The Great 2020 All Time Television Draft: The Simpsons is judged the greatest show of all time (4 Viewers)

19.12 Best supporting female character 1990-2020 - Det. Shakima "Kima" Greggs (The Wire)

Wikkid inspired me to make a point so I'm choosing a personal favorite, but this character was so good that the writers had to re-write the script after season one when she was supposed to be killed off. Arguably the moral conscience of the law enforcement officers portrayed on the show, she transcended any stereotypes - including her sexuality and its portrayal - and at the show's end she wound up being one of the most substantative characters on it. 

 
Lots of ways I can go with this turn, but I’m going to go with two categories that I’m not too solid on that are both relatively untapped so far.  Yo Mama selects:

19.16 – Endora (Bewitched) – 50-70 Supporting Woman

Agnes Moorehead was a well known and highly respected actress who (much to her dismay) was most noted for her stellar portrayal of the witch/mother Endora.  She was nominated for 6 emmys and multiple golden globes for this legendary role.  Her constant battles with [redacted] defined her time on the show – she only referred to him by his real name 8 times in the whole series, preferring to call him “whats-his-name”, “Darwin”, “Derwood”, and “Dum-Dum”.

20.01 – Julie Barnes (The Mod Squad) – 50-70 Lead Woman Drama

Ah, my first TV crush.  This show is evenly split between our eras, so I’ll place her here where I think is a better fit (seems more like a 60s show to me).  The lovely and talented Peggy Lipton (she was also a singer) was nominated for 4 emmys and 4 golden globes for this role.  XOXOXO

I thought his drawer full of old eyeglasses was funny when I was a kid. 40 years later ... I've got my own stash of old glasses  :(

Guess I need to watch this.  Have been meaning to, but there is just so much out there.  Where can I stream it?

ETA: looks like HBO max has it.  I'll check it out.

Round 20.6  -  Bill Nye the Science Guy  -  Children's Show

This show won awards and stuff.  It was very influential.  Today's US scientists all seemed to have watched it.

Alright.  Stared at my lists and ideas.  I for sure have a deeper list for most shows, and that's where my weirder ideas will come from, so I will stick a little more by the book and knock out some characters.  

19.15:  DIANE CHAMBERS - leading woman, comedy '71-90

20.02:  **** SOLOMON - leading man, comedy '90-20

Nice, both of these were high on my list. 

 
This guy gets a bit of an unearned redemption arc which may hurt in the voting (or maybe not, he was pretty damn evil) but I'm trying to hit a bunch of my favourite shows over the course of these 50 picks and I don't really see another obvious category for this show. (if only there was a best season one category)... In any case, he's a great villain in terms of both psychological torture and body count. I considered one other guy here from a show I'll probably have to leave on the sidelines now, I hope someone takes that villain.

20.08 - Ben Linus (Lost) - Villain

Fantastic choice and greatly helped by the strength of the actor. 

There was a hilarious segment on one of the late night talk shows where they had Emerson read the most innocuous children's literature to make it sound evil, because he can make anything sound evil.

Ok, Peter Gunn Theme... I had this on my radar early and figured I could wait awhile. But I think Wikkid cryptically alluded to it in one of his posts, so I grabbed it now.

For me, it's an iconic piece of music, composed by the great Henry Mancini (who won an Emmy and two Grammys for this). I knew a lot of theme songs (cheers, believe it or not, etc) would get picked, but it's the deepest of categories. Let's face it - almost every popular show has an iconic/recognizable theme song/music - there are probably 50 out there that you would think are worthy of top 10 status. But few stand the true test of time like this one does - even young people today have heard this even if they have no idea who or what Peter Gunn is, where the Friends theme is long forgotten.

Plus, it's cool as heck.

My favorite hasn't even been picked yet.

ETA: Actually my top 2 are still out there - one  of them, I don't really know from the TV show itself.
