The Sens Loeffler and Burr Resignation Thread (2 Viewers)

It's a little strange if they're going after Burr but not Loeffler.
Burr's always seemed a bit more suspicious. He moved like most of his money. Loeffler moved more but they're also worth $500 million. She claimed it was done by a 3rd party FA. Assume that is probably easier to verify. But given her husband is CEO of ICE and head of the NYSE, any impropriety would be a lot worse than Burr.

I suspect it is very unlikely that either senator faces any consequence for their action, given that the Senate ethics committee and the DOJ are both controlled by the same party.

Things like this are a prime example of the problems with a two-party system.  Unfortunately, we are locked into a two-party system until we implement one or both of ranked order voting or proportional representation.

Wow Barr is stepping aside as Senate Intel chair... with a chunk of the bipartisan committee 2016 Russian interference coming down the pike. This feels like some authoritarian maneuver, and I say that carefully. I mean Inhofe, etc could still be looked at but right now Barr is the only one?

Can't wait to see what loyalist is put atop Intel and how quickly the bipartisan work on Russia falls apart.

Also should be noted that McConnell will keep him around until September so a special election isn’t triggered until 2022.

It’s all choreographed.

Burr may be easier to track - I thought I read somewhere (might have been here) they are also investigating trades made by Burr's brother-in-law at the same time.  I could see a scenario where they spoke with BIL - he denied talking with Burr, and now they are going after the phone to show communication.

Also, Loeffler may be more complicated - given her husband's position.

Sen. Feinstein answered questions from law enforcement about her husband’s stock trades amid the coronavirus pandemic, her spokesman says. She provided documents that showed she was not involved, per spox.

So, it seems, they are taking a look at a number of people.

Its par for the course with this admin and not he least bit strange.  Burr's committee created the report confirming Russia interfered in 2016.  His unmitigated genuflection to our fearless leader has been deemed insufficient.

Oh of course not. Lmao.
