The Russia Investigation: Trump Pardons Flynn (14 Viewers)

Cohen's plea deal does not require him to cooperate with the Russia investigation. Mueller's team agreed to that in part because they do not consider Cohen a credible witness.

No, not really.  They agreed to it because his plea bargain speaks for itself.  Also, they're going to find more on him, at which point there will be more cooperation.  Also, hint hint?  Any plea deal involves cooperation whether it says so or not.

Cohen was investigated and convicted under a US Attorney whom Trump personally interviewed and selected.

Yeah Randall covered all that pages ago. But these guys pop in last minute, without reading a freaking thing, and then spout off with authority.

Michael Cohen’s lawyer is on @maddow right now saying Cohen has knowledge he’s willing to share with Mueller about Russia conspiracy to interfere in election and Trump knowledge about hacking during campaign. Today seems more and more like just the tip of the iceberg.

Tip of the spear.

I actually think Noonan has a fair point, sure a man will do whatever it takes to hide his infidelity from his family and friends. And yeah paying 315K per year to do that may not be a big deal to a moneybags like Trump. And then there’s the possibility that Melania has a prenup with penalties for cheating. And to be fair those kinds of points helped John Edwards get off.

Ok fine. But also Melania knows about both Stormy and McDougal now and she hasn’t left. And as Trumpites point out no one really cares about Trump’s personal scabrousness.
Hilary stayed with Bill when he paid off a woman while in office.  These marriages aren’t like normal marriages, let’s be honest.

What Trump did is awful morally, but it’s the type of things politicians do.

What matters now is if politicians will band together and impeach him.  I suspect that this will not be nearly enough under the current congress, but who knows.  I’ve recently found the best thing to do when big news comes out is to read as much as you can, give it a few days to simmer, and enjoy the show.

You should look up what Lanny Davis just said on Maddow.

Dupe.

Man hannity is amazing. He just finished a rousing discussion about how trump did nothing illegal and Clinton is still not being investigated and Obama committed campaign finance law violations and segued to the horrific murder of this young innocent girl murdered by an illegal immigrant.

It certainly appears like a tip of the iceberg moment.  Time will tell whether this was all Mueller found or whether this was just the beginning.

What's the point of going on TV to say this?

It's just the beginning.

Did you see that he delayed Flynn's sentencing again?

There's information he has, details he has, testimony he has...that he doesn't want out there yet.

Shouldn't he recuse himself from this convo since he actually was represented or advised by Cohen?

This whole thing is nuts.

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with Trump or Russia.  CHECKMATE

Yeah that’s very odd. I mean if Cohen had the goods, it’s lights out.  But why would he publicly say that?  So weird.
Don't believe anything anyone connected to Trump has to say.  That includes their lawyers.  You'll be the better for it.

Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA. These agreements are.....

The Cohen emails that the Special Master reviewed when Cohen claimed "client attorney privilege" have also added relevance:

Also newsworthy is the fact that last week the special master in the case finished her review of the documents seized from Cohen’s office and determined that almost none of the documents are protected by attorney-client privilege. Judge Wood formally adopted that finding on Monday. This means that almost all of these documents will be available to prosecutors investigating the Trump campaign. Given Cohen’s admissions today, these documents from his office may prove to be very valuable to the special prosecutor’s office.
Trump's fixer likely knows a lot about a lot of things

Probably signals to anyone else out there that now is the time to talk.
Do not give benefit of the doubt to anyone associated with Trump in illegal proceedings until their stories have been confirmed by other sources.  Treat everyone tied to Trump, everyone in business with him, everyone politically connected to him, as lying from the outset.  99.99% guaranteed to lead you to a better outcome than hoping time after time that there is decency there.

There isn't.

Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis was just on CNN as was asked he would agree to meet with Mueller.  Paraphrasing but yes, Cohen knows just about everything about Trump and will answer questions honestly, including questions about the Trump foundation.

Lanny Davis used Rudy's words against him.  Showed the tape of when Guiliani admitted Trump directed the payments and re-paid Cohen.  Now that's been deemed a felony.

Trump:  "When I said I directed those payments, I meant that I did not direct those payments.  I thought that was clear from the context, but just wanted to clarify now.  There should have been a "not" in there.  Hopefully that clears everything up now."

Sounds like Michael isn't done talking despite his plea deal not "requiring" cooperation.  And like his lawyer was quick to point out, he's known Trump a long time and knows just about everything about him - including info about the Trump foundation.  Doesn't sound like Trump should feel relieved about the no-cooperation plea deal.

Current spin:  (1)  a candidate can donate whatever he wants to his own campaign; (2)  paying hush money is legal; (3) non-disclosure of campaign contributions is a technical violation and it happens all the time

So everyone should just ignore the fact that Trump is now a named conspirator to a felony for which his attorney plead guilty.   It's just not a big deal.  How 'bout we get back to those emails now?

Davis made it clear Cohen has dirt on Trump that could be used in state court in New York, so no pardon...

Just repeating what Jeff Glor said on CBS evening news. You probably know more tho.  Of course he will "cooperate" if it help his sentencing and of course why wouldn't his lawyer yap about that on tv.

Shader, it’s good to see ya, and let me say the Melania-Hillary ‘as wife’ comp is a fresh one.

Yep good thoughts there.
