**The Miami Dolphins at The Las Vegas Raiders +2.5(49.5)** (1 Viewer)

Phins gave up on their shot at the playoffs the minute they unnecessarily benched Fitz rather than just let it play out. Most likely Fitz would have fizzled down the stretch. But you don’t bench the guy when he’s on a heater like that for no reason. At least you don’t do such a thing if you are trying to win games. We’re now seeing what Miami’s priorities were.
Fitz 2-3 as a Starter

Tua 7-2 as a Starter

Brees has always been the comp for good reason. It's his reading of the game and quick release that made him stand out. He has never been touted for his athleticism.

Does he have the arm strength to make all the NFL throws? Jury is still out there. He certainly showed signs at Bama (he did throw 45 yards in the air to Smith to with the national championship), but he also had 4 future 1st round WRs to throw to.  I don't think we can find that out when his WRs options are practice squad level players.
For the bearish case though, he has certainly been lucky on some his passes like we just saw. I still think it is too early for him, but Flores apparently disagrees.

I’m biased but would you rather see these Dolphins in the playoffs or the Ravens that have been averaging 40 ppg since Lamar came back from Covid?

Kind of meaningless stat when Fitz had the right pulled out from him for no reason, but ok. And 90% of those wins were on the back of that defense and in spite of Tua.
Wins and losses are meaningless?

You have a biased view of Tua, it's linked to Parker. I am not picking a fight, just being honest. You don't care that that Miami starts 5-6 rookies on Offense every week, are 16-9 since starting 0-7 last year and play a pretty solid team game. It's not always good for FF, but let's not pretend Miami isn't way ahead of schedule, not fading or fleeting, they have been winning a lot lately.

But Fitz made many more plays than Tua. Most of Tua's wins were because of the defense, special teams or running game. He was outstanding in exactly one game  - the win vs the Cardinals. Most franchise QBs show more in their first 9 or 10 starts.  I could see Miami drafting Trey Lance in 2021.

I'm glad we know now and didn't have to wait 3 seasons  like the Jets did with Darnold.

There's no way to tell if Tua is good or bad.

His offensive line can't pass block (see: The Minnesota Vikings), Gaskins is a neat story but isn't exactly a threat, the WR corps is as such in name only, and the scheme is Pop Warner level.

Dolphins are an over achieving team but still aren't very good.
Fitz didn’t seem to have much of a problem passing behind the same line. Parker is an elite WR when you have a QB who is willing to give him a chance to catch the ball (look at last year). Dolphins would be a much better team with a credible threat at QB. They just happen to have one on their bench but would rather now use him.

Hollins flat dropped the ball, it was put right in his bread basket as he went to the ground, nobody touched him or the ball.

That's why he is who he is.

Am I disappointed Tua made Parker useless the minute he took over? Of course. But I would be more upset as a Phins fan to waste the talents of an elite receiver and preemptively punt my chances for the playoffs for no particular reason. And nobody is saying not the play the rooks. Maybe just let the one rook who isn’t ready for prime time (Tua) learn and play when the time is right when you have a better option for right now available.

But instead let’s jerk the kid around when he can’t get it done against the Raiders and hope Fitz can come in and save the team’s bacon.

I'm not going to cry push off as a Phinsfan, Jones needs to make sure that even if he catches it that he rides or pushes him out of bounds, instead he get roasted. $75M Man, they all get burned at times, Playoffs on the line, crucial drive, he gets burned.
