The Great 2020 All Time Television Draft: The Simpsons is judged the greatest show of all time (5 Viewers)

deleted my pick - am re-picking as per Mrs. Rannous comment.

Never would have thought of that.  Does Mrs. R drop the hammer that it's not a doc?
It seemed to satisfy her criteria, which I re-read before picking just to be sure. I definitely think it's a doc into the mind of Nixon and his Presidency. And it was edited to be shown over 4 weeks in 4 90-minute episodes each with a different focus, and it broke records, so it was an anticipated event.

Heh, if it's not and I take a 1... well, I'm used to that!

Round 22.06  -  Sports Play-by-play  -  Pat Summerall

From WIkipedia:

Summerall's stature as pro football's premier television broadcaster was a result of two things: first, his ability to play the "straight man" alongside John Madden's lively, verbose persona; second, his economical delivery that magnified the drama of a moment while allowing the pictures and his baritone-like voice to tell the story.
I loved listening to him and Madden.

It's not a doc.  There are no documentarians.  There's no context.  They are interviews and non-fiction, but not a doc.  I'd pick again.

Thanks. I thought it satisfied the criteria, but I didn't think about the context. I will repick.

22.07 - The Vietnam War - Documentary

I'll stick with Doc. This is my favorite of the Ken Burns docs. It was long, with some episodes going 2 hours, but goodness, what content. It also really, really captured the absolute chaos of that war, from all the different sides. I loved it, and my wife I were transfixed. I probably should have made this my original pick.

Nice. Thought about pairing him up with my Madden pick at some point.

22.XX -Agent 99 - Lead woman Comedy 1950-1970

Brainy, beautiful and incredibly stylish, 99 not only held her own with the guys, she was smarter than they were, and she knew it. 99 was actually the first single working women in a sitcom, move over Mary Tyler Moore. And 99 strapped a gun on and fought bad guys when she went to work. In the mid-60s to have a female character playing such a powerful role on television was rare, perhaps even non-existent. Secret Agent 99 was clearly in the upper echelon of the organization, she was on equal footing in every way to the male agents. And that’s a pretty powerful message to send out to middle-America, including all those girls and young women out there who quickly took on 99  as a role model.

Feldon was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1968 and 1969.

Great pick - love the write up too

It appears BL is not going to be around - trying to catch up.  According to the spreadsheet it appears I owe four picks - is that correct?
