2024 Year-End Song Draft - 280 songs of the year (2 Viewers)

SCS 11: Jesse Welles - War Isn’t Murder

Bit of a backstory to this artist. I stumbled upon an album back in 2018 by a band named "Welles". Actually drafted a song or two from this band that year. Then they seemed to drop off the map. No new stuff. Three years later ('21) we go to see Black Pistol Fire (the missus is a fan) and guess who's opening for them? Welles. It was a good show. They're not big enough to have someone else selling their merch so I got to talk with the briefly while purchasing a t-shirt. So I continue to wait for new music from them but it never comes. On a whim this summer I started looking into the status of the band and it appears the main guy has moved on as a solo act making folksy protest music. At first I was disappointed, but after listening to it a bit it started to grow on me. I think it has something to do with his voice. Thought maybe some in here would appreciate it.

SCS 12: Maggie Rogers - Sick Of Dreaming

Maggie channeling Sheryl Crow.

So that's a dozen unique picks for 2024. From this point on, I will be selecting some songs that were drafted in the mid-year just because I enjoyed them so much I feel they must be part of the Year End playlist.

I'm enjoying the playlist, thus far, but it is a LOT to digest. According to my YM playlist, this sucker is up to 173 songs and over 6 hours long! And we're only a little over half-way through.

Keep 'em coming,

J

Uh oh, my Spotify list says 172 songs. What did I miss? (Notice I have not posted that the playlist is up to date since I've screwed it up multiple times. :D )
I think you're missing "The Fences of Stonehenge by Wild Pink". HTH.

13. Ferris & Sylvester - Rain

London, England, Soul, Blues Rock, Psychedelic, Pop Folk duo. Surprised this wasn't more popular.

Lol.. was trying to tee up one of the tunes from that album just now. Onwards!

Yeah, I am just showcasing albums from the year that I am fond of at this point. Pretty sure I picked one of her songs in the mid year draft as well.

SCS 13: Post Sex Nachos - Feel This Way

Full credit to @kupcho1 for introducing us to this song in the mid-year. Although my streaming service indicated "She's Leaving You" by MJ Lenderman was my most played song of the year, that's largely due to the algorithms tossing into my various mixes. If I weren't being polite and selecting unique songs to start off this draft, I would have selected this one as my first overall pick. A must for my Year End list.

Alternative / Indie Rock Band hailing from Lisburn, Northern Ireland with a catchy Latin beat.

How about songs from some popular indie pop Gen Z (I think) women?

13. Beabadoobee — Take a Bite

14. Clairo — Juna

14. Scooter Blues - Johnny Blue Skies, Sturgill Simpson

Staying with the Jimmy Buffett vibe.

The year end playlist is now 200 songs. It just passed the mid-year playlist which had 198 tracks.
I’m not sure if just me, but when I tried clicking on the link in the OP, it said that the link was expired. I was able to find it by looking under your profile though (I was able to find your profile from some other playlist of yours that I have saved).

This is great... Another Spotify miss for my feed. How much GRMLN can one guy listen to?

You! Me! Dancing! Was 3yo floppinhos favorite dance party jam (17yo now). Has a major place in my heart because of that

13. Plastic Flowers- Money Boys

14. Pop Pop Pop- IDLES (remix with Danny Brown)

Non-pick Danny Brown continuation...

Joey Valence & Brae w/ Danny Brown
