The Russia Investigation: Trump Pardons Flynn (6 Viewers)

Thanks.  I honestly just wondered the answer.
If he has any sense at all he never would take this to trial.  Without motivated prosecutors he would have been able to plead out lower, I expect, but unfortunately he and his compatriots have made things difficult for very motivated prosecutors.

Any campaign that was forewarned about Russian efforts would have taken the meeting and then denied taking the meeting and then lied about the content of the meeting and would then say they'd be stupid not to take the meeting like they've been very clear about all along and what about emails and Benghazi and Uranium One and #######s.
To be fair, the TT meeting was in June and the FBI warning was August.  Still, they should have known better, they should have reported the meeting after being warned, and they certainly should not have lied about it at every step.

Apologize if this has been mentioned recently. You step away from the internet and suddenly this thread grows by 20 pages...

Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone that campaign tax violations is really legal-speak for cheating during the election.

I'd also agree that this isn't really Russia related.  So what.  We still have Trump being implicated for cheating during the election.  Maybe not as treasony as Collusion or all that, but still should disqualify the man from the office.

There really is no justification for not moving forward with impeachment at this point.  None.
It needs be considered more than just cheating.... Hillary cheated by getting debate questions from Donna Brazile.

Well, looks like Cohen maybe facing 3-5 years of jail time after pleading guilty...i'd imagine the candidate would be in for worse if he's not pleading guilty.
Cohen is pleading guilty to 8 counts.  Only one of those counts is the campaign finance violation.

I need to read the guilty plea to be sure, but I could probably figure out the sentencing guideline on the campaign finance stuff.  Keep in mind, that prosecutors could tack on a charge for conspiracy against the United States, which carries a maximum five year sentence of it's own.  My best guess is that, considering the amount of money involved, it would be around 3-5 years as well.

:lmao:

Just read that Cohen admitted he had a drink within twenty-four hours of taking the plea.  He had a glass of Glenlivet 12. He’s like the first guy ever to honestly answer that question. Kudos.

Would we if she had been elected President? My point this was more than just cheating by “Candidate 1.”
If Hillary had won, she would certainly be investigated for the Steele dossier. And as long as Republicans were in charge of Congress and there were elections on the line, there would be hearings about "Dossiergate". But without establishing guilt of people working for Hillary, it would be very difficult to justify impeaching Hillary.

And nobody's impeaching her over Donna Brazile's email.

I constantly am thinking what an embarrassment our country has become. And then days like today happen and I remember there are honorable people in positions of authority and I think maybe we’ll be okay. Maybe?
You must be kidding. Trump’s election exposed and emboldened the dark underbelly of racism and ignorance of a huge swath of Americans which will linger almost as long as it’ll take for us to repair our reputation on the world stage. Whatever time Trump remains in office, we will need five times as many years to recover from the damage he has done, if not more.

Thinking about it a bit more, impeachment probably isn't the answer right now. All we have is the word of s convicted felon.

However, there most certainly is smoke here, WRT the Trump campaigns finances.  What we really need is a new Special Councel to dig into the campaigns finances, and especially it's principal contributors...including (but not limited to) the Trump family and the Trump Org.

This Councel is not charged to look into Russia but any and all financial crimes stemming from the campaign and any other financial crimes uncovered during the course of the investigation.

Or, maybe Mueller is on it anyways and will issue a wholly independant briefing to DoJ/Congress when he's done.  Either way.

Dude. Councel?

Lordy, there are tapes.  Why do you think Cohen is pleading?

A felon I'd like to have a drink with.

Manafort will get more time. He’s doesn’t appear to be cooperating, is not admitting to anything, is facing more charges, and they are more serious.

Right.  Manafort appears to be up for 10 to 14 or so on the 8 current convictions.  With lots of charges still pending in the DC action and the possibility of retrying the 10 mistried charges.

I don’t think so. The whole “Steele Dossier” story was fabricated as a response to the Russian investigation.

Hillary would have been investigated for the email scandal.
The House would have impeached Hillary by July 2017 at the latest.

Senate wouldn’t have removed her from office because they wouldn’t have the votes.

... Scalia’s old seat on the SCOTUS would still be vacant.  And the same users crowing “nothing about Russia” today would be saying there’s nothing in the Comstitution saying there has to be nine justices on the Supreme Court.

If it winds up being a violation of campaign laws I agree, but as stated in this thread many Presidents have been guilty of campaign funds so meh
Maybe, I’ll even concede probably.  But wasn’t a core tenet of Trumps campaign he was going to clean up the crookedness of Washington and “drain the swamp”.  So shouldn’t he drain himself then?

You can’t have it both ways.  He’s either cleaning things up and any ####ty behavior that was done prior is not acceptable or he’s a dirty scumbag like the rest and should be gone. Plain and simple.

Of course the answer could be that Trump is just a liar, criminal and a con man.  (Hint this is the answer).

No - Cohen did not said "directed" he said coordinated - if you are going to over-react, at least do it correctly. There is a reason Meuller punted on the Cohen case - there is no there, there.
Cohen and his attorney both said "directed," which was quoting Giuliani.
