The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (15 Viewers)

Season 1 is tough to get through because there’s a lot of one off episodes but once it finds its stride it’s really good

I tried to watch this twice because Mr. krista loved it, but I couldn't make it through Season 1. This makes me think I should give it another shot.

I think we watched the first 4 seasons and maybe started the 5th, but didn't finish it. My wife is not a big violence person and it got to be a bit much for her.

I would. Like I said it really doesn’t get good until the last few episodes of season 1 but from then on its solid

Goggins is excellent as Boyd Crowder as is Olyphant as Raylen

Supporting cast is good as well

My wife really liked it but I think that’s because she has the hots for Raylen

I think Timothy Olyphant has the most appearances on my list - he’s the lead in two shows on my list, part of an ensemble cast for one season on another show and has a 3-4 episode arc on yet another show.

3 of them have not appeared yet. I’m confident two of them are still to come - the last one, I’m not confident it makes it at this point.

I true pioneer of television. I watch old clips now and I cringe and laugh. The episode where the gay guy and female soliciting houses for the cause is crazy fun.

Wow, this seems criminally low. I was actually feeling ashamed to not have it in my top 5. You could make an argument it's the most groundbreaking show in TV history, has one of the best sets of spinoffs, "Sammy's Visit" might be the single best episode of television ever.

Oh and back to the previous conversation about great characters like George Costanza and Niles Crane. A lot of great characters that are hilarious. But Archie is the best sitcom character ever. Not just because we can laugh at his bigotry. But he actually has a ton more depth than some of those other characters get mentioned and in some of the sentimental moments he is away more authentic and leaps and bounds ahead of those other characters.

What made Carroll O'Connor even greater is that his real life persona was the complete antithesis from Archie. He just totally sold that character to the audience.

If I took my favorite-ness out of it, for example, Burn Notice is obviously not the best show ever. It's just my favorite and most watched.

Justified is freaking incredible. Amazing.

"Not on streaming" is not the same thing as "Not available on a subscription streaming service". There was a time, not so long ago, that we all paid a rental fee to watch our programming.

Almost everything is still rentable/purchasable in digital form. Here's Mr Robot for $25. There are 45 episodes so that works out to $.56/episode. Shoot the locks off your wallets.

And physical media is still available. And also has the advantage of being something you can sell once you're done with it. Here's Mr Robot for $45.

End
Mr. Robot is $20 to own on Fandango at home today only. Worth it.

Goggins is excellent as Boyd Crowder as is Olyphant as Raylen

Supporting cast is good as well

My wife really liked it but I think that’s because she has the hots for Raylen

I do like Goggins a lot, so it has that going for it (which is nice). I don't get the Olyphant love in terms of his being hot. I find him pretty bland. I do have another of his shows on my list, but it hasn't appeared yet. I thought he was good in that (and in the bits of Justified I've seen), but I don't find him super attractive. I'm obviously weird.

All In The Family was must see tv growing up. I did a recent rewatch (yes I have the entire thing on DVD) and as an adult…..it was far better and groundbreaking.

Those were the days.
It's also a little sad that 50 years later every single "culture war" on that show is still happening today.
Yeah 20 years ago Archie Bunker seemed like an oddity from the past and now he sounds like he hosts a cable news program.

I do have another of his shows on my list, but it hasn't appeared yet.
Yes it has. It was #70 in this countdown.
He was on the Good Place? I don't remember that.
The judge was getting into Justified and had a crush on Olyphant so she conjured him up

I do remember that now. Very bit part.

Like I said earlier he has has a 3-4 episode arc in another sitcom that should be coming up soon.

I remember the opening sequence of the first episode. A couple of young teenage boys sitting in a basement playing Dungeons and Dragons during the early 80's.

As a kid from the 80s that first season hit wonderfully. Just great. Ya. It tailed off a bit, but what show doesn't really? My biggest gripe is having 10 years between seasons watching the little kids become adults. I like it better when they were like the kids from the Goonies

Must see TV for my whole family growing up. My (very bigoted) grandfather was always upset at the way everyone was always picking on poor Archie, who was just a regular guy.

I love the idea that the Soviets would have built a secret laboratory under an American shopping mall. Just the conceit covers so many awesome 80s bases.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a full episode of this to be honest…the finale aired like 6 months before I was born

Best Stranger Things scene for my money
(not a big spoiler, but I wouldn't watch if you haven’t seen the show and plan on going through the series):

I actually thought this was a shoo-in for top 10. Pretty surprised.

People saying this really underestimate the quality of TV over the last 10-20 years.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a full episode of this to be honest…the finale aired like 6 months before I was born
Yep but I definitely watched reruns as a kid. I was pretty young and we didn’t have cable so options were limited and I enjoyed the heck out of All in the Family.
