I’m glad you like it. The lead singer is in another band that I’ll draft later. That band isn’t popular either and haven’t released anything in years but have 2 1/2 albums of excellent songs.This is awesome.

So far I’ve tried to be strategic in this draft mostly picking bands that I thought would be picked soon by at least one of you. This round, though, I’m going to do something different.
First of all, there can be no debate that this isn’t the band’s best song since it is the only song currently available. Their first EP will be released Friday but they released the “official video” of this song on YouTube last Friday. Hopefully the EP will be available on the streaming services but I’m not sure they will be big enough for that. Their video only has 291 views as I type this and that counts a ton by me!
They describe their music as “Scottish dance-rock” and also “nostalgic synth miserablism”. I’m not sure I get the miserablism part but maybe that just means I’m an undiagnosed miserabilist.
Anyway, I really dig this song. I know Scottish dance-rock won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if it might be, I urge you to take a listen.

It might be on Friday when the EP is released. I’m not sure though.That song is right up my alley. Sucks it's not on Spotify.
this is great. not on Apple music yet like you said, but I'll definitely keep checking.Juxtatarot said:11.24 Dead Modern Still Cool

Pretty sure it will be.It might be on Friday when the EP is released. I’m not sure though.
I think the video is actually better than the song. But they’re both quite good.Really liked this, too! Enjoyed the video as well. Just a lot of fun.
Pretty much what Manster said. I also contemplated their cover of "Kick out the Jams" just 'cause.What are these other songs you speak of?
Totally agree - these guys should have been much bigger than they were.Looks like I'm up for my 12.6 pick.
The popular lament for fans of this band is, "how did they not blow up?" And I get it and agree with the sentiment but they've done just fine. This was the first song I heard that really blew me away. The wall of sound from just three guys, incredible guitar, drumming, and bass. And Dug's vocals. Man, what a sound. The original video hasn't aged well but if you dig it, the two more recent live performances are worth checking out.
King's X - Over My Head
Live Love in London Version 2009
2021 Version
Yeah, and he still crushes it. To put it in perspective he's the same age as Billy Gibbons.Totally agree - these guys should have been much bigger than they were.
ETA: I was at first shocked how old Pinnick is/was - he was 39 when this song came out.
Drat. I was going to pick Sundown.60s/70s Folk singer songwriter, also checks the Canada box.![]()
Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind
Never saw him live although the dude was still touring last time I checked...he's gotta be close to 80. He's got some all timers, but I've always loved this song. I have never heard his music on the radio but it has popped up on my Pandora. I discovered him via friend's dad when I was in college.
I have no idea what the perception of his music is. It seems like everybody kind of forgot about him.
Magic.I can see her lying back in her satin dress
In a room where you do what you don't confess
Noooooo. Was going to be my next pick. Conor is so good.12.10 Bright Eyes Haligh, Haligh, a Lie, Haligh
Bright Eyes are best known for their song “First Day of My Life” and its video but I always thought Conor Oberst is at his best when he sings about emotional pain. A great example of this is “Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh”. This song gets me every time.
Be assured he was on my short list. I just hadn't settled on a song. Texas Flood is a good choice.Round 12.11 - Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughn
How SRV hasn't gone yet is a mystery.
@Manster is up
@El Floppo is on deck
Which song?Noooooo. Was going to be my next pick. Conor is so good.
Find me a better songwriter. He's in another league.Noooooo. Was going to be my next pick. Conor is so good.
Oooh, that would be some song tournament. I wouldn't end up on Haligh, Haligh but I loved playing it this morning.Which song?
Prob Easy Lucky Free. Maybe At the Bottom of Everything. To Love and Be Loved would work it's way near the top.Prob would have gone with Lua.
This was on my short list.....love this song! Love Bradley Nowell's voice....too bad he couldn't overcome addiction12.x - Sublime - Badfish
man, what could have been... growing up in SoCal during the period, this one is a little close to home. Sublime had such a unique sound, and was just starting to come into their own when Bradley Nowell died of an overdose. they have so many good songs to choose from, but I chose this one because on the surface it has the perfect sound to represent the band and it makes you think of sunny SoCal, blunts, and brews. but the underlying message of the song is Bradley's struggle with heroin addiction, which would kill him just a couple years later.
I've come close to picking SRV several times......I can watch live videos of him playing and just get mezmorized. Best blues guitarist of all time, easily, imo. And maybe just best guitarist all time...... It just flowed out of him like he was possessed.Round 12.11 - Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughn

Land locked blues is up there for me tooProb Easy Lucky Free. Maybe At the Bottom of Everything. To Love and Be Loved would work it's way near the top.
You're good.Speaking of blues…. I can’t see the sheet at the moment, so please forgive if he was already taken.
Robert Johnson - Hellhound On My Trail
@tuffnutti think?
No, I don’t have one yet.You're good.
Did Binky leave a pick with you? I texted him a bit ago to let him know he could be up shortly, but haven't gotten a response.
He just responded. He can't see the thread, but can see the spreadsheet. If you're busy, I can take his pick when he decides. I'll be around for a bit.No, I don’t have one yet.
Hey now12.16 - Crowded House - Fall At Your Feet (1996) Live at Sydney Opera House
https://youtu.be/zZdcz1ALuBo
While Don't Dream It's Over always seems to be the choice for their best song, I prefer this stunning, overlooked, and vastly underrated song. Honorable mention to runner ups: World Where You Live, It's Only Natural, and Into Temptation.
Was going to pick this in the next round or two. I also like The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Canadian Railroad Trilogy, but I think this is probably his best song. Carefree Highway is another good one.Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind.
