...Nike.

Reebok/adidas is completely out. VF will continue as the only other apparel manufacturer.

New Era and Twins will share headwear.

G-III has outerwear.

Should be an NFL press release today sometime, if not already.

ya, here's a bit from yesterday...

On the day that the NFL announced Nike will replace Reebok as the league's uniform supplier in 2012, a Nike official said changes are coming to NFL jerseys.

Nike Brand President Charlie Denson told Darren Rovell of CNBC that the change would be similar to changes that Nike has made to college football jerseys.

"We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we've done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available," Denson said. "The NFL program hasn't had the same type of advancement in recent years.

After years of Reebok leading the way on NFL jerseys, it will be interesting to see what dramatic changes Nike comes up with. I just hope no NFL team follows the hideous example of Oregon in college football.
if Nike starts effing with standard unis too much, i hope teams revolt and just play shirts and skins.

It won't happen to the same degree as college. The NFL is known as the "No Fun League" for many reasons...one of which is the way the league strictly controls licensing. For example, they don't allow a lot of the types of tee graphics you see in MLB or College with rivalries. These college jerseys also don't translate very well to retail. You have to be able to mass produce a Mark Sanchez jersey...designing it too complex makes that difficult.

btw, who is VF? i guess it should be obvious.
VF is actually the largest apparel company in the world. Brands include Lee, Wrangler, Nautica, The North Face, Vans, Reef, Jansport....they have a licensed division that includes Majestic (onfield MLB), NBA, NHL, College licenses...they have been the only other NFL apparel vendor for the last 5 years other than Rbk. They man. NFL apparel under the "NFL" label...so if you have a polo that does not have the Reebok vector on it...its from VF.
also, was under armour never involved?
They tried for onfield...Nike pulled out all the stops though. UA just isn't big enough to match what was done.

good info gump.

are nike college jerseys constructed different? different materials, stitch patterns, whatnot? i could see that being an area where the nike jersey will be completely different with newer synthetic materials and maybe sewn together a little different for better fit and feel, but the looks basically being the same.

Great point Beef. The NFL will likely limit some of the crazy college looks...one sleeve color-blocking, 'combat' unis, etc. But Nike will absolutely be bringing some cutting edge fits and fabrications. It'll be interesting to see what they put together for us to buy. Rbk has the 3 tier offering....the $80 replica, the $115 replithentic, and the expensive authentic. And they do a pretty good job of replenishing those tiers. Nike is not known for doing this as well in college...so they will have to step it up from a domestic production standpoint.I would hope to see a really cool, high-tec middle price point...and a basic screened cheaper option.

Rumor is Nike agreed to a $150M/year guarantee to the NFL.

Considering Rbk reported roughly $400M/year in NFL licensed sales...and that included headwear that Nike won't have...that would be a minimum 37.5% royalty. :lmao:

Shows you how important brand equity is to them.

Willing to bet they mean materials form, fit, feel, etc. Not logos and style. Heck teams like Bears, Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, Browns, Chiefs.......can't see them all the sudden going all Oregon, UFL on us.
