neighborhood)

wild card!

anyway, carry on!
We just need a supplemental draft.

I have my own......thanks.   I actually brought in for my companies Christmas party and only about 1/3 new what it was
The girls in my office did this a few years back. Christmas Tree, Menorah, Mishumaa Saba, Festivus Pole. Right in the lobby, had to walk by it them from the elevator to the front door.

Around December 30 I pointed it out to several executives as we were going to lunch one day. They all looked at each other. "Has that been there the whole month?"

I've never.... ah, nevermind.
Seinfeld is funnier and maybe the better sitcom but it never had the heart that Taxi had. That was a selling point of Seinfeld but I prefer some heart. And not to spotlight but that’s probably the most loaded cast in terms of talent short of Cheers.

13.08 True Detective- drama 1991-2020

season 1 of True Detective is in my opinion the Greatest single season in Television History. That alone should have this series in consideration for best shows ever. Although season 2 was just average. I really enjoyed season 3 and thought it was a great rebound for the series. I’m looking forward to what season 4 will bring.

13.10 - NYPD Blue - 1990-2020 Drama

I know all about the cable giants that were taken, but for network TV, give me this one. It changed prime time, and brought it much more in line with cable shows. From wiki: NYPD Blue has won 84 out of 285 award nominations. The series has garnered 84 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning 20 of them.

we were kicking this one around last night figured it would do soon.

was actually considered pretty groundbreaking in its time and some really fine character development of the ensemble over the course of its run.

Name one quote from Cheers that was regularly quoted around the office. Just one.

Here’s 100 from Seinfeld while we’re waiting. I’ve used at least 80 of them.

FTR I loved Cheers, who didn’t, but they’re not in the same conversation. IMNSHO

Overall I agree but....

It's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milkbone underwear is pretty damn classic.

And even better.....who are three people who have never been in my kitchen.

I wasn’t alive when Taxi was on so I don’t know but the fact that it wasn’t as popular doesn’t have any weight in my appreciation.

interesting read on Taxi

I’ve read several similar pieces on the show over the years. That was one of the all-time greatest casts when it comes to outlandish behavior off camera.

I was thinking about the draft as my edibles were kicking in last night, and I was wondering if we should have broken out the time periods like this:

50s, 60s, 70s

80s, 90s

00s, 10s, 20

There’s just so much more programming these days (and such quality) that’s the 91-20 period is crazy deep. It would have aligned the eras a little better too IMO.

Then I wondered how many milk duds I could fit in my mouth and the inspiration was gone.

13.12 Leading Woman Comedy 1990-2020 - Miriam "Midge" Maisel

5th highest IMDB rated sitcom and she actually does stand-up during the show.
