Tiger Woods (2 Viewers)

Guys don't usually win bunches of majors after the age of 40. He still needs 5, which is a very good career for most people.

IMO, he is running out of time. I can see him winning 1 or 2 after the age of 40, but if he doesn't win 3 or so in the next 3 years, forget it.
4 more will be a tall task but I wouldn't bet money on it either way.  Lots of  though

81.  One win short at 43 with his life and health in order again.

It doesn't help, but Tiger I am rooting for your success at all times.  Never cared about golf until this guy showed us greatness on a surreal level.

Probably doesn't belong in the Tiger Woods thread, but I do wonder what happens if Koepka makes that putt.
Our guy knew the only way he makes double is if he clips that tree. So he goes way around it and slices it back. Plays it totally different if he has to make par. IMO.

I get he was playing it safe, but that 2nd shot was more miss than strategy.

ETA:  Par was no way in the bag after that tee shot.  He would have needed a miraculous shot and 2 putt or an up and down

Tiger by far has been the most dominating athlete, maybe in history, in any sport. Might be struggling a little since his surgery by give him time, he will get his wins and his majors. I know it is impossible to compare athletes of different eras, but, there is no way that the golfers of the past played anywhere near the competitive fields that are put together today. Without question, Tiger is the best that has "ever" played the game of golf and he is nowhere near finished.
I think I nailed it.

I think if he wins this week to back up the 7 shot victory at the last tourney that he may start regaining some of that fear factor. Players still talk about playing with Tiger being a different experience than they ever encounter. I don't think he ever gets back to that same level but he has a chance to get really close. What's interesting to me is to think about him winning 4-5 tourneys every year for a few more years but not getting to 18 majors. Say he gets to 100 wins total. I think you'll have those saying he couldn't close the deal in majors later in his career but my god, winning 100 tournaments would be unreal.
It almost doesn't seem possible this was 6 years ago.  He's just one back of Snead now.  Seems almost a done deal he gets that (barring a catastrophic injury/death).  I still say he has a chance at some of that old fear factor - no so much about his game but just the whole scene that takes place when it's Tiger.  You have to think all the guys out there are just praying they aren't paired with him the first 2 days at the PGA.

5-1 that he wins three more seems nutso to me.  I never left the Tiger train but I suspect his back gives out before his game does and we look back on this run as the Indian Summer of his career.

ETA:  I started to offer up those odds he wouldn't do it, but what kind of jamoke wants to root against this guy?

You might want to look up his results in the 7 or so events prior to that comment. It was a bad take.
Ehhhh I guess.  It was more to reflect the tough competition than to say "he's done". I won't lose much sleep over it.

I mean winning the players last year should have been a really good sign.

If this Eldrick guy can't even win one of the warm up ham -n- egger tourneys before the majors, he is useless in this thread. It's the only way to get what is left of the nuthuggers to show up and take their 4 beatdowns per year. I think all that is left is BobbyLayne, Apple Jack and maybe sho nuff. We need to get this bum a win so they come crawling out of their caves and start talking ####.

Jack would have hit the current ball 350-370 and won 30 majors. He was hitting balata balls with wooden drivers over 300yds,  50 years ago.
LOL.  Jack's driving average in 1968 was measured at 11 tourneys by IBM.  It was 276.0   The consensus among industry professionals from having modern players hit persimmons and balatas is that the modern game has gained an average of 35 yards off the tee due to tech advantages.  Give that to Jack and he'd have averaged 311.  Not bad at all, but it would've been 12th last year, while when he played he was the longest driver of the golf ball by a long shot.

Stop regurgitating bull####.

Congrats on the win. Every Waffle House waitress between Augusta and Windemere is thankful for that girlfriend choice

Tiger was out-driven on most holes today.

At what point does the media finally admit that he's average and stop building him up for every tournament? All week long we hear about Tiger this, Tiger that. He' s no longer the same Tiger, yet the media still makes him out to be. When do they bite the bullet and start pumping someone else, or other people? Until that happens there will be tons of people who revel in his failures. Me included. At this point the highlights still show him - even when he's redundant. It has to stop soon, right? Maybe shortly after he proves during Masters week that he's no better than average any longer?

Last year I stated (not on here, but to my friends) that he'd not win another major. Now I doubt that he'll ever win another tournament.
May be a little while longer.
