The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (28 Viewers)

I have a seen a few Twilight Zone episodes and they were good. It just wasn't a show I saw a lot of so I couldn't rank it.
My only memory, and it's vague and possibly wrong... a gorilla on the wing of a commercial flight??? Weird stuff. Never watched much.

The two episodes I vaguely remember are the famous Burgess Merridith episode and the Kick the Can episode

ETA: the kick the can episode recollection might be from the movie though

Up Next: If you recall, I got the meta data from an online db someone made and some of the show descriptions have been a little off to say the least. The next show has the best one by far. I could change it but naaaaah.

Twilight Zone was always on during the day in syndication when I was growing up. There were only a couple black and white shows I liked back then, but this was definitely one of them. There were a couple episodes in particular that scared the crap out of me when I was little.

You may need to geezersplain this.
He's using a resource for show descriptions that appears to be A.I. generated and some of them are kind of inacurate and/or comical, the next show being one of the funnier ones.

With 300 shows to rank, I needed an automated way to get things like the show description/genre/etc for the reveal posts. Otherwise I have to manually type it all in which wasnt going to happen for 300 entries. There are online databases people maintain where this kind of info is stored and for these countdowns I try and find what I can through these.

12 shows left - 11 are in my top 12 and the other is a highly rated show I never got around to watching but knew would rank well.

My two remaining shows that somehow didn’t make the top 300:

#50 - a fun action show that I’m shocked didn’t rank with how some other similar themed shows have fared

#63 - a popular sitcom that I know AAA also has on his list. Sitcoms in general didn’t fare that well in these rankings, so it’s not a huge surprise but still interesting not too many had this on their lists.

10. Yellow Jackets (258) :bag:
Just started this with my wife because of this countdown. So far we're really liking it

I added this to my list due to the countdown, too.
If I were to do the list today, it would not be this high for me. I was disappointed with this season, but some people thought it was good, so still worth a watch for you I think.ted s
Season 3 started slow, but then it has gone very dark in the past month or so being what it is supposed to be to me. A show where no one really survived despite the middle class, suburban present day facade for some.

Good timing - Mad Men was the one I didn’t rank since I’ve never watched an episode. My wife was never interested in starting it and it’s not one I wanted to jump into myself.

Here is my guess:

I haven't seen enough episodes to rank it. But I probably should have anyway, because what I have seen is brilliant.

Mine:

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (95)
2. Top 10?
3. Top 5?
4. Six Feet Under (48)
5. The Leftovers (49)
6. I will be bold and go Top 5
7. Curb Your Enthusiasm
8. The Expanse (102)
9. South Park (14)
10. The Americans (30)

Looking at that list vs. the rankings and you all are missing out on The Expanse. Any sci-fi fans should check it out who haven't already.
It would be top 100 now - I would have it pretty high, but didn't start until after I submitted my list. I'm only at S3E9 but really enjoying it.

i agree d feel it picked up at the end,but still a bit let down for whatever reason.

I had The Twilight Zone at #12 but still am shocked at its high ranking. I'd started to worry it wasn't showing up!

If we did it again, I'd have Mad Men on my list - maybe even top 10. I'm midway through Season 6 now but didn't start watching until 2-3 months ago.

Such a fantastic show and it’s the inspiration for one of my favorite amusement park rides ever - Tower of Terror. Beautifully themed and well done, down to the pre show with Rod Serling.

It's no longer Tower of Tower....now it's Guardians of the Galaxy

That’s just in California - rumors they would do World but haven’t yet and I really hope they don’t. Keeps the two distinct and I love ToT.

#63 - a popular sitcom that I know AAA also has on his list. Sitcoms in general didn’t fare that well in these rankings, so it’s not a huge surprise but still interesting not too many had this on their lists.

I’m still kind of blown away it won’t be in the top 300 - especially given the demographics in this forum. I think it will be the biggest injustice in this whole effort!

Pausing for a second as I look into some errors with a couple Mad Men related rankings.

I dont think this will change the rankings, but I need to check everyone's top 5 again.

Ok for whatever reason a few people's # 1, 3, and 5 shows got mixed up on my spreadsheet. Nothing major that is changing any rankings, but it affects pickles.

Revised Mad Men post incoming.

I expected Twilight Zone to be high but 14 is higher than I expected by a good bit. Such a fantastic show and it’s the inspiration for one of my favorite amusement park rides ever - Tower of Terror. Beautifully themed and well done, down to the pre show with Rod Serling.
YES. My all time favorite ride. When they discussed rebranding it GotG it made me a sad banana. Hope they never change it - it's perfect.

Looks like we had two '60s and moved right on into the '80s.

So you're saying that
everybody didn't love it?

Never saw Mad Men, but this thread is making an impression. Will work it's way up the queue to watch.
Twilight Zone is so, so good. Not every episode hits it out of the park, but the one's that do, are outstanding. And it's been around for so long now, that some of the twists are so well known that it takes away a bit upon rewatches I suppose. I'd have it ranked top 25 or so.

Gremlin. The gorilla you remember is William Shatner.
In the movie version, John Lithgow played the part William Shatner played in the tv show. Worlds collide in this scene in 3rd rock from the sun:

How was your trip, Sir? Relevant part starts at the 1 minute mark.
