I watched that in college.
The Young and the Restless must have been on PBS.![]()
Dusty had eyes like a husky. This girl I worked with back in the 90s named two of her children Holden and Caleb after the Snyder boys on ATWT. She named another Quinton who was a character on GL.The Dusty/Holden/Lily triangle was the bomb back then.
I was ABC, all the way. My mom hooked me on AMC, OLTL and GH---I had a huge crush on Tina from OLTL in the early 80s (the Andrea Evans Tina). My Great Aunt Mildred watched all the CBS soaps. She called them "The Stories."Pffft, my Grandma watched that one.I was Team “As The World Turns”![]()
Not that they come up in conversation very often, but OH and I still jokingly call them "the stories."
I can see a dividing line forming here between the CBS people who watched Guiding Light and As the World Turns, and the NBC people who correctly watched Days of Our Lives or the ABC people who correctly watched General Hospital. The Young and the Restless must have been on PBS.![]()

If there is ANYONE who would only know the German version, it’s OH.After all the talk of people knowing/not knowing the Falco version of "Der Kommissar," last night apparently OH was reading the thread and said, "I didn't know After the Fire did a version of Der Kommissar."I don't know how he managed to know only the German version.
You missed a chance to call back to the Last 5 Outs and say Everybody Knows.I'm (not-so-)silently judging you people who watched The Young and the Restless.

OK, I've been thinking about how I collated data in the past, and as experienced M-aD-ders know, beginning with the two-point selections I would post information regarding how often a song or an artist had been previously selected. This time is more complicated since we have coverers and covereees, but I expect to show some data starting with the next selections showing how many times a song has been selected, how many different coverers, and something about how many times coverers/coverees have been selected. It's a lot, so I'll have to figure out what's meaningful to present (and suggestions are welcome).
You'll also recall that we had Deja Votes (songs chosen twice at the same ranking), and Menage-a-Falala-Trois (songs chosen three times at the same ranking), and whatever we called that one time when "Gimme Shelter" got 30 points from four different people. I don't expect to have many of those this time, but I'll still identify them as such when they arise.
Finally, we also had double-ups and triple-ups and such when an artist was selected at the same point, but with different songs. I'll call those Coverer double-ups, etc. this time. A new twist is that we will also have different songs of the same artist being covered - i.e., a coveree with more than one at the same spot. Those will be Coveree double-ups, etc.
A subset of the Coveree double-ups will be when the same song is selected at the same spot, but by different artists. I'm going to deem those a Battle of the Bands. We have our first one of those coming up tomorrow, and for a song that in a million years I wouldn't have guessed would be our first Battle of the Bands. Fun!
I'm sure this is all crystal clear, but as always, please PM shuke with any questions.
Do I have any action items?
please PM shuke
, I'll wait.
This is his only selection, so you can post away.

My 2-pointer was a notable hit record (#9 UK, #13 US). There was another earlier cover of the same song that was not a US hit … a pretty interesting cover that I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone pick here.As mentioned we have our first Who Wore It Better? !!! The song that will come up twice from two different artists isI'll wait while everyone looks to see "could this be me?"
I dont think anyone but you and me know that yet lolAs you know, we have two lists that comprise only songs from the same covered artist. We know that one is Abba.
I guess soap opera talk is better than dad jokes![]()

We may need to do this again. I just came up with two more covers I would like to pick, and I'm not even trying.

Are you saying we could do a cover of the cover countdown?!

That's a "come hither" look!
I was, of course, a John "Blackie" Stamos fan on General Hospital.
I just looked him up. He's 60 and still damn fine.
Yeah he’s been touring with The Beach Boys on and off for about 40 years. Great song and great track to lead-off a great album. Heart Like a Wheel is one of my favorites from the 70s.Anyway, there are a bazillion versions that have been done since and Linda's is the most famous. It kind of set the template for many of her later covers and is about as raw as she ever got (from a '70s SoCal perspective). The band is full of ringers and Ronstadt sings the hell out of it. I think it's the best vocal of her classic period.
He'll be stoked!
I love that album. Recently found a used LP version at my local record store and it sounds as sweet as ever. You're No Good – Linda Ronstadt (Dee Dee Warwick)

He'll never stop, will he?
Not at about 200-300 bucks per ticket (often more) for each concert he’s still putting on.He'll never stop, will he?
