Of the most recent 20, I only had Bob's Burgers (my #17.) It's just funny and wholesome and goofy in all the right ways.
:hifive: #10 for me

Woot! Who's my Cosmos buddy?
that's the one with NDT right?
It is. I had a hard time deciding between this one and the Carl Sagan one. Either making the list at all is a triumph in my eyes.
I went with Carl. it was an iconic series.

I ranked Parts Unknown and Top Gear in the top half of my 70.

I prefer Bourdain's Travel Channel show to the CNN one. Parts Unknown generally takes a more serious tone and lacks a bit of the fun factor of the earlier show.

I still occasionally tune in to the Top Gear channel on PlutoTV and watch whatever random segment it happens to be on. The Clarkson/Hammond/May cast had rare on-screen chemistry; just how rare can be seen in watching any other version of the show with different presenters.

This is fascinating. I don’t watch enough tv. I probably haven’t seen half or more of what’s posted so far. Top gear and Anthony Bourdain were must watch tv.
These are shows showing up on 2-3 people’s lists only at this point so it’s understandable you wouldn’t know some. There’s been a few I never heard of.

Same.

I can imagine once we get into the top 20 or so, it will be routine to have a show that 40 people had on their list.

A few of them would have been in my list for sure. Some quite high

Shark Tank probably should have made my list since I’ve enjoyed it for a long time.

Just couldn’t remember everything and turned my list in early to avoid driving myself crazy.

None of the rest even got consideration from me.
Shark Tank only being on 2 lists is the first real surprise to me. I don't know if I thought it would make the top 300 but assumed it would be on more lists than mine and one other.
Mine was the other. I love the show and have seen every episode. I think I had it in the 30's because I love those ahead of it more.

Instead of the top 25, let's finish the honorable mentions with everyone's top ranked show that did not make the top 300. There will obviously be overlap with the previous top 5 list.

Tables arent posting properly so this may look a bit janky.

The fact that my #40 didn't make the top 300 has, believe it or not, restored my faith in the board as I've got one or two ranked higher The Umbrella Academy that I did not expect to have rank.
On the other hand ... I thought The Umbrella Academy was very well done.

The Umbrella Academy | Official Trailer | Netflix

The show is based on the comic series of the same name; per Wiki:
The Umbrella Academy is an American comic book series created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. It follows a dysfunctional family of adopted superhero siblings with bizarre powers attempting both to save the world and find their place within it. Published intermittently by Dark Horse Comics, the comic is released in six to seven issue limited series, typically lasting six issues. Since 2007, three volumes have been published, as have two spin-offs. The fourth volume of the main series is currently in development.

The comic has garnered a close following and has been praised by critics, with the first limited series, Apocalypse Suite, winning of the 2007 Eisner Award for Best Finite Series/Limited Series.

Anyway, on with the show.
Umbrella Academy just missed the cut for me.

By the way, The Young Ones was @John Maddens Lunchbox number one show. Thought that was worthy of pointing out.

I knew I liked JML.
(I had it at #39)

The Young Ones also had great musical guests right in the middle of the action.
My Life is A Simulation part 2339, Madness - Our House was playing from today's theme playlist and I thought of

Madness - Our House (on the Young Ones).

Heres, complete with Umlauts, Motörhead - Ace of Spades

Would have made my list but they blew season 3, iirc, by making it about Elliot Page and not about the show

Nothing on my list in this batch. Ren and Stimpy was funny at first but I thought it ran out of gas quickly. I saw the occasional episode of Monk because I love Tony Shaloub but it seemed like the show was more interested in letting Shaloub run wild with his quirky self than in developing any plots or storylines worth caring about. I saw plenty of Little House when growing up because my sister loved it, but it’s not my thing. Not seen anything else in this group.

I had True Blood in the top 25 I believe.

Soooooookkkkie!
They went to the stupid teeth coming out / snarl about 100 times too many
I agree with your take above that it got comically bad at the end. Once we started getting into werepanthers and fairies I stopped taking it too seriously. That said, it was one of the shows my wife and I watched together and looked forward to watching despite the decline. S1 hooked us with some of the ideas and characters, and I liked the murder mystery subplot. It was about S3 or S4 when it started spiraling. It was entertaining enough, had some laughs, and had some eye candy. (admittedly tilted more in my wife's favor on that last one...)

I started watching Umbrella Academy with the family. I bailed after season 1 but can't remember why. It probably would have made the list of my wife & daughter if they followed through with the project.

I didn't have any in this batch, either, and I've never even seen any of them other than a few episodes of Little House, Jackass and Fresh Prince.

I only have seen a few episodes of Fresh Prince, but Will Smith first showed he could really act in that “very special episode” where his father deserted him again:

pretty surprised that Fresh Prince didn't make the top 100. I think it's pretty iconic and is up there with Saved by the Bell and Family Matters (which I assume made the list) The theme song alone is worth at least a point. This was my 14. My wife loves little house and can't wait for netflix to destroy it.

reading the updates makes me realize that I had a serious recency bias in my brain when creating my list. I used to watch the hell out of some of these older shows.

I would make sure I was home to watch reruns of What's Happening every single day...I could have set my watch by it. "no Roger, no Rerun, no rent!"

I like the fact that Ren & Stimpy is tied with Little House on the Prairie. Those two shows will forever be connected to one another in my memories.

Couple of surprises for me. Did any of you considered how a show aged in your rankings? While I liked Get Smart in the day, I couldn't imagine watching it now.

Surprised there aren't more Shark Tank fans around here. Difficult to rank shows like this, Chopped, and some of the classic game shows.
I definitely considered aging. I watched the saddest things in the winter when there were 4 channels. I think it's why I'm a general sports fan - any time I could watch any sporting event, it meant I wasn't watching Eight is Enough reruns. I loved some of those shows then, but I was 8 years old and stupid.

Another one I thought about and used to watch when it syndicated but honestly was slightly before my time and it seems like it never found a second life streaming for some reason.

It’s an entertaining show, but it’s also a mess.

Parenthood was a show I overlooked. While it wouldn’t have made my top 70, it was a very good ensemble show that didn’t try to be like its great Ron Howard movie namesake.

I had Little House, Monk and Parenthood on the last batch. Little House just takes you back to a time when TV was simple. Good family show. I still watch it every now and then on Roku TV.

Monk is greatness and Tony S is amazing on this show. Monk also had an episode with Willie Nelson so bonus points for that.

Parenthood was a good show that I just discovered about a year ago. I didn't care for the movie but this was nothing like the movie.
