The Return of the Desert Island Jukebox Draft - Drop in a quarter (2 Viewers)

Wasn't Saints-Man the big Beatles fan or am I thinking of someone else?
That's saintsfan.  Haven't seen him around here for a long time, come to think of it.

Saints-Man was the guy who ruled the "were you ever a cheerleader" thread, if you remember that.  Genuinely one of the nicest guys I've come across here.  He reached out to me out of the blue, in a non-creepy way, when I was new and people were their usual ####### selves.

Wasn't Saints-Man the big Beatles fan or am I thinking of someone else?
You're thinking of saintsfan, I think. Two different guys. Saints-Man had that incredible thread about a former girlfriend and his other endeavors. I think saintsfan has Revolver as his avatar.

Indeed, I just checked. saintsfan is the guy you're thinking of.

I said Juanita, my sweet Jaunita, what are you up to?
My Juanita
I said Jaunita, my sweet taquita, what are you up to?
My Juanita
Don't want nobody who won't dive for dimes
Don't want no speedballs 'cause I might die tryin
Throw me a line, throw me a line
'Cause there's a fat man in the bathtub with the blues
I hear you moan, I hear you moan, I hear you moan

Mayo is the devil's condiment.
Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Doomed
Pick your pockets full of sorrow
Run away with me tomorrow
June

Try, ease the pain
Somehow we'll feel the same
Well, no one knows
Where our secrets go

I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
Dream
I'm rumored to the straight and narrow
While the harlots of my perils
Scream

And I fail
But when I can, I will
Try to understand
That when I can, I will

Mother weep the years I'm missing
All our time can't be given
Back
Shut my mouth and strike the demons
Cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and out of season
Out of love and out of feeling
So bad

When I can, I will
Words defy the plan
When I can, I will

Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Old enough to always feel this
Always old, I'll always feel this

No more promise no more sorrow
No longer will I follow
Can anybody hear me
I just want to be me
When I can, I will
Try to understand
That when I can, I will

She goes, squeeze me, come on and squeeze me
Come on and tease me like you do
I'm so in love with you
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night

She goes in and out and in and out
And in and out and in and out
'Cause she's playing all night
And the music's all right
Mama's got a squeeze box
Daddy never sleeps at night
Who's that?

With that in mind, I'd like to do something. Joe doesn't know if he can keep the boards up if there's no season. I think we've all gotten to know each other quite well over the years, enough so that I can lodge my email in your contacts, hopefully. It's rockaction8@gmail.com. My name will come up as Flash Garbonzo (I couldn't think of anything better at the time.) But it's me. If these boards go down, hopefully we keep in touch.

That's just for now. I'll post it again later or start a thread about it.
Where is this being discussed?

That'll always remind of the scene in Freaks and Geeks where they play that and tell the father that it's an accordion. He's doubtful, but the square mom backs the kids.

It was over in the COVID thread. I have no idea about the seriousness of it. I'll compile a list of anybody willing to publicly list on an Excel spreadsheet. Krista says this has been said before, though, so people's mileages may vary. But it's been noted. Also, people can PM me if they'd rather not have it on this forum as public. I can assure you that most every PM response or real email address will receive my name and email and that your anonymity is as safe as I can make it.

Whoa.  I just read this and it made me super sad.  Yeah, he's threatened it before, but seems like it could be more of a reality with COVID and his tone in the PSF.    Sounds a bit dramatic, but I would lose a chunk of my sanity if I lost out on talking movies and music with you folks around here.

Like krista said - I really hope Joe would give a head's up and we can try to coordinate something - another board, FB, group, email chain?  0 clue.   Anyway, my email is thelukewarm@gmail.com .   I think on FB I am friends with NV and that's it.  I have an account on there, but took it off my phone a couple months ago but would for sure put it back on and just get better at blocking the riffraff if thats the route we went.

I can't have an entire juke without at least one metal cut.

Round 50 Disturbed - Land of Confusion (2005)

Cool original, especially by 80's standards. Even if the video was just ####### creepy. But Disturbed elevated it. I think most metal covers miss the mark, trying to force out a more aggressive version than its predecessor. This one came through much more naturally than its contemporaries.

Where is Binky???
it's after 8 on a Friday

:oldunsure:
apologies ...had company over - swam in the cement pond, cooked dinner and had many drinks and laughs.

sous vide some pork tenderloins that had a 24-hour marinade in a whiskey/soy sauce mixture - then reverse-seared them on the grill, and had a homemade hollandaise on the side

grilled white sweet corn

I know people here hate cantaloupe but as melt in your melt the tenderloins were ...everyone went nuts over this

our guests brought over an italian creme cake with blueberries ...I'm not a cake guy, but this thing wasn't "cakey: ..more gooey ...it was great

and we all ####-hammered.

50.03:  Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot (1992)

:lmao:  ...this is SO not me.

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, want to pull up tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I want to get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes (me so horny)
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you want to get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupie
I've seen her dancin'
To hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas (yeah) Fellas (yeah)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (hell yeah)
Tell 'em to shake it (shake it) shake it (shake it)
Shake that healthy butt
Baby got back (L.A. fits with the Oakland booty)

Baby got back (L.A. fits with the Oakland booty)

I like 'em round, and big
And when I'm throwin' a gig
I just can't help myself, I'm actin' like an animal
Now here's my scandal
I want to get you home
And ugh, double-up, ugh, ugh
I ain't talkin' bout Playboy
'Cause silicone parts are made for toys
I want 'em real thick and juicy
So find that juicy double
Mix-a-Lot's in trouble
Beggin' for a piece of that bubble
So I'm lookin' at rock videos
Knock-kneed bimbos walkin' like hoes
You can have them bimbos
I'll keep my women like Flo Jo
A word to the thick soul sistas, I want to get with ya
I won't cuss or hit ya
But I gotta be straight when I say I want to ####
Til the break of dawn
Baby got it goin' on
A lot of simps won't like this song
'Cause them punks like to hit it and quit it
And I'd rather stay and play
'Cause I'm long, and I'm strong
And I'm down to get the friction on
So, ladies (Yeah) Ladies (Yeah)
If you want to role in my Mercedes (Yeah)
Then turn around, stick it out
Even white boys got to shout
Baby got back

Baby got back
Yeah, baby, when it comes to females
Cosmo ain't got nothin'
To do with my selection
Thirty six-twenty- four-thirty six
Ha ha, only if she's 5'3

So your girlfriend rolls a Honda, playin' workout tapes by Fonda
But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda
My anaconda don't want none
Unless you've got buns, hon
You can do side bends or sit-ups
But please don't lose that butt
Some brothers want to play that hard role
And tell you that the butt ain't gol'
So they toss it and leave it
And I pull up quick to retrieve it
So Cosmo says you're fat
Well I ain't down with that
'Cause your waist is small and your curves are kickin'
And I'm thinkin' bout stickin'
To the beanpole dames in the magazines
You ain't it, Miss Thing
Give me a sista, I can't resist her
Red beans and rice didn't miss her
Some knucklehead tried to dis
'Cause his girls are on my list
He had game but he chose to hit 'em
And I pull up quick to get wit 'em
So ladies, if the butt is round,
And you want a triple X throw down,
Dial 1-900-MIXALOT
And kick them nasty thoughts
Baby got back

Baby got back

Deviled eggs are good, and they have mayonaise in them, but it's mixed in, and not like a layered condiment. Also, if I eat tuna salad or chicken salad for egg salad I put as little mayonaise in it as possible.
simey knows things.  Important things.
I mix mayo and sour cream about 50/50 for my chicken/tuna/egg/pasta salad type stuff - you may want to give that a try

My daughter doesn't like mayo so I substitute plain yogurt and olive oil when I make chicken salad.

I do a half and half of that when I make macaroni salad. I've never tried it in the other salads. Maybe I should. When I do use mayo it is always Dukes Light.

I've used plain yogurt before like Eephus mentioned, but I can't remember in what. Seems like it was dip.

Grizzly Bear  (2009)

Started exploring some of the rap of the past decade and crossover with indie rock and found several cool ones which unfortunately overlapped with my other stuff.  This one will work, though.

Logic  (2015)

I have only just started to appreciate Logic in the past few years.  When he's at his best he's one of the best of the decade.

"Cultivating Your New Experience" does a lot of cool things, though not always the most head-nodding.  This one bucks that trend.
