Oh, I wouldn't say it's a bad film adaptation, just that it's a bad film.55 (tie). Maximum Overdrive

Already saw some hate for this earlier in the thread. You can't say this is a bad film adaption, since King directed it. Love the AC/DC soundtrack.

For me, this is in the next wave of movies that I would put in bucket of having issues with but still enjoy watching. Like pip said - parts are a bit uncomfortable.55 (tie). Sixteen Candles

Hard to believe there was a time in our lives when high school movies included scenes of gratuitous nudity. The world used to be a different place. Some of 16 Candles is uncomfortable to watch now but it’s very well-written and memorable.
Yep. It’s not even that which I was referring to. It’s Farmer Ted committing what we now call date rape and some of the stuff with the Japanese exchange student seems kind of racist by today’s standards. (But I like that they showed he wanted to have fun just like the American teenagers.)Hard to believe there was a time in our lives when high school movies included scenes of gratuitous nudity. Agreed. I would not “throw the baby out with the bath water” on this one, but I would not show it to my kid either.some of the stuff with the Japanese exchange student seems kind of racist by today’s standards
I think everybody knows I'm not particularly politically correct. This is very true. It's just flat-out racist and uncomfortable for me to watch.
I still think the movie is a worthy one.
Poor Gedde Watanabe. Up until several years ago his performance was beloved by audiences from all over. Now it's viewed as racist. He was asked about this a few years back and said something to the effect of he wasn't trying to offend anyone. He just wanted to make people laugh. Who was offended by his character/performance when the movie came out up until 30 years after it came out. Nobody. Now he gets lambasted on twitter by kids whose parents were children when the movie came out.Yep. It’s not even that which I was referring to. I think the random ones are mine. Or at least two of them are and they are coming up soon. If I'm not in front of my computer just be reassured I have really good reasons for including them and will post judtifications.I think this is the turning point in the list. From here on out, all the picks should be fairly appreciated except for a few random ones.

Now he gets lambasted on twitter by kids whose parents were children when the movie came out.
Yet another reason why Twitter is a cesspool.Poor Gedde Watanabe. Up until several years ago his performance was beloved by audiences from all over. Now it's viewed as racist. What was the harm in the humor? He played an introverted exchange student in the 80's who gets drunk for the first time. Now he gets lambasted on twitter by kids whose parents were children when the movie came out.
That's sad. I think he should get a pass. He wasn't in control of the creative content and probably didn't see the harm in the humor. That's where the zeal can lead, though. Sad all around.

about right....might have cracked my top 100. Shout out to young John Cusack. The nerds at the dance is definitely the best part of this movie. And of course the nude shower scene with hot chick.
Other than the fact that it should be “Who Made Whom”, I dig it.55 (tie). Maximum Overdrive
