Tiger Woods (2 Viewers)

These schlubs in front of him will blow it. Just needs to hang around.
Levin keeps blocking his tee shot, but Sabbatini looks good. They have some history:
Sabbatini also made waves following the Wachovia Championship in May 2007 when, after leading the field by one stroke after day three and then giving up five strokes to Tiger Woods to lose the tournament on Sunday, he proclaimed that Woods was "more beatable than ever." In the final round of the 2007 Bridgestone Invitational, he had a fan removed who heckled him with questions about Tiger Woods. Then, in December of the same year, more controversy was stirred when he withdrew from the Target World Challenge, an off-season event hosted by Tiger Woods, becoming the only player in history to withdraw from that event.
Loved it when he was heckled about it. From what I remember, the fan said something along the lines of, "Is Tiger still more beatable than ever?". That was so awesome. :lmao:

the guy still has it obviously, but can he string together 3 or 4 good performances?

seems to play very well, then sucks for several events after that before he shows up again.

:lmao: Yeah, no reason to enjoy this...
Why is that funny? Even if he wins this week the comment is wholly valid.

Oof. Lots of egg on faces in here, and there's more every day.

Awesome. Sunday's are dedicated to 6 hours of golf watching in my house for years now.

Sunday's are always better when Tiger is around. Love that guy.

When you look at the numbers, it's sort of baffling that people even put these other schlubs in the conversation with Tiger. He's one of the all time greats already, and he's freakin' 36.

What does that have to do with anything? Anyone watching Tiger play over the last 18 months knows he has absolutely struggled to find any kind of consistent game. Same thing this year. Wins Arnie's tournament with an awesome final round in tough conditions and then disappeared for 6 weeks playing terrible, inconsistent golf by his standards.Who knows what he'll do from here on out? It wouldn't surprise me at all if he struggles to hit 6 fairways a round at the US Open.

The truth is he has not shown any consistency since he railed up that Ambien and smashed his car into the fire hydrant.

This awesome win today doesn't change that fact.

:goodposting: Yep.
He is a victim of his own expectations and lofty career achievements. It happens.
Johnny Miller started saying last year he could have a second career (at a time when nobody was predicting that). He didn't mean the dominance of 2000-2002 or 8/9 win season, but multiple win season for another 5 years, win every 6th or 8th major, and he catches both Nicklaus for majors and Snead for wins. There's not much precedence for it. Watson jammmed all his majors into 9 seasons, Hogan 8 years, Arnie 7. The guys who did it over 15-20 years (Vardon, Hagen, Player, Nicklaus) are pretty rare.I don't know if Olympic or Royal Lytham are Tiger kind of courses, but I could see him winning at the Ocean Course. Next year the Open Championship goes back to Royal Liverpool, where he won. Vahalla is hosting the PGA again in 2014. Almost always a threat at ANGC. It might take him another 4-6 years, but I think he gets to 19.

It is still Jack then Woods unless he ties or passes Jack's 18.

And then...well...nobody else is even in the discussion for "Greatest of All Time".

If there were a moment to say Tiger was back...the shot on 16 would be it. Clutch defined.

He was one of the all-time greats at 24.
100+ golfers have 10 career wins. Tiger had his 15th win by age 24 (only if you count the 4 majors he won in that span)
 DOB: 12/30/1975

This might be pizza math, but by my count he had 24 wins and 5 majors when he was 24.

I guess AJ said at 24, you said by age 24, so you're both right.

Faldo and Kostis nailed it when they said they didn't see him doing that insane rehearsal swing where he would swing across his body so drastically. I think that probably means that it has sunk in enough that he doesn't have to do that as a reminder anymore. If that's the case, and the tempo we saw this week sticks, 18 is absolutely doable. He always has had that stinger shot to depend on, and it looks like this cut shot is that kind of reliable, especially with 3-wood. That's probably the horse he's going to ride from here out. My biggest concern for him has been that he's appeared to struggle reading putts more in the last few years than he used to. A lot more hesitant lines and a lot more misreads. If anything is responsible for him not getting there, I'm pretty sure it's going to be putting. But I think he'll get to 18, as I have all along. 19 is a much longer shot than 18.

Don't forget six USGA titles, including being the only person to ever win three Junior Amateurs and the only person to win three straight Amateurs. His amateur career alone got him close to the conversation.

That was awesome. All of it. The shot on 16, the strong finish, talking to Jack who he's chasing. Awesome. Damn I love golf when Tiger is there on Sunday.

I went to the Western Amateur every year from 1989-1999, when it was always held at Pointe O' Woods. Mickelson beat Justin Leonard in 1990, and I thought I had just seen the most impressive amateur since Nicklaus. Leonard won the next two years. Then I got my first glimpse of Woods. He beat Chris Riley in the final, and I was thunderstruck. I had never seen a golfer with that much talent, and he was so exuberant, the crowd went bananas (and it was the biggest gallery I had ever seen at any amateur event). He joined Bobby Clampett as the only 18 y.o. winner of the Western Am.A few weeks later at TPC Sawgrass he was six down after 13 holes of the 36-hole match-play final, five down with 12 holes remaining, three down going to the final nine. Absolutely smoked Trip Kuehne. Won it by firing right at the 17th hole pin, landed 2 feet from the bulkhead, and drained the putt from the fringe.

Love watching this guy.
