The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (7 Viewers)

136 - Severance
Also in the camp of loving this show - so incredibly unique and clever. Probably just thought it was too soon to rank it, being only a season and a half into it and not knowing how it progresses.

135 - The Price is Right
This one wasn't really on my radar but always a fun watch - if only to see the yodeling cliffhanger guy.

And never mind Barker's beauties - Rice-A-Roni and Turtle Wax were pretty alluring themselves.
Yodely Guy's game seems pretty easy to win -- the first item is always around $25, the second is always around $35 and the third is always around $45-50. In TPIR at Night (dunno about the daytime version) they've added an incentive where you get a certain amount of cash if you get really close to pushing Yodely Guy over but don't.

The hardest game is Three Strikes. It's extremely poorly designed and I've seen maybe 1 or 2 people win it in 40+ years of occasionally watching the show. I'd be pissed if I got onstage and that was my game.
What's the one where they have to guess all 5 digits in a car's price? The first two digits are pretty easy, but the last three are so random.

I remember that one, but not the name. Always wanted them to have some beat up Ford Pinto, or something like that, to guess on.

I was the high ranker on The Price is Right. Yes, it is the nostalgia of watching it when you were home from school in the 80's. No other show was like that, where I made sure I got on the TV at the right time on those rare days where I had a chance to experience it. And my Mom was usually good with it because God knows she was queueing up behind me to watch The Young and the Restless at 11 when TPIR was over. But I also ranked it because of this: a little over a year ago, my kids got my wife and I a new TV for our bedroom, as they thought the one we had was comically small. It is a Vizio, and there are all these free channels that come with the TV. The only one of these free channels that I've regularly watched is the one that shows The Price is Right 24 dadgum hours a day. It's comforting, it's nostalgic, it's mindless, which, to me, makes great TV.

It's fascinating that it's also good TV when the prices aren't even close to reality any more.

Yes. Even though you know that you're watching an episode from 1983, there's that cognitive dissonance that comes up when they announce "a brand new car!" and it's a Mercury Bobcat worth 3999.

They need to add a new game where you are chasing around chickens and have to grab the ones you think don't have H1N1. Then you have to guess how much their eggs will cost.

I realized after submitting my list and we were talking about different shows in here that this was an oversight from my list. You grow so connected to the characters on this one, and they did a nice job of finishing off the series. Love this.

Uhtred son of Uhtred of Bebbanburg!

Really loved the portrayal of Alfred. Guy had his flaws, but had a lot of conviction, was a very strong leader and seemed willing to learn and grow throughout the show.

Enjoyed this show from start to finish.

Fantastic show all around. I was semi-surprised it made it as high as it did on my list.

Any response that uses the term “dadgum” has to get an extra mention! 👍🏻

Uhtred son of Uhtred brother of Uhtred friend of Uhtred from the town of Uhtred is one of my wife’s favorite TV characters.

I’m not sure quite why - I’m assuming it’s the great acting and historical accuracy.

A lot of people dismiss The Crown for its inaccuracies, but I ranked it because it was well cast and acted and was just really well made. I initially didnt think it would hold my attention but it really did.
Tremendous acting throughout.

I still haven't caught all the way up, but I was shocked at how riveted I was with season 1.

One of my favorite scenes came out of the very first episode. It's when King George takes Phillip duck hunting and tries to explain to him what marrying Elizabeth will mean and that protecting her will become his job and he'll be giving up everything else.

Phillip: "I understand, sir."
King George: "Do you, boy? Do you really?"

Inaccuracies be damned, this was a fine television show from the jump to the very end. Acting, production values, storytelling, social and historical impact (if not historicity), it has it all. I'm still shocked that it was made while QEII was still with us. The early seasons make it clear that that would never have been allowed to happen in the early days of her reign.

Which brings me to the coup de grace for this show, imo: not only does it tell a great and fascinating story about characters who really come to life in an interesting and foreign (to the common man and to the average American) environment, it also tells a story about the evolution of Great Britton and the West at large through the ups and downs of the 20th century. And probably does more than anything else could have to make me appreciate the value of a monarchy in the modern world - which is something I never would have thought of before seeing this show.

The commercials for Reservation Dogs did the show no justice. I avoided watching it because it seemed like some formulaic show with kids getting up to shenanigans. There's some of that, kind of, but I'm so grateful I gave this show a chance. Each episode seems to have everything - you'll be laughing like hell one minute, borderline crying the next, then wondering why you think so small after that. It's got heart in spades without being too drippy, but sometimes it is drippy, and when it is you don't mind.

And it gets stronger with each season, as each season builds upon the season that came prior, just a fresh layer on top of another, much like the generations do in the show.

I was sad when it ended because the characters aren't in my life anymore. Not many shows can do that to me.

The only reason I haven’t watched this yet is because I’m still thinking about playing the game. But that would mean getting a playstation and where do I put it because there’s not much room in the cabinet and do I really want to get a console for one game that seems kind of dumb and it’s really just this whole big THING

Surprised its this low. The only reason I can see so few of us ranking this is that most don't consider it eligible or a real "TV show".

I've watched 100s of hours of Sportscenter in my day and enjoyed a ton of it.

Sounds like I need to watch Severance season 2. I thought season 1 was pretty overrated.

And who the heck thought White Lotus was boring? That show is so funny

I consider it a tv show, but didn't think of it. I watched it daily many years ago, but haven't in over 20 years.

It’s Tick Day!

Res Dogs was great, just a perfect blend of comedy and heart.

I rewatched Last of Us about a month ago and that Offerman episode is so beautiful. I t’s only one season but was great. I do worry about them trying to get too video gamey with boss fights - I only played the game through the leaning skyscrapers so I don’t know what’s coming.

Futurama made me laugh every time. It was the right point on the family-to-edgy scale for my age at the time.

SportsCenter was perfect - Sports Machine but daily with funny hosts, pre-internet. Local news’s 5-minute sports that never looked past the city limits was so shallow. SportsCenter opened up the whole country and occasionally the world of sports. Patrick/Olberman in the dorm lounge was how you met people.

I thought about it, but it’s gone down a lot from the 90s or so when I’d watch it religiously. Moved away from what made it successful with the highlights, and turning a bit too much into First Take, Get Up, etc. in another name.

This is the right tone to take with the show.
As mentioned, I love historical dramas and this has several great dramatic moments.
But ultimately its a bunch of poppycock. There were multiple laugh out loud moments that werent intended.

Yeah I didn't consider it a TV show. Nothing live sports and nothing news. If I watched it to gain information vs pure entertainment it didn't count for me.
